some positions are also kinda messed up (Chimecho appears at the end)

Slowdown the video at 5:36 to 0.25 and you will able to see Bloody Cubone ("slowdown + pokemon sprites = crazy Pokémon color variations" remember that rule, kids)

I know for Crystal they actually animated the Pokémon like multiple frames in a sprite animation but for from emerald all the way to gen 4 they used less frames and relied and squash and stretch animation techniques, sometimes using 2D animation to move the sprites around if it was a flying type or Pokémon like Mew or jirachi

When I first saw the Enerald sprites, I assumed they were the new main poses and they would be individually animated like Crystal.
They found a great way to save on resources but still maintain quality. It wasn't until gen 5 that they found a way to animate sprites efficiently
And since stretch and squash is a fetish and knowing how the pokemon fandom is... You know that's NO good mix.
Yeah, and they also make the game slow as HELL because of that. Crystal is the only game i play with animations disabled.

It's refreshing to see the Emerald sprites for the Kanto Pokémon rather than the Fire Red sprites
I respect your opinion and no offence, however I prefer the Fire Red sprites over RSE sprites. Fire Red sprites had more cool and warm colours. What I mean is the colours aren't a contrast of tinting or shading. The sprites don't look 'muddy' or overdetailed. Some or majority of the RSE sprites follow that clause. I'm not saying that I hate RSE sprites entirely, in fact, Gen 3 sprites were a refreshing and most definitely needed change in Pokemon aesthetic. My statements are always soo long in every comment of mine lol. IMO

I've always liked how some sprites used to flash a single, flat color, like Raikou or Milotic. I always found it pretty. Part of me kinda wishes they'd bring back something like that.
All pokemon with animations like that are good

Crystal was the last game on gbc and emerald emerald was the last on gba both of them had animations. Coincidence? I think not
@@rajt9996 and then it became permanent in gen 4 and evolved into moving sprites in gen 5 with an added attack motion depending on contact in gens 6-8
They did animated sprites for crystal, and it ended up being too inefficient due to them needing to add around 5 extra different sprites for each Pokémon. So they decided to scrap that idea for ruby and sapphire. It wasn't until emerald where they realised they could just instead add 1 extra sprite and have them all move around, something that the gbc wasn't capable of. Then they further improved it in 4th generation thanks to the capabilities of the ds and it wasn't until black and white where they wanted to actually fully animate all of the sprites
Ah yes, For getting gen 4, and gen 5 (gen 6 doesn't have any Animations after.

I noticed that when the sprites change, the previous one goes into egg palette for 01 millisecond and then switches into the next pokemon.

Milotic was also the only Pokemon that has blue glow and both front and back sprites.
I rather like the stretch technique. It's consistent with the treatment of move animations, and seems to be utilised mainly to enhance the cries

Ah yes, you go directly for swsh, not any of the other 3D pokemon games, just SwSh. Could've said it had better animations than the 3d models, but SwSh specifically
Razor All Pokemon games have good 3D models but specifically SwSh has bad animations being a console video game (Nintendo Switch) compared to a portable console (Nintendo 3DS) as if it were a Sun/Moon remastered for 60$
It took 4 generations for snorlax to sit.

QOTD: Definitely Pidgeot for me.
Despute emerald not having the best art work for most of the kanto and johto mons, the animation and poses for some are really unique

@@denilramos2337 Imo, Crystal's ones are kinda ovverated. But that doesnt mean theyre bad. tho, Crystal kinda sucks if you play it.. especially bc they took away all the good encounters (eg Mareep)
@@denilramos2337Crystal may have more frames but it comes at the huge cost of making gameplay so slow, plus sprites had way simpler colouring, mostly using flat colours with zero shading or even using the white background to disimulate. They are also way too bright.
