I just received my first pair for my new MAVIC AIR 2. After watching your video I was curious to see if mine would do the same thing. I was surprised to see that my new Master Airscrew props made my drone do the same thing that you showed in your video. I changed back to the OEM DJI props and had no problem. I just got the orange ones on Friday and no problems with them. The edge is smooth and after watching this video I checked and my air 2 is setting rock solid with the props running. No vibration at all.
I just compared the balance of stock and Master air screw (Du.Bro balancer). Three out of four Master air screw props are way out of balance while all the stock props are spot on at least horizontally. None would balance vertically. A properly balanced prop will hold it's position in any position. The vertical position checks the center of the prop (hub) while the horizontal position (on the balancer) checks the farther out areas of the prop.

Thank you Russ for putting out this video. I recently received the orange Master Airscrew props for the Mavic Air 2. I did not notice the vibration you were referring too, but I did notice the fit and finish of the blade. The leading edge and trailing edge were like you mentioned rough like a bad trim. I also noticed that some of the joints in the propeller were loose and some were a little tighter. I think you are spot on that these seemed to be rushed to get them out. I am worried about the balance now. This was my first purchase with Master Airscrew based on your reviews and others in the past. I hope they will take care of it. I will send them an email like you suggested.
I just checked the new MAS props on my MA2 for vibration on a smooth surface and they performed fine even though the edges have a ruff texture caused by un-trimed flashing. After the initial spool up of the motors my MA2 sat stationary with no hint of movement or vibration so I’m going to take them out later for an actual test flight.
I sent off an email to MAS concerning the balance problem with my Mavic Air 2 props. I most likely do what I've been doing with props for 25 years....balance them. Will keep you posted & tanks for bring this to my attention
@@scottspradley4293 Hi Scott, I use a DU-BRO balancer. Make sure the props are exactly in line. For horizontal imbalance sand away material (250 grit emery cloth) from the outer ares of the prop. For vertical imbalance remove material from the area closest to the center of the prop. It doesn't take much so do a little at a time.
@@MitchellPetersoncustomdrone I'll try that this weekend. I watched a guy put MA2 prop on balance shaft and spin it in an electric drill just enough to straighten then to balancer. We will see.
@@MitchellPetersoncustomdrone mine had same “vibration “. I used a 3M sanding block to finish the Un-finished edges. Then tried the Dubro balancer. Only 1 was out of balance more than other 3 and any of the stock props I have, new and used. Getting them straight on the balance rod is the only real issue but after a while I could just tell if they were straight or not. Also, trying to spin them on an electric drill does not get them straightened out, it won’t spin them fast enough. It won’t spin the stock ones fast enough either. (Milwaukee M18 Fuel brushless on high speed). It seemed after the sanding of the rough edges, that helped a LOT to get them balanced. I haven’t flown it yet but I’ll let ya know.
Yesterday I decided to fly my Mavic 2 Pro, new orange Master Airscrew props..in air I noticed it seemed a little shaky. Will have to check the other set of props I just got from them too. Thanks Russ for the heads up.
I bought them after watching your review for my mavic air 1, had the same issues. Tons of vibration so I chucked them and went back factory just to be safe. I almost ordered them for my MA2..glad I didn't now. Thanks for the great content!
Mine came yesterday. I noticed the "weird" edges out of the box. Haven't flown it yet. Keep us up to date on Master Airscrews response. I almost afraid to put mine in the air now. Thanks Russ!
I just got the black ones a few days ago. Mine are working perfectly however, there was a delay in shipping. Maybe they were able to quickly resolve the issue after your review.
I've had the MAS Stealth propellers (orange) for my M2P for a few weeks now, but just tried them indoors for the first time and immediately noticed the gimbal vibrating badly. I took them off and put back the DJI props and no vibration whatsoever. I will not use these in flight - I just don't trust them. Seems its a QC issue overall as of late. I think everyone needs to check on this so that they don't damage the motors. Thanks for the video, Russ!
I appreciate everything you had to say about the props. Yours is the third review I've seen on the new props and it's the only one that had any issues. The other two reviews had a little better flight time and much quieter drone. I wonder if you got a bad batch?
Thanks so much for the updates Russ, really appreciate your thorough videos, always helpful. I ordered the Orange and Blue Master Airscrew props December 25th, and they haven’t arrived yet. Perhaps their aware of the issue you’ve shown us and have delayed delivery?? This is disappointing news, but I’m willing to keep an open mind and see what happens.
I just received mine on Saturday and first flight today. I never noticed any of the issues you are having. I have the orange ones and they look and preform great. I noticed a little more sensitivity on maneuvering and a tad bit quieter no vibration while on the pad. Maybe quality control missed yours. Anyway I’m very happy with mine.
My Air 2 did the floor dance as well. I took extra fine steel wool and rubbed down the leading and trailing edges until smooth. It solved the problem for me. Absolutely no floor creep now. Agreed you shouldn’t have to do this but it’s easier than doing a return plus I do like the smoother noise that they get.
Damm this is disconcerning....my orange air 2 props have been shipped and will be here tomorrow. Thank you Russ for this video, because now I know what to look for when I open the box tomorrow
Absolutely valuable information. I was thinking about these two days ago, but decided to hold off on it. I'm sure glad I did. I know that they will make it right, but it's just the disappointment of going through the process. Thanks for the video, well worth it.
Ordering these the day they came out and waiting for delivery to Australia, I'm sorry to say my experience mirrors yours Russ. I have just only been able to test mine today and have just sent an email to Master Airscrew customer service. I hope their customer service is as good as your recommendation :)
I bought the new MAS for MA2 but haven't tested it yet. But I already realized the edges of the propeller are not porperly cleaned up from plastic rests. I think that's the problem... Thank you for your report that may warn other potential customers. Since I live in Germany I paid nearly 40$ for the propellers and hope to get back my money.
Thanks for your honest reviews. I've got their props on my Mavic Pro and my Mavic 2 Pro. I keep my OEM props as spares, except that I bought a spare set of Master Airscrew props for my M2P because I loved them more than the OEM props.
I only use stock props and I remove all 4 after every session of flying before storing everything in my fly longer bag. It gives me an extra opportunity to examine the props and also reduces the risk of bending or warping.
Thank you for sharing. I also purchased the Master Airscrew for my Mavic Air a while back and was impressed with the results. Because of my experience with the original Air I placed an order for my Mavic Air 2. I should be receiving them soon. I will conduct a thorough test before flying. I will definitely contact customer service if I notice any issues. I also purchased a set for my Phantom 4 Pro. Thanks again and be safe.
Thank you for the review brother Russ. I am just like you Sir. I love drone accessories and i am crazy about new propellers especially MasterAirscrew ones. I also have the Dji Mavic Air 2 and i am waiting to get some, but now after watching your video i am not going to because i will not put my drone through that hassle. Keep up the good work Sir and keep us updated. Thanks for all you do and please keep flying.
Great video Russ thx alot! I ordered a set of 4 props same color, orange, and I was wondering why Master Airscrew is taking so long to ship them to me (Ordered on Jan.2, 2021) and as of today Jan.11, 2021 I have not received any confirmation of shipment yet. Now watching your video and the Master Airscrew explanation " It's also the reason we have some delay in shipping" I feel much better, thx again!
Yes you can hear the quad vibrating on the floor ..you could try balancing them might clear up the problem. we used to have to balance props all the time many years ago... see if that helps if they improve then you have solved the problem for them..
Always great information Russ! I received my black ones from MAS a few weeks ago. I was surprised at the molding when I took them out of the box and have held off trying them out. Thank you for your honest review! Looking forward to the follow-up!!
Hi Russ, I ordered my Master Air Screw props prior to watching this video. I hoped that when mine arrived that they would not be like the ones you demonstrated. Well, I got mine today and I put them on and set my Air 2 on my deck and started the drone. It was rock solid and no shifting in the camera image. So, i hope that your set was just an isolated incident. Again, thanks for the great review and keep up the good work.
These props work ok on my Air2S...however the response time is slower and stop time is also slower. Very noticeable...and a bit scary, so I will stay with the stock props, very crisp response and control is spot on.
Rus. Thanks for the complete honesty. It shows that you are not byest to and company or product and is jere to give is honest and trie reviews. Huge 👍🏻
Still waiting on mine. Bought blue and orange. Hoping maybe the delay is based on them fixing this issue before they ship more bad props. Thanks for the information, Russ!
Is is at all possible that the Master Air Screw props are providing slightly more lift and the drone is now almost flying while being buffeted at the same time from the prop wash? Just a thought - I'm anxious to see what the problem it no matter what. I fly an Air 2 for work and was thinking of getting these props.
Hi Russ Totally agree with you, I received mine here in Northern Ireland couple days ago and very shock to the quality of the props for my air 2. I will shoot them off an email in the morning.
Thanks for this review/warning. I ordered 2 sets of these Master Airscrew props for my MA2 about 10 days ago, however, they are yet to be delivered. Once they arrive I am going to inspect them thoroughly, and conduct a ground test for both sets to check for any vibration/imbalance before any flights. Depending on the results of my ground test, and the response from Master Airscrew I will decide whether, or not to keep, and use them, or return for replacement, or a refund.
Great find! I have used MAS props for my Mavic pro, Mavic air and now M2pro with no problems. My last order of props for my M2pro were definitely looks different and like you said looks like the QA dept have changed and that was the first thing I noticed and these were ordered 6 months from my first set. I'll definitely look more into them the next time I fly. Thanks for catching this.
Hey Russ... Glad I checked out this video on the MAS MA2 replacement props. I did buy a set, and like yourself notice out of the box, the leading edges and the tips had a very small flashing line on them. I thought it odd. The other MAS props I got for my 2Pro, didn't have this. I also noticed that the prop blades seem a bit snug on their hinge points. Any distortion on the leading edge of a prop can lead to some balance or vibration problems. I would be interesting to put these props in a RC blade balancer and see how they check out. I've not flown my MA2 with these props yet, and think I might be contacting MAS and let them know what I've found. Thanks for the heads-up.
In Australia here... Ordered these 10 days ago... Received an email today from them advising due to 'unprecedented demand' that there will be a lengthy delay now in delivery... I'm sure your review is most likely responsible.... So thank you.... Looking forward to getting them soon
That's one of the reason I never really like to use 3rd party equipment. Always seems to never be 100% as perfect as the OEM gear. VERY nice & useful video again !
I just ordered the Stealth props for the Air 2S. Glad to see this. I fly fixed wing RC and have a prop balancer I think I’ll use when the order arrives.
Thank you very much for this post. I ordered two sets of these props for my new Air 2 and have just received them this morning. I haven't tested them yet but both sets have what seem to be that same clearly-unfinished edges, so I'm a little concerned.
Could the pitch of the prop be slightly more aggressive and the drone is actually becoming airborne at idle? Does it fly differently in the air at speed?
Ordered a set last week and they still haven't shipped,, no updates from them, I Wonder if they've been getting a lot of complaints and have stopped all shipments till they fix them. Cuz I would have thought I would have gotten something in a week's time. I will have to email them Monday and cancel my order before they actually do ship if they're not fixing it.. Thanks Russ for pointing this out..
Thank you sir for this review. I was not even aware of this company but am interested in their products. I have always made sure to use the OEM products for fear my DJI Care would be rejected if there was a tragic issue. Should I be concerned about this? Cheers.
Props are such an important component of a quad, I like to put my props on a balancer and make sure they are somewhat balanced before I take the quad out for a flight.
Russ, we had a different situation with the new master air props fir the P4V2. I flew at a meet with Kelly Shores and Chris Hope several weeks ago to trying out the new props for the P4, they flew great and were quieter. However, we had a very hard time removing the props after flying; Chris ended up using electrical tape, as friction, to eventually remove all four props.
Russ - excellent exposé. You represented the community interest with integrity and honesty. However, I can just picture the guys at DJI saying, ‘what’s the issue with the props we give you ? ‘.
Got mine a few days ago and I am going on my madden flight in the AM. All the side edges look like garbage. Bad mold proses with no clean up. I can see why they may be out of balance as the plastic "flair" on the edges are not consistent. Also they are much thinner and flex so much easer than the stock ones. I will fly tomorrow and also see what they say back to me before i try cleaning up the edges. Oh, also the pivots are not consistent. some are tighter than others. They just feel really cheep. I guess the last word will be the flight in the morning. Thanks for your honesty, i just saw another review that was saying it was a "safety feature" how easily they break compared to stock props. All we can do is wait for improvements I guess.
Thank you for creating this review, I almost purchased the orange ones last night so I had a better line of sight visibility. I think I will wait and hopefully, Master Airscrew will be able to adjust their molds or whatever the cause of these errors.
Hey Russ, Not sure if you'll read this but anybody else who happens to see this I received mine a couple days ago, and I inspected them and did notice where they would cut them there did seem to be some extra trim on it, I used a small exacto knife and trimmed that off and also worked the blades back and forth to get them to be a little bit looser,, I put them on my drone and did exactly the same thing you did in the drone stood still and once I got it in the air it was completely stable with no issues. Hope this helps anybody else out as mine seem to be okay but there is definitely something going on with the cutting process, I did send an email out to them and have never heard back yet..
I had a minor quality issue with the Mavic 2 props when they first came out and I was more then satisfied with their customer support. I'm confident they will make you whole soon. Looking forward to you follow up video.
Purchased some Chinese props for my DJI Spark and they are perfect. Price isn't always the gauge. They came from Ali X and cost US$10. They really are beautifully made and super quiet. You really should do a comparison video.
Thanks for this video. I bought a Mavic Air 2 over the holidays but haven't flown it yet. I also got the orange props. I'm hoping got good weather in Seattle to test out myself.
Just got a set, ordred around Jan 2nd mailed out around Jan 13th from Master Airscrew directly not Amazone etc. I ran the vibrating test. Nothing. Smooth edges. Flew great in a short test. There must be a bad batch out there. Glad I saw this video so I knew how to test them. I got black because red was sold out. Much quieter to the ear more than I think video audio can tell you
Yeah so I received the orange props and like Russ said they were ruff cut, not really good quality. I used my razor knife and shaved the props a little tiny bit...Put them on the MA2 and started the motors and had a little bit of vibration. I tried it on several different spots around my house and did have some unusual vibes. I contacted MAS via email and am waiting on a response!
I am going to ask, if the props are more efficient could they also providing more lift at idle? Taking some weight off. Maybe not, as the blue and orange are even the same. Thanks
I thought of that too but if this strange behavior is to be expected, if it's the new normal then the manufacturer should explain that so people don't get concerned.
Good video. Thank you. A close up of the issue on the props would help. Is it flash from the molding process? Will be interested in hearing any follow up you receive. Thanks for your videos Russ. Much appreciated.
@@JayStockhaus 😮 I already sent them 3 emails and pictures but I didn't receive any answers. Somebody told me these propellers can destroy the Mavic Air 2 motor, what do you think? Thanks
Hey, have you noticed some light scratches on the front upper shell of drone, right beneath the tip of Airscrew prop? It's perfectly uniform scratches on both sides from the props flexing under flight load. I too was happy with performance of these, until I saw that they definitely make contact with body during flight.
Excellent honesty Russ 👏 a hard trait to find with most reviewers now days. I am still waiting on mine perhaps it's the slow mail or maybe Masterairscrew is changing them before shipping out to me. Hopefully just a bad set you received and not alot of more pilots received these. Great video and ill keep you posted once I receive mine. Happy flying 😁
Have you tried checking the weights of each of the orange ones. Do they all match? How about sanding the rough edges a bit and seeing if that makes a difference and then balancing weight again. Also can you check the balance of each prop. In other words I’m curious if you can identify the issue and is it fixable by an owner.
Actually one of the best drone channels on youtube, not only with entertainment but making sure we all stay up to date with the laws, thanks for all the help russ
Others (some reviewers0 seem to like these props, but I can see you know them very well, and your video is certainly convincing. I'm not going to buy any other props until I have to, then I'll check back in with you again. For now I'll use the 4 sets that I have from DJI.
OMG, great catch! I just received these as well but haven't done any flights or tests yet due to rainy weather. Going to check out the props for extra flash and the quality. Hope to see a follow-up on this... Thanks!!
I purchased the orange props last summer. I commented on one of the other Master Airscrew videos that you produced... I actually had one of the orange props malfunction and fold up one of the front arms during flight causing a crash. I won't be using these anymore.
Your channel is fast becoming one of my favorite drone channels. I love your frankness and honesty and I hope the channel remains unbiased. Too many youtubers get bought out with free stuff or sponsorship and sadly it hurts the channel in the end. You save me personally from trying these, maybe they'll get it fixed, let's hope so.
Now I have not listened to the whole vid but the jump and vibration your seeing could be that these new props provide greater lift than the ORM blades. The vib could be from greater lift allowing the craft to shutter. Who knows.

@@scottspradley4293 Sweet. have a great weekend Scott
I contacted MAS and told them about your review, they said they fixed the issue, so I ordered them for my air2 s. I have no issues and they fly great.
Yup! Just received a set and man do the vibrate! So much it thrown my gyro off and almost puts the quad into the ground!
Thats not good at all. I'm surprised they didn't test these before shipping them out. Unless the ones they tested had no issues
Wow, mine are on the way, yikes. We'll see. Thanks for the heads up Russ.
Good catch Russ, Great review
I appreciate everything you had to say about the props. Yours is the third review I've seen on the new props and it's the only one that had any issues. The other two reviews had a little better flight time and much quieter drone. I wonder if you got a bad batch?
Yes, that is what I think, but that means others have also.
Update, Got a email from MAS they are sending out new props to me . they indicated they replaced tooling and and were aware of the issue.
You're exactly right. The mavic Air 2 is already very quiet. Great video thank you
I just received mine on Saturday and first flight today.
Thanks for that
Absolutely valuable information.
Great info. I am looking into getting quieter props for my Mavic Air 2. I think I'll wait. Thanks Russ.
I love the color options and different pitch from Master Airscrew props but glad I didn't get these yet for my Air 2. Thanks Russ!
I ordered an orange set and they are supposed to be delivered this coming Monday 01/11. I’ll be checking this out! Thanks for calling this issue out!
Always great information Russ! I received my black ones from MAS a few weeks ago. I was surprised at the molding when I took them out of the box and have held off trying them out. Thank you for your honest review! Looking forward to the follow-up!!
Hi Russ,
I ordered my Master Air Screw props prior to watching this video.
Hi Russ
Totally agree with you, I received mine here in Northern Ireland couple days ago and very shock to the quality of the props for my air 2.
Great find, keep us posted on when they do change them to fix that problem as I'm in anticipation on the Mini 2 props that are in the works from them!
In Australia here... Ordered these 10 days ago... Received an email today from them advising due to 'unprecedented demand' that there will be a lengthy delay now in delivery... I'm sure your review is most likely responsible.... So thank you.... Looking forward to getting them soon
No, they had that statement on the website even before my review.
Russ, thanks for makeing this video.
Now I know why my order is takeing so long. I ordered some on Dec. 31st
I will check them whenever I get them.
Thanks for the heads up. I’m waiting on a set of orange props. I’ll definitely test them, and post on YT.
Could the pitch of the prop be slightly more aggressive and the drone is actually becoming airborne at idle? Does it fly differently in the air at speed?
thats what I was thinking. it generates lift at idle more than the stock. idle motor speed is configured for stock w/c has lower pitch
Oh man. Mine are being delivered this saturday. I'll have to check them out right away, and return them if I have to. Thx for the video.
Cheers.
Thanks for the honest information. I was thinking of ordering some but I'm going to wait.
I'm glad I saw this before I ordered mine. Others on TH-cam said they were good but I glad to see your review... Thank you!
Good to see you discuss the good and the bad. I'm glad you are not owned by your sponsors and fair enough to give a true review
That is invaluable!
An honest review, as we have come to expect from you. Thank you Russ and stay safe.
Thank you for creating this review, I almost purchased the orange ones last night so I had a better line of sight visibility. I think I will wait and hopefully, Master Airscrew will be able to adjust their molds or whatever the cause of these errors.
Hey Russ,
Not sure if you'll read this but anybody else who happens to see this I received mine a couple days ago, and I inspected them and did notice where they would cut them there did seem to be some extra trim on it, I used a small exacto knife and trimmed that off and also worked the blades back and forth to get them to be a little bit looser,,
I put them on my drone and did exactly the same thing you did in the drone stood still and once I got it in the air it was completely stable with no issues.
I was out in front of the house and neighbors all commented on how stable the air 2 was at hover BUT now I will do an idle test as well. ( good eye )
Dang I have 2 sets of the orange ones being delivered tomorrow, I will check them out for sure. Thanks for the video Russ.
That's why I use only the original..
Let us know man!
Same here. Bought myself a set over the weekend. Hopefully we wont have an issue
My orange ones coming in this Friday 1-15. We will see.
Let us know dude!
I got a set of the orange ones that also look like the edges weren't finished, and I also got motor errors when I was flying.
I got in touch with them and they are aware of the problem and are sending me a new set.
@@JayStockhaus 😮 I already sent them 3 emails and pictures but I didn't receive any answers. Somebody told me these propellers can destroy the Mavic Air 2 motor, what do you think? Thanks
I just got a blue set and all four of them were for CCW. Now I'm waiting for a response from them.
Super, thanks a lot, I just made the same experience with my mini 2.
Great review Russ. I just ordered a set for my Mavic Air 2. I sure hope mine are cut properly. That's concerning.
I recieved last week the black ones. They work fine!
Who knows.
WOW, Thank you, Russ, for this important review and update. This is critical information in your video. Well Done and Timely.
Thanks for the information have to take a closer look at my blue ones.
I just ordered a set of these and should be here tomorrow. I’ll see if the same thing happens.
