Silver sprites seam to be more agile and "in movement", while the Gold sprites show the pokemon in a "default" state that makes them easy to look at and see the details. I love both/all three!
It also seems like Crystal tended to pick the "default" state between them most of the time, which makes sense since it had animation at the start of battles for the dynamic element.
Scyther’s sprite is Crystal’s biggest blunder! While Gold Scyther is posed and poised ready to attack, Silver Scyther just stands there and tells it’s trainer “daaaiiii well I don’t know” with it’s campy ass shoulder shrug
There's a sort of magic to Poekemon sprites that 3D models can't capture. I wish we'd get a throwback game - new Pokemon, regions, etc, but in the sprite and such format. It's just...better IMO
I do not think it is actually better, but yeah having one throwback gen that had new Pokemon in a new region done in the OG graphic style would be really cool. It is something I have wanted pretty much ever since they brought them into 3D. I personally prefer the Black and White graphic style with the cool idle animations over all of the other graphic styles even including the newest.
@@MegaJesseman I do genuinely think it's better myself. I haven't felt the same level of charm seeing a Pokémon since Gen IV. Gen VI really just made 'em dead but Gen V's constantly moving sprites for me started it. I want a new game in a throwback style to Gen II
Abra having one eye almost open in gold version is really cool, probably the coolest Abra sprite in any game. 3:42 Paras' sprites in gold and crystal and Parasect's sprite in silver and gold almost look like OG Gen I sprites. 2:55 Silver's Vileplume sprite is the best, so distinguished. 3:32 Dittos gold sprite is melting. 3:50 Wobbuffet's silver sprite looks depressed. 4:27 Golducks Crystal sprite is probably the only sprite in that game to lose more color, it's really weird. 5:46 Silver's staryu sprite can get up, same with Starmie. 6:57 Silver's Mantine sprite is really unique, looks like its flying. 8:12 Silver probably has the only sprite depicting Mew standing up. 10:24 Over all i like crystal the best especially because of how they move though that usually means they chose less dynamic positions. Gold seems to me to have the highest highs and lowest lows but has some of my favorites. Silver is just consistently super solid and is my runner up to Crystal.

I prefer the Pokedex order here over the Nationaldex we are used to see in all the games! Everything is organized according to new cross-gen evolutions and the top tier "KanJo" pokemon are placed in the end.
Oh boy, let's see what gen 3 did... out of 386 pokémon, 152 changed sprite from R/S/E to FR/LG those being all gen 1 pokémon and freaking Teddiursa. Why?
@@laser90Crystal is actually pretty impressive since they had true animation in their sprites. The squash and stretch animation they used in Gen 3 and 4 looked pretty cheap in comparison imo.

Having grown up on Gold, I never got a good look at the Silver version poses, and I gotta say, that game's sprites are hit-or-miss. Some of them are huge hits! They look awesome and ready to rock, like Typhlosion's "Stand the fuck back, I got this" stance, and Farfetch'D flying through the air, on his way to cut you in half. Then you have stuff like disproportioned Startyu and Starmie taking a nap in the middle of the fight? Scyther smirking while he's walking sideways? I still prefer most of the Gold sprites. The Crystal redraws can be nice, too. Gold/Crystal Poliwrath is one of THE most badass sprites in a Pokemon game! He looks imposing, pissed off, and primed to Dynamicpunch a bitch. Thanks for uploading!
As a Gold player, I was always envious that silver got, by far, the better arcanine sprite (my favorite pokemon) And really, the better umbreon (my other favorite pokemon) one too (minus him being backwards so all his moves come out of his butt) Same backwards thing happened to Arcanine in Yellow 😅

Silver sprites are very expressive
This helped my depression plus im not used to silver just gold and Crystal
So much nostalgia! :)
If you start playing pokemon on Gen 4 wait for your nostalgic xp. :)))))
