  • This project is related to my previous video • DIY Li-ion 20C 48V 10A...
    In order to be effective, I decided to make a new battery with large capacity.
    The new battery pack is 48V 18Ah 864Wh that drain current up to 12A that can run 570W battery power tools.
    Lithium-ion battery cell
    - Brand model: LG INR18650HG2
    - Standard capacity: 2800- 3000mAh
    - Rated voltage: 3.6V
    - Charging voltage: 4.2±0.05V
    - Maximum continuous discharge current: 20A
    - Discharge cut-off voltage: 2.5V
    - Weight: Max.47.0g
    - Size: Max.18.2×65.2 mm
    - Charge and discharge times: 500 times
    I hope you find this video useful and enjoy it!
    Furthermore, I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
    Thank you very much for your likes, comments, and subscription!
    Have a nice day

    Great job.
    I like that you included that the "pro" guy liked the gas better.... Which does not take anything away from your project.... That actually looked like a bigger gas motor and cutting blade.... He probably likes it because it's faster.... But who knows.....
    That could be an interesting project.... Get a bigger gas one, and electrify it....
    I got a Makita electric leaf blower a few months ago....... For what I do, I really like it. Blow out my garage, blow out my front sidewalk entry-way area... Works really good, and I don't have to mess around with gas & oil like my gas one.... I have the batteries, because I have a bunch of Makita tools.... I like it.

    The bms connections already has metal pads soldered on it so you can spot weld the nickel tabs directly on the board, otherwise, nice build! 😊

    • @bonafide9085
      @bonafide9085 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Recently, I have had to refurbish a battery pack and the BMS had the same pads and it was a pain to remove the welded nickel from them, so I have de-soldered these small pads from the PCB and soldered the new nickel strips directly. In the future when the batteries will die, I can still re-solder the BMS easily.

    • @quandiy5164
      @quandiy5164 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bonafide9085 same here. I just desolder it rather than ripping the tabs. For new ones, if I don't plan to weld onto the bms pads, I desolder them and keep them for another project, and then solder the nickel tabs to the pcb.

    Cool project. Though when soldering the ground and positive terminals for the BMS, don't use the fan, as the cooling of the tin, soldering iron, and BMS board makes the soldered connection weaker than normal. You want to get the tin looking nice and smooth.

One suggestion though, The BMS terminals have small metal sheet on them, the propose of them is that you can also spot weld the battery nickles to the BMS rather than soldering it(Maybe you are aware of it and and prefer soldering, anyway i just wanted to mention it:))

    Nice build. You should get into designing and 3D printing your own DC tools. Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists. SLA printers can print accurately to 22 micron now (Phrozen 8K Mini) and the Elegoo ABS resin is very rough. I designed and printed a larger head for my DC string trimmer and it holds up well to the punishment.

    5:19 Your soldering iron doesn’t store enough heat to melt the blobs into a single pool. You can consider something stronger like gun type irons with large transformers in them. 15 seconds from cold to hot, it would be a single pool.

    at 18000mayh, I think it's time you use Ah instead, then it's 18 and it makes a lot more cents. That's why we don't say I spent 1,000,000,000 cents on a used car. Small numbers are easier. It's kind of like building a spot welder that needs a separate button instead of using a momentary in the welding head so you don't have to synchronise your hand holding the spot welder with the button in your other hand. That wouldn't be very efficient!
