After a lot of experimentation with mixing rums my favorite is Denizen's 8 you mentioned at the start. BTW to clarify some misinformation that is out there, the Hamilton Pot Still Black is not an "aged rum". Ed Hamilton notes as such in a shared text over at the "Rum Wonk" web site.
Thanks for the reply! While I knew the Pot Still Black was just the Pot Still Gold with added color, I had not heard Ed say the Gold was unaged and also used caramel coloring. Thanks for pointing that out! And to anyone else reading this: that doesn't change the fact that it's a great rum, but if you're put off by that, I suggest Appleton Estate or Smith and Cross as alternatives.

@@speakeasyspirits Agree! Hamilton's Jamaican "Pot Still" rums (Black or Gold) are some of my favorite mixing rums.
