Thank you for posting this video of the one and only Superfoot Bill Wallace!
I remember when he conducted a seminar in my hometown Braunschweig, Germany in the mid 1980s..., and someone asked him why most kick boxers were not able to defend against his left kick (even though they knew that he used his left leg most of the time), he responded with the words, "...because I do 10,000 kicks with my left leg every day!" Practice makes perfect. Repetition, repetition, repetition!

He started out as a judokan then was in a car wreck that damaged hs right knee/leg..... I was in my teens and went to see Mr. Wallace fight once and he was insanely fast with that left roundhouse. iwould have loved to see him and Chuck norris fight but they were in different weight divisions.
. Later I heard someone, another fighter, say 'You know he's gonna throw that kick. You know it's coming. You know it's all he has. You know it's his power move. You see it start to come at you.... and there's not a damn thing you do about'

About 6-7 of us got to work out with Bill around 2002 for about 3 hours. We did sparring, stretches, form work. The guy is a legend and couldn't have been any nicer. He wasn't there to sell equipment, some magic system - nothing. Great memories.

I practiced and studied Shotokan Karate in Japan from 1975 to 1978. My Sensei, Hitoshi Akiyama, was in his late 50's at the time. He was the number 4 "Karate-Ka" of the Japanese Karate Association (JKA). Bill Wallace trained under Sensei Akiyama sometime in the late 1960's to the early 1970's. Earninga black belt in Shotokan.

There ain't nobody who kicks as well as the legendary Bill Superfoot Wallace. He got so specialized with that left foot! The greatest kickers all lift the knee high. That's what I always look about a kick. How high does the knee go.

I studied with Mr. Wallace in 1973 (I was just 14) in Memphis, when he was an instructor with Master Kang Rhee's PaSaRyu Martial Arts Academy (which was very near Graceland, as Elvis Presley was still alive at the time and a private student with Master Rhee as well)... Mr. Wallace assisted me with my sparring technique, and his left foot was absolutely lethal and there was none faster. I recall how he would flick my eyeglasses from my face with surgical/laser-like finesse; after about a dozen times, I finally learned to just leave my glasses off from then on... Mr. Wallace (at that time) was no-nonsense about sparring, and now looking back 45 years, I realize his insistence on speed and technique was truly the real deal. I am grateful to both him and Master Rhee...

Been a fan of his since I was a kid. A unique approach to kicking. However, once leg kicks are brought into the equation it changes things. I realized way back that it was better to incorporate his style into a more comprehensive style. Martial arts have really evolved today. And western boxing is much more appreciated, whereas during Mr. Wallace’s era it was given more of a perfunctory attention. Wallace later developed a somewhat decent left hook. I think that opened up his game even more. Anyway, stuff like this is being revisited by today’s modern fighter. Someone who can develop this dexterity and combine it with a more comprehensive fighting arsenal could have an edge in the ring. How many sparring partners could you find w this level of dexterity and universal chambering?

I've seen tapes of Van Damme sparing with some UFC fighters and his leg speed is very fast. HOWEVER, I've seen demonstrations by SuperFoot over the years and to this day his speed is still the fastest. He always is 3-5 steps ahead of where, and how, he's going to kick you. Great leg strength, Great leg speed, and great control of both legs. Let's see that fat bastard Segal block one of Superfoots kicks. Great video

Depends who you fight and where. Where I train, some of the people came from other styles so it's a weird mix. I came from tkd/kickboxing so I have a ton of front leg kicks. This other older guy came from tkd as well, but from a different time period, so he has a bunch of crazy spinning kicks. And we have one dude who did shotokan, and he loves to do wierd striking counters. So it's really interesting. Especially when you compare that to the people who started out at this gym who all have a kickboxing judo hybrid mma thing going on. So a couple of us tend to make fights a little weird, forgoing leg kicks and clinching for sneakier things like hook kicks, axe kicks, and just quick front leg snapping kicks. It's really cool to see, because you can see the effectiveness of some of the older martial arts techniques, but you also see how they face up against simpler more aggressive modern style fighting.

Few things are as terrifying as an old dude, who's kept himself in shape, and has been training a specific fight technique for longer than you've been alive.
Whether it's salty old boxers, judoka and jujitsu rollers, or master level karateka or tae Kwon do guys they are always the most devestating bc the still have decent physicality (compared to most guys these days at least) but they have flawless technique, the skill to know when to throw in what at what target, and most of all they have the patience to wait for the perfect spot.

I feel Mr.Bill Wallace shudda in early delved in making movies like Mr.Norris, (Jackie) Chan, Snipes, Van Damme, Lundgren, Jai White, Steven Seagal, (Jet) Li, Jason Statham, (Donnie) Yen, Scott Adkins, (Ray) Park, (Tony) Jaa or evn Michael Dudikoff. If this gentleman's facial features was thought as not so suited for anyone in the "hero-protagonist role", I again feel He'd still make one 'ell ouvva formidable character in the villainy role tho.

People are probably thinking, it would be better if he could use his right leg too. In theory yes, but in reality, due to his right knee injury he is able to stick to the one leg and perfect it like a surgeon. If he didn't have the knee injury, he have just had average kicks on both left and right legs. But don't forget his punching power too!! He was knocking people out with his hands more than his legs.

I love watching Bill Wallace in his younger years.
Pity we NO longer see Bill Wallace showing off his legendary 3 kicks. Has Mr Wallace got stiff with old age ? All we now see is his low side kick its sad to watch greatness getting old. Go on Wallace start those high kicks of yours again , no one cares about low side kicks.

Wow. Those were the good old days. Empire State Karate felt like family. I've been to several martial arts schools and gyms since then and I haven't had the same level of connection with fellow practitioners as I did at ESK.

True Story: Bill agreed to fight me in 1987 at the half-time intermission for the WWF Wrestlemania event. It started off with Superfoot kicking my left nut by accident and it literally exploded. He then did immediate surgery by transferring Andre The Giant’s 3rd testicle into me. My left knee and ankle have arthritis now due to the uneven weight distribution on my left side because my left nut weighs 73 pounds.

Miss his old movies as a bad guy. He really gave lead actors hard time to avoid his attacks, that scared them sometimes.
