    This is by far the easiest plant to grow. For the beginner, whats nice is that there is no "Die off" at the beginning like with a lot of other plants. Once it establishes itself it will grow like crazy! I trim mine once every week.

      Die-off is usually from being grown out of water. Could you have gotten some submerged-grown Octopus?

    This was one of the first aquarium plants I tried and thrived in every condition I put it in: from 76F to 85F, with and without CO2 injection, with and without aquasoil and from low to high lighting. I often gave away trimmings to my aquascaping and aquarist friends who went on to have similar success. All this from one, original order for this plant from Aquarium Co-Op. Great plant and a great source too. Good to see a new face and voice for Co-Op, keep up the great work!

    I bought one pot of this 2 years ago. Trimmings have ended up in almost all my tanks. It can become a monster plant very quickly. Great bang for buck if you want a fast growing plant that will help keep tanks balanced and keep making more of itself.
    Mystery snails decimated it in one of my tanks. I think the leaves are a little easy to rip off the stem and the snails cruising all over them for a few months did a lot of damage. But, since I still have an abundance of trimmings, I can start over quickly.

    Here's why this video was great in my opinion: we got to hear Lizzie's real person voice. She shifted from her sweeter presentation voice into her real person voice about halfway through or so. My hope is that she continues to use this real voice in all her future voice over work too. Her presentation voice is much too stilted to sound like she'a comfortable. Always a fan; keep up the great work!

    I bought this plant from the co-op many months ago. It did take a little while to take off, but now that it had I am either throwing it away or giving it away at local club meetings. It is fantastic for keeping your water clean, and it looks nice too.

    Added one from the Coop to a 55. Reached the top in 2 weeks, covered 3/4ths of the top of the tank in 6 weeks. At 8 weeks pruned enough to cover the surface of a 75 and there's still way too much in the 55! It is my go-to for fry as they thrive in the surface branches of this plant (water Sprite 1st runner up for baby fish when floated).

    I love my Pogo! But, we did have a very rocky start. I purchased two nice plants from Aquarium Coop for my 29 gallon aquarium with Eco complete substrate. My setup was a Petco Aqueon Kit with hood light. After a couple of months of constantly having to replant as it just didn't want to take root, I was almost ready to throw it out. It was down to two very small sparse growths, in spite of using both Easy Green and Root tabs. In fact none of my plants were really doing great. Finally, I purchased a Stingray 2 light with a glass cover, got rid of the hood, and within a month, Pogo was actually staying in the substrate and growing. Now, just 3 months later, it is a hearty, thriving beast, along with my other plants. In fact, I've been very successful with transplanting pieces of it as it overgrew quickly, and I now have the lush healthy jungle I've always wanted, and my fish are very happy and healthy. Lighting makes all the difference!

    Hi! I've been having a problem growing my pogostemon stellata octopus, since all my snails keep chewing at the stems and killing it. I have a busy community tank, so is this because they aren't getting enough food or is this a tank problem?

    I was doing well with this plant for the past 2 months. But last week, a hairy string algae started growing from the leaves. Anything I can do stop the algae? I have a 29 gallon with sand over eco complete soil. I use 3 pumps of easy green weekly after performing water changes. I used root tabs 2 months ago when it was planted. Light is on a 8 hour timer but gets some sunlight during the day. Tank is stocked with 3 guppies, 1 Molly, 2 nerite snails and one juvenile bristlenose Pleco. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

    • @bunnyviperaquatics2108
      @bunnyviperaquatics2108 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try avoiding the natural sunlight & cut your light hours down to six. This is the first thing I would try. Depending on the algae type, & your inhabitants, you can find certain fish that eat algae, like Florida Flag fish, for example. You can also remove the plant & give it a two minute dip in hydrogen peroxide, & remove what algae you can with your fingers. But cutting your lights duration down is the first thing you should try to restrict algae growth. Hope this helps- Good luck!

    • @Yonatan24
      @Yonatan24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had this issue, it decimated my PSO. I think the cause was a lack of nutrients since it grows so fast. It breaks down its old leaves for new growth and algae eats the dying leaves.

    Why do all you TH-camrs have anorexic looking pogostemon octopus plants? Mine are so bushy and tall. Either you guys aren’t giving it extra minerals and lighting or you’re buying from a bad seller. I bought mine off of plantfactory on eBay and they are growing insanely fast in just two weeks. They also looks healthier than yours (no offense).
