Been loving your videos recently. Currently reading through Hellboy for the first time and am on the Wild Hunt. I think this story and the first omnibus has probably been my favourite though. Totally unrelated as well but been wanting to read some Urasawa and have seen some of your vids on his work. Definitely gonna pick up Pluto, but I’m curious - outside of that would you recommend 20th century boys or Monster? Keep up the great content!
Thank you loads! Very kind and I glad you are enjoying the vids! 20th century boys I have read through twice and enjoyed it both times. It is very epic in scale and time and is full of the typical urasawa trope of teasing you the answers to mysteries by piling more mysteries on! I would maybe pick up 2 volumes have a read and if you like them then you will more than likely like the whole thing. There are some characters I enjoyed far more than others so now and again the story focus on characters you may not love but overall I really like it a lot. Read Pluto first though as that is shorter and gives you a great overview of urasawa’s style and how he paces and tells a story.
You. Are. On. Fire! I love peoples’ passion as much as I love comics and you my friend just combined these two. Your Hellboy fussing has reached @ftloc level(a rare compliment) and I am already committed to watching all the vids for this series💪🏻 I share your enthusiasm for Hellboy. Every time I read it I find myself wondering how did they manage to build so solid and consistent world despite very long run. It also shows that it’s possible and raises the bar for those who come after. Are you planning to go further than Hellboy(BPRD, Abe Sapien etc)?Just so I know how many bags of popcorn I need.
Thank you load my friend! High praise, comparing me to that high bar is dooming me to failure though! I find myself falling in love with it every time I come back to it tbh and this is without doubt the most excited I’ve been for anything on this channel, hours and hours of Hellboy! I am going to go be you the library editions and into other Hellboy titles, wired tales, young Hellboy, etc, but as far as all the others go 🤷🏻♂️
I think I can some up my feelings for this world….2004 I decided I’d had enough of the mundane day to day and decided to sell up everything I owned, and go walkabout for a few years. When I came back in 2007 all I had to my name was a few items, a friend had held onto for me. An old beaten up chair, an original piece of art that had sentimental value…and my Hellboy singles. Think that sums it up best for me. Cracking review as always Chris! 🤙🏼
What a great in-depth video 🙂💜 It's definitely pushing me to start reading the library editions properly. I only have the first 2 at the moment. I think I was spoiled by nabbing each of them for about 17 quid off Amazon years ago, so the rest seem pricey now 😂 Anyway, must get started on the first book at least - for some reason every time I approach that book I feel I need to wash my hands several times to avoid finger prints 😂
Thank you very much mate! I hate it when the Amazon random cheapness forces you into thinking things are overpriced when they are really not. I empathise! Hope you get started soon! And there’s no avoiding mucky hands so get in there!
What great timing I just started reading the library editions again and finished seed of destruction last night. I’ll be along of the ride if you do all the stories.
What a great video. This may be my favorite video of yours yet. Hellboy and Swamp Thing seem to be the comics that feel most like home for me.
Thank you loads! High praise! Much appreciated. I totally agree Hellboy is now my ultimate comfort comic.

Great! You will probably read quicker than I can make videos so bear with me!
Damn it's been 30 years? I seem to have gotten real old real fast. 🤔
I getting that way with you!
