This may not be as spectacular as other immortals, but the sheer accuracy of both players until the final move under insane time pressure, no less, makes it qualify as one of Magnus's best games. This is classic Magnus. Play perfectly, squeeze a dead position, and then capitalize on one minor mistake. Jesus.
it's only one mistake if you look at the eval graph. practically speaking, as magnus himself explained, it was multiple inaccuracies on top of the overall pressure that was building. losing the pawn in the endgame is definitely a mistake, even if the engine says it isnt, cause apparently it's still drawable. So in conclusion I think this game is peak magnus, as good as it gets.
I went to the bar to ask my uncle if he knows that all Queen endings are drawn. I didn't get a clear answer because he had already partaken too much of the contents of the establishment.
As always, the strongest chess player in the World is Magnus who lost a game a day before. I always feel sorry for a player who needs to face Magnus in such condition.
Magnus is the only player who can lose, and then come the next day and defeat arguably equally strong player. Maybe 99.9%. or 99.99%. In Classical, of course.
@@alpha007org sometimes i think sometimes he takes game lightly on purpose ,so that when he losses 1-2 games continuously he can get the pressure and a reason to win rest of the games.he might loose 1-2 games but he still almost always won the tournaments and championships.
Yes, if magnus loses even a single match, the title reads 'he's washed', 'getting too old' etc. And if any other player, especially an Indian prodigy, wins against magnus, the title reads 'crushed', 'destroyed', 'bulldozed', 'murdered', 'killed', 'NUKED' etc! 😅😅😅
I am proud to say that I saw the only move that doesn't lose for Caruana in less than 30 seconds, although it helps when you put it like that and explain that 'there's only one move that doesn't lose for white'. Nice explanation of the game, Antonio, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your daughter!!! 🍰🥂🎈

Congrats Antonio on your daughter’s 3rd birthday yesterday. My daughter turned 34! Enjoy every moment, time flies by quickly, before you know it, she’ll be 30. I enjoy your channel, GOD Bless!!!
Fabiano being rated #2 in the world seems like he’s had disappointing games going back to the candidates where he struggles ending games that he was in better positions to win Strong play from Magnus Thanks for the Game Agadmator
Well, to get Magnus to care more about classical, players should talk major sh*t towards him. He just doesn't have the fire for classical anymore. But if you talk at him, that gets his attention.
Fabiano is a fantastic top player and I like him also for his italian origin, but in these endgames Magnus has even overcome the resolute will to win of the legendary Bobby Fischer ❤
I didn't liked how Fabi was begging Magnus for draw, even with white pieces. If Fabi wants to become world number 1, he should try to defeat the current number 1 whenever he gets the chance.
In the middle game, I thought white might put his queen on e2 and then take black's knight on f6 with his rook. That would be a good attack, but I am sure he did not try it as Magnus would know how to defend. Oh, well.
Another interesting piece of information is that Magnus said one of the reasons he didn't want to draw was because he won a very similar queen and pawn endgame against Fabi before
Hikaru's game wasn't very eventful, but very instructional how hard it is to convert even in totally winning position. Hard Grind, one mistake and a game is lost. When he shuffled that rooks, there were ~10 times when only 2-3 moves keeps the advantage. And mad man did it.
Nah Magnus ain't done. They'll be kissing his butt for years. Fabi is the one that should consider retiring and becoming a commentator. And I'm a Fabi fan. I love the guy and hate seeing him put himself in this kind of pain. He can't beat Magnus or Hikaru. He doesn't have that killer instinct. He has to play like he played on last games of candidates all the time and he doesn't. He plays safe.
so he beat magnus 6 times and you say he is done. these retirement calls needs to be called out. who are we to say when a player should retire in chess.
I apologize. I'm not anyone important. I'm not seriously suggesting Fabi retire. He can play as long as he wants. I'm saying as a fan of his that watches and roots for him every game, I'll be rooting for him today against Pragg, he has to somehow figure out his mental blockage. I don't want to go through all his games and losses. But Fabi consistently misses wins when under pressure and time pressure. He wants to be number 1. He wants to be champion but that won't happen if he can't consistently beat Magnus and Hikaru. Magnus said so on his interview after the match. He could tell he was nervous, and getting low on time. That's why he pressed. And Hikaru straight up played the same opening against him from candidates a month ago. The same opening Fabi called a one a done. To prove a point Hikaru used it again, and defeated Fabi again with it. Fabi has wants to win this tournament but it's not going to happen, he has to face Hikaru and Magnus again. Magnus being the last round. I hope I'm wrong. I pray that Fabi feels the fight in him like the last few games of 2024 candidates. I'm just stating my opinion is all. I'm team Cuarana

I dont get it either...after Ke1 there are no more checks. after that whatever white plays, Qd1 or Qf2 by black (depending on what white plays) should be sufficient...no?
Lots of "meek" moves by Fabi, going back real often and offering repetitions. This game is the perfect illustration why Magnus is Nr. 1 and Fabi Nr. 2!

Truly true 👌
Indeed, Magnus's ability to push push and push some more on a theoretically drawn position is incredible. His stamina is without equal.
Agree!❤
Immortal Chess is a 10x10 chess variant.

Magnus doesn't need to care anymore. But when he does, he's still the most dangerous human player on the planet.
Why the quotes in the title? Did someone jokingly say in relation to this game that Magnus is washed up?

At 11:43 if black Ke1, what will play white?
Exactly my question as well
11:34 But draw isn't forced after Qa2+? Black can play Qd2 instead of e2?

Fabi is technically great knows all the moves but when it comes down to end game when under the cosh he isn't on the same planet as magnus
