Thanks! I try not to be too precious about the process. I want people to know they don't have to settle for bad drinks, good drinks aren't difficult. Over-polished videos make it seem harder than it should be.
Very glad I found your video. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cocktails but this by far is the best lesson for old fashions on TH-cam. In my opinion, you crush any other lesson video on this particular cocktail. Bravo!
This is a fun video. Your Christmas Spice Cookie Old Fashioned comes the closest to what I do. I use a packet of Sugar in the Raw and MUDDLE it with five dashes on Ango and just a splash of seltzer water (optional). Then I stir in the whiskey with a some ice and an Amerena cherry (I used to use Luxardos, but I like the sweeter Amarenas a little more). Finally I pour it over one large ice cube express an orange slice over it and stick the orange peel and cherry on a pick for the garnish. Since it's impossible to muddle all the sugar into the drink, it will get sweeter as you get to the bottom, but you don't get that graininess this way; just a nice little kiss of sweetness at the end.
Sounds really good! Thanks for sharing your recipe. And if you like Amerena Cherries, I just found a huge 2lb jar of Fabbri Amarena at Costco for less than the 21 oz jar costs at most places. I won't run out any time soon.
@@speakeasyspirits Definitely! I’ve done it once, and it’s fantastic with the maple syrup. Garnish with bacon, and it’s a really fun drink and effortlessly beats a mimosa as a Sunday brunch drink.
Fwiw... The Walmart great value brand of cocktail cherries are quite good. Trader Joe's will " sometimes" in the fall have a really nice jar of Morello cherries in a decedent syrup. If you find them buy at least 2. In a pot belly stove shape jar.
Great video. My favorite cocktail and the one i make the most. I like new riffs on it and i will try these. You got a new subscriber in me.
Awesome! Thank you!
lol.. I like how real you are.. making a mess with your stirring and such... subscribed!

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing the inspiration!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad it was helpful!
Love those Fee Brothers Black Walnut bitters! Makes any whiskey top shelf.
I find myself using them more and more, great stuff.

Brilliant. I like your thinking. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Very interesting !
Glad you think so!
I’m rather fond of a bourbon old fashioned with cherry bitters and maple syrup. It’s a bit like drinking breakfast.
I'm planning a video where I infuse bacon flavor into some spirits. A maple bacon Old Fashioned maybe...?

Those are some great tips. You're right about the Great Value cherries, they are pretty good. I'll have to look for the Trader Joe's.
never thought of adding Orgeat....need to try that
I love swapping orgeat for simple syrup in a lot of recipes. It's a little change that can freshen up an old favorite.
