Thanks for the thorough review. And thanks for the update on the bedbug motel in Waynesville. The last thing you wanna do is deal with bedbugs and then accidentally bring them home. Best thing to do if that happens is as soon as you get home put every stitch of clothes in the dryer on high heat, because that’s about the only thing that seems to kill bedbugs is high heat.
My Wife and I really enjoy your videos. We agree on your feeling for Maggie Valley. I've been going there most of my life (75 Years). I lived there for four years during my career with Bellsouth. I am very thankful for your Christian Testimony. Keep it up and God Bless both of you. We live in NC Southern Piedmont, about 90 mile southeast of Y'all.
Thank you so much for commenting with your kind and encouraging words. Maggie Valley is one of the most beautiful places around. Glad you got to experience living there. Again, thank you for your encouraging comment.
That’s right in my back yard! Next time I want to get away… I’ll have to go there! Thank you for your videos. As usual, I’m behind…. Keep ‘em coming! So glad you got to go enjoy it.
You got to see the snow! We didn’t get much here. It got bitter cold though! I went a few nights worrying about my water pipes, but thankfully, it all went well. Old homes, you have to worry with a lot in the miuntains.
Thankfully, you didn't have any problems with your water pipes. That is definitely a concern when it is this cold. Yes, we were very glad to have seen that much snow up at Soco Gap.
Yall are so funny ! Love the DARK ROOM explanation and never had thought of it that way! Electrical tape over the AC unit's display was priceless. Glad yall had a nice place to stay in Maggie Valley.
When my daughter, granddaughter and I started vacationing at Maggie Valley, this is the first place we stayed. Jonathan Creek was the best thing we enjoyed, sitting in the rocking chairs. Thanks for the memories!
I have stayed here several times and loved it. My cousin and I were treated like family. The balcony was great and the creek in the back was so amazing to experience!!! Jonathon Creek Inn is my favorite but they are way to expensive now. Four Seasons is a great and the rooms are spacious.
Thank you so much for your review, now I know where we can stay when we go to Maggie Valley, I love that you’re honest about your experience and I’m sure we all appreciate it! I love you channel you give lots of great information! I will continue to follow you both, such a sweet couple ❤❤❤
@@NCMemoryMakers ok will do! Oh thanks for the info on the bed bugs at the other place, that was good to know, and the scared of the dark story was cute and funny lol
We had a great experience at the Four Seasons and will definitely stay again. As you said Thelma was very helpful. We decided to come a day early and she fixed us up in a room. Got to change to the one assigned to us the next morning. They had it cleaned and ready in no time. Loved seeing this review, brought back memories of our trip. This kind of review is very helpful, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the review! Y’all might like the Route Nineteen Inn in Maggie Valley. It’s a retro style hotel with an old drive-in theme. We had a room by Jonathans creek. Microwave, small fridge, coffeemaker. Very clean. Nice owners.
Thank you so much for watching. We are glad you enjoyed the videos. Yes, we enjoyed our first stay there, I'm glad you have had good experiences, as well.
Thank you for the review. We have never visited Maggie Valley. This looks perfect for us. What are your favorite things to do in Maggie Valley? We are not too familiar. Would probably be visiting in the summer months. Will definitely watch your restaurant reviews in the area as well.
Maggie Valley is a beautiful place to relax and take in the mountain scenery. As far as activities, it is not like the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge side of the Park. It is far more laid back. What we recommend, is getting on the Blue Ridge Parkway and driving and just taking in the overlooks. Take in a sunrise or sunset at Waterrock Knob. It is famous for both, as it has openings facing to the East and to the West. We would also recommend Cataloochee Valley to see the elk. Be aware that the road into there can be tough, and you might want to watch our other video on that. But that is easily doable if you are staying in Maggie Valley. There are many short hikes in the area, including a walk to Soco Falls. Get a room that has a balcony facing Jonathan Creek, and just sit on your deck and relax. If you did go in the winter, they have snow skiing at Cataloochee. I know you said you want to go in the summer, and that is a great time to go, as well. It is usually not hot in the summer as it is in the lower altitudes. Drive across the mountain 15 miles, and check out the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Take in the outdoor drama called "Unto These Hills", which tells the story of the Trail of Tears, which is the removal of the Cherokee from their native land. Those are the highlights that come to mind immediately.
@NCMemoryMakers thank you so very much. What is the "rough road" you are talking about? Is there another road to take in its place to the area? We love the BRP. We are not too familiar with Cherokee or Maggie Valley. This is helpful. We were thinking about coming from Gatlinburg to Maggie Valley to relax...this looks perfect. Love sitting outside, listening to the river, and we enjoy hiking. We have not gone to Soco falls, its on our list. Thank you so very much.
@paulettebrochet2011 The road I'm talking about, is the road into Cataloochee Valley. Not the road into Maggie Valley itself. I'm simply suggesting Cataloochee as an option of an activity to do. But the road to it, is one you will need to use extreme caution on. You can either come in from Tennessee, or from Maggie Valley. Both ways, it is a very narrow and rough dirt road in spots...Some blind curves. If you are careful and drive slow, you'll be fine. Just want to prepare you. You can see a little bit of the road at the end of our video, on the Cataloochee Valley, from October of 2022. th-cam.com/video/veHmLD8SFgU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gZjtqD1qScU1eMOh
Always love your reviews on everything you always tell the good and the bad. I am interested in pet friendly lodging. Do you have a list or videos on the best and which to avoid. Mountains and the SC coast?
We do not have a list, per se. We just try to find pet-friendly lodging when we go somewhere. There is a website called bringfido.com, and you can find that information there.
@johnpinckney4979 We have not. We were actually wanting to go next weekend since they are having a festival in town, but they are sold out. And the room rates are very high in town for that event, anyway. But we definitely will.
My wife and I are subscribers to your channel and really like your reviews of restaurants and especially motels as they help us decide where to stay. One question what cameras do you use?
I noticed at the beginning of the video that you said they offered room service. I thought room service was ordering food from the motel. You said if you don't want room service you can place the placard on the door. Am I mistaken with the meaning of room service? Love the video though
I probably should have said maid service. Meaning, that they come by and clean your room and make up your bed each day. Pretty much all motels used to do this, but now very few do.
So sorry for the hand problems you are having. I did send you a PM on Messenger. Saw the post on FB. My daughter has EDS and Chiari and had sone connective tissue problems. She has seen Dr. Julie Freischlag she is a vascular surgeon and CEO of the hospital at Wake Forest Atrium in Winston Salem. My daughter really likes her.
Good morning. I'm just seeing this comment because it got held for review. I checked messenger for your message on our NCMemoryMakers page and on my personal page, and I couldn't find the message. I don't have an appointment in Winston yet, so I don't know who the Dr will be. Thank you for reaching out and letting me know. I hope your daughter is doing well. Have a blessed day!
Because it is a non-smoking room now. At one time, it wasn't. That's why there was just a slight lingering odor. Plus, it was the last pet-friendly room they had. We had no choice.
I have a lot different opinion about motel floors. I can’t stand the hard cold echoey floors that a lot of motels are “updating” their rooms with. I get it that carpet can seem like it’s dirtier, but if it’s vacuumed properly, it doesn’t bother me. I’m getting older and my feet can’t take the hard coldness as much anymore, lol. I actually won’t stay in a motel that has echoey floors like that, very uncomfortable.
I understand. As long as the floor is clea, I'm not bothered either way. Maybe a pair of slippers or something that are padded and warm, might be helpful. You could put them on the minute you get out of the bed. But I understand what you're saying. The thing about it, is that most pet friendly rooms are going to have hard floors like this.
@jamesboswell760 We feel that we were treated exceptionally well, by getting a clean room and friendly service, at a fair price. We don't spend a lot of time in the room, so we see no point in paying exorbitant prices. We're just regular people.

Yes, that was the first time we've ever dealt with this issue in a motel, and it was not pleasant.

Why didn’t you move once you realized it wasn’t a no smoking room?
Because it is a non-smoking room now. At one time, it wasn't. That's why there was just a slight lingering odor.

Can you unscrew the bulb
They did come and do that the second night.
Not exactly luxurious but adequate with a nice view.
That is correct. We usually look for adequate. We rarely ever stay in a luxury hotel. As long as it's clean, that's the main thing for us.
