I’m so glad that we can see Huell on TH-cam… used to love his show growing up in LA… now since I’ve found him on TH-cam I’ve been binge watching his show. Lol .. I’ve heard that the dairy closed down but reopened.. I hope so because they really are a rare and authentic jewel in Southern California. I wonder if the dad “owner of the dairy” is still around. I hope so and am so sorry that we lost Heull … He might be gone, but certainly not forgotten.
I go there every year from Bakersfield to buy my eggnog and chocolate milk. Been going ever since green frog market closed down they were the only ones who sold it. So now I take my ice chest and load up and they even put ice for me when I tell them how far I drove. Hope they never change.
this was the first time I ever saw huell on TV, I bought a bottle of broguiere's today, it isn't even that good, but something about the memory makes me keep reaching for it
it was much better before the Broguiere's-Closing scare about 2 years ago. Someone speculated they may have changed ownership recently (hence the eggnog tasting different and coming in plastic bottles as of December 2021). While they do sell at different retailers, going to the original Montebello dairy and tasting all of their milk, chocolate milk, and eggnog in glass was incredibly delicious, you wouldn't believe it. We're definitely in dark times.
Altadena Dairy also has excellent eggnog, they're usually available through Trader Joe's, we had home delivery, Dave the Milkman had a key to the garage and would put products in the garage fridge... of course this is probably 50 plus years ago, we lived near LAX in a neighborhood called Westchester...LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES
I had to come watch this again once I heard the news that Broguiere's is closing after 99 years. At least these records of it will live on but what a terrible shame nobody will taste this milk ever again.
Unlike most place that is going thru gentrification. This place has gone thru ghettotrification. The neighborhood is like a Ghetto similar to East L.A. But at least it is not like the rest of the San Gabriel Valley where it has turn to a different kind of Ghetto and becomes like a giant Chinatown. If you cross the 60 fwy into Monterey Park, then you would think that you are in Chinatown or at least in the Asia continent. So if you are an old timer from Montebello and want to come by Broguierre's Dairy and see your old stumping ground, it is not the same anymore.
the cities surrounding Montebello is undergoing gentrification especially Inglewood with the new stadium going up, Montebello is an island of ghetto surrounded by 1 million dollar homes.
@@KennyboyGM Yes. But it is still more expensive than Central Pennsylvania or Amarillo, Texas. It is a ghetto but a very expensive ghetto. I couldn't afford to live there and move to Central Pennsylvania.
I miss Huell and his programs. A lot of good memories growing up watching his shows with my family. RIP Huell.
Thank you KCET and Huell Howser! forever..
