It's definitely on my buy list thanks to you. By the way, what do you think about the current immortal hulk series? I've quit it after two issues but I keep hearing its really good now. And honestly you're the only person who could still convince me to give it another read.
Dustin Dziembala Immortal Hulk is my favorite current series by far and might be on my list of favorite series ever. I’m blown away by it. Everyone’s taste is different, but to me it’s a revelation.
I LOVE how there’s no limit to the horror genres that can influence a Hellboy story. It’s such a unique world. It’s awesome to see another Hellboy video from you, Matt! No one does it better than you!
This is super random... I was at a skate night for my daughter tonight ...and one of her friends DAD and I started talking. He asked what I do....I told him I have a show all about collecting video games and toys.....so THEN he told me he has a buddy (you) who has a comic collecting and info type show! Hahha long story short I checked you out and I'm here and stoked to watch 💯🙌
That’s what I love about Hellboy more than most other comics: it can be both a continuing story or stand alone tales. It not only helps the world building and fine tuning the tone but can also help new readers get into the universe and give returning readers a new great adventure with Hellboy. It still saddens me that the recent Hellboy movie was god-awful. It sucked so much of the charm of the comics to turn it into every other comic book movie. The only good scene in the film was when Hellboy went to see Baba Yagga, which felt closest to a classic Hellboy story. Man, I love this video so much. 2019 is the year of Matt Draper and it’s all coming full circle next month. Can’t wait for Daredevil Month!
One of the big things that drew me to Hellboy early on was the ability to incorporate so many different types of stories and folklore within it, and it really shines in the short stories. Loved the video, nicely done!
Hellboy will always remain my fav comicbook series. Loved the short stories. Small vignettes that often serve as huge plot points later on, but can also serve as fun stories that help build the small yet intricate world of the Mignolaverse
I would like you to make a video essay of Watchmen and its importance in the world of comics and their industry, although it is only a suggestion, I know you're the best man for the job. I also adore that you make video essay of more unknown stories so that the audience can know and enter the wonderful world of comics. You're one of my favorite channels of TH-cam!!!

I absolutely love corbin's art style. it makes me feel like everything has a layer of age and mildew, which really helps with the creepier aspects of the art

Absolutely stunning! That bit about M.W. Wellman blew my mind. I love his material. I have been a sporadic reader of Hellboy, but i will now jump in much deeper.
If you haven't already, try reading Judge Dread from the beginning. Great world building, and one of the only serie that runs in real time (which isn't going to matter considering it's been going since the late 70s).
Awesome video. I know Hellboy from the Mignola issues and Library editions, so the short stories illustrated (co-written?) by others is mostly unknown to me. I have to find those two Hellboy Gets Married issues. I love Mick McMahon's artwork
I know I probably shouldn't have, but the main Hellboy story was so engaging for me that I skipped the hell (ba dum tss) out of the shorts and other Mignolaverse stories. I should probably remedy that.
I recently got the Hellboy omnibuses and was surprised at the variety of short stories they had. It seemed like it came from so many different country's folklore
Good thing I caught this right as I got on my lunch break! Another amazing video! Getting more into wanting to write comics, Hellboy and Mike Mingola have been a reigning influence, and it's because of your video on The Corpse. Keep up the good work!
Mignola's inking captivated me the same way Al Williamson's and later Milt Caniff's did. I marveled at the way John Prentice (actually Williamson ghosting for him in early 1963) drew Rip Kirby's jacket with planks of white among the black making the material look shiny. I was 9 and didn't know what inking was or those mystical blends of white and black were called chiaroscuro, but I guess nobody could pronounce it so it got dumbed it down to blackspotting. No matter what it's called there are only two kinds of artists, those who can do it and those who can't. Mignola can.
Funny, I was just thinking about your channel. ComicTropes dropped a video on _Blacksad,_ the other day, which is one of my favorite videos that you've done. Glad to get another great breakdown
Another fascinating and awesome video. Thanks a lot Mr Draper If you need more ideas. Perhaps consider doing a video on Supreme by Allan Moore or Glory by Joe Keatinge and Ross Campbell, for me it truly embodies the phrase. “There are no bad characters, only bad writers”.
Great video as always. I just want to point out a small mistake. At about 18:10 you talk about Dave Stewart inking Fegredo. Duncan Fegredo was inking himself and doing ink washes and Dave Stewart was doing colors. Anyway, keep up the good work!
Can't wait to more hellboy video here, you do such a great piece of work, I remember your video on wake the devil encourage me to read the full story I have no word to tell how thankful I am
