I don't think it's that simple. Yes, he only knew her a short while. But because they were both fairly powerful Newtypes, they shared a very intense bond psychically. It was as if they had a two way connection to each other's very souls. It's not the same way as if you or I just randomly met someone. For them, because of their connection, it is as if they knew each other their entire lives.
Char and Amuro have this bond as well

First heard this song on "Federation vs Zeon" for the PS2 and, it was on the mission where Char shows up in the Zeong. Soooo to me, this is literally "boss music".
I mean, when this track came up once Char & The Zeong appeared I was literally thinking "Why do I hear boss music?" long before it became a meme from Sea of Thieves.
BRO Fucken' same! For the past week I was thinking of that game and how White Base is stationed and you fight the gelgoogs.
I never fully watched Gundam, I only know bits and pieces because of Federation vs Zeon or Zeonic Front.
Recently I rekindled my love and admiration with Gundam by building the model kits and watching the Animes, but I want the English Dub for 0079 because to me Zeon vs Federation/Zeonic Front is the original Amuro/Char voice for me.

@@pcelis19 Nice~ I'm in the process of downloading episodes of each Gundam series, which is pretty much the equivalent of recording the episode when it airs on television nowadays. I'm trying to collect both the dubs & subs in the case of Gundam. I'm with you, those English voices ARE the voices of Amuro & Char to us.
to me it was sd gundam ds. it plays alot in that game. a little bit of topic but, man, sd ds is by far my favorite in the franchise, it mashed so many aus and uc events together, and the monoeye gundams were so good!

I think I was Japanese in my padt life, because I always cried listening to this song even though I didn't know the lyrics. Now I see what I felt was what I read.
The closing line (which is repeated through out the song) is actually wrong. In Japanese, the lyrics say 'dare mo hitori de wa ikirarenai.' In a literal translation accounting for word placement, those words would mean 'anyone by one's self cannot live/be living.' So in plain English, that would simply mean 'No one can live alone.' It's up to lyricist to extract a more flourishing translation of those words, but 'one more person who now lives with love' isn't accurate especially when love isn't even mentioned in the line.
There is a lot of mistakes in this translation.
Though their bond isn't as strong. Partially because Char isn't that powerful of a newtype. But also because even though they have a channel into each other's heart, that doesn't stop them from cognitively hating each other due to past circumstances. That said, they understand each other better than anyone else.
Being a Newtype allows people to better understand one another, but that also means they suffer more from that understanding.

Amuro's feelings towards Lalah were more to do with their newtype link, and the ability to instantly understand eachother's feelings.
in the end, Lalah chose Amuro, but could not betray Char.
In the end, Char became hell bent on revenge against Amuro. Right 'till the end in Char's Counterattack.
they did have a good moment in zeta and would think they form a good friendship then Char kid Kamile die and char well time to burn the world.

Amuro didn't truly get over her death, he just coped with it better.
Actually, Char did actually cope with Lala's death pretty well, he went off in the deep end when Kamille became a vegetable at the end of Zeta.
@@kelnhide Both wrong and correct. He initally coped with it well and then went into relapse, further driven to madness by what happened to Kamille. Lalah started haunting both his and Amuro's dreams more often before the events of CCA.

First heard this song after playing federation vs zeon and mistakenly thinking it was a gundam wing game. For some reason I completely forgot what this song sounded like. I used to think soldiers of sorrow was better but now I like this song much more

I like how this song played in the original Japanese TV Version during Amuro and Char's final battle.
0080 was technicly still during the one year war, since it takes place in the original novel timeline and not the anime timeline, so in that 0080 the one year was had still yet to come to an end
i did enjoy 0080, even though it was SERIOUSLY lacking in the action department, but the action scenes that were there were so good and well done that it really makes up for it

@mtncal To my knowledge, the Psychoframe wasn't developed until the 0090s. Original Gundam didn't have any Newtype-sensitive equipment at all, I'm pretty sure. What you're thinking of is the Psycommu (Psychic Communicator), which is what allows for a pilot's Newtype brainwaves to communicate with receptors in whatever they're using. Even then, it was hardly the cornerstone. Only a choice amount of units even had it, since Newtype's weren't exactly the majority of the populace.

So........ the end of the One Year War and Mobile Suit Gundam is effectively illustrated by this song.
P.S: How many of you guys think Sayla and Amuro should of had a relationship after the original series?
honestly there was no real connection between them, they were both good friends, and they clearly cared about each other very much. but to say there was a romance between them is a stretch. The whole of the Crew of White base had that connection, they went through hells most people would wake up in cold sweats just thinking about. but that's the whole point. This whole show was a story that shows this quote is true, "war brings out the worst in humanity. But it also brings out the best in a handful of exceptional people"
I can agree on the first point. It ultimately brought a culmination to a notable emotional EXHAUSTION by the end of the first series, giving something ultimately satisfying but also something that sticks with you.
And while I like to ship Amuro and Sayla together they honestly do not have the chemistry for it. Though I kinda chuckle to myself at the implication that Fraw Kobyashi (nee Bow) is actually sorta more connected to Amuro than just friends (mainly implications and Hayato being honestly just...not there for his wife and kid and being kind of a dipshit...)
For a the overall soundtrack of Gundam this was breathtaking because of the vocals, when they didn't have that in others.

Well, I guess technically Char was a pilot during the first few months of the war where Zeon used colony drop tactics. Char probably didn't personally escort any colony drops through the atmosphere, but he was likely one of the guys destroying Feddie battleships protecting the colonies Zeon wanted to drop.

@SchizoFilms and i love the technical aspect of it too, they show so much of the internal workings of mobile suits, even little things like how it shows that weapons actually plug into the gundams hand, which powers it, and i love how careful they are not to hit the reactors, oh and my number one favorite scene from any gundam series ever, shiro has that flashback where it shows side 2 being attacked by zeon, and its all peaceful, then a zaku 1 blows a hole in the colony, and fires nerve gas in
And then 0083 happens and you realize Cima was piloting that Zaku I...

@wikikomoto I'll agree with you there. The love story kinda cheapened it, but it was crucial to Shiro questioning the war, and bringing the psychological conflict into it.
The combat scenes were all very well-thought out, and I particularly liked seeing how even Gundams aren't invincible, and can even be all but destroyed by their own power. (Overheated the reactor and what have you in Unit 1)
And, I think we all want to live, marry Aina, and grow old... TOGETHER!
Reminds me of watching the dub of Encounters In Space on VHS when I was a kid. Really is a shame you can't get it on DVD or Blu Ray or anything, I ended up having to track down the box set of the tapes to watch it again.

@jasonprime7 There are chages to the story but, for the most part, they make the story more fluid. Like, changing White base's route to a more plotted out trek through the western USA and the western coast of Latin America. Odessa occurs after the battle of Jaburo, and several othe minor changes were made. However, the story remains the same: Amuro accidentally starts piloting the new feddie prototype an gets drafted into the royal clusterfuck that is the One Year war.
@Hinato29 A total remaster/reboot of 0079, 0080, 0083, and then Zeta all the way through would be awesome.
@GundamSaviour because MS igloo is the one year war at its core, the first series showed zeon rise to glory only to fall, and the second showed the feddies at their weakest, only to finally turn the tide of war with their GMs, not to mention, watching 2 battalions of tanks try to take out 3 zakus is just freaking awesome to watch
If I were Amuro, I wouldn't be so kind and too attached towards a woman whom I just met for like few minutes. I understand that Amuro cared about Lalah, but he should've just shrugged it out and not care about her for like a day. Heck I wouldn't even dare to love a girl who's still falls in love with my greatest rival that brought down an asteroid onto earth.
I still have my copy on PS2.
The Battle series on the PSP are much better, but that game was a classic.
At the time it was the only Gundam game released in the UK. Now we have the Dynesty Warriors series. Yay............
For as much as I didn't like 0079, hooooly shit this song is the best, really elevates the last movie. The music in the whole series was really great actually.

@DORKYBA55ATTACK 0083 is fine da way it is. So is 0080. 0079 and Zeta series needs the remastering/reboot and i cannot wait for it to come out!. I will be dowqnloading all the episodes and news for everyone who doesn't know prepare for the release of Gundam Unicorn OVA 4 in December(my fav month of the year)
@SchizoFilms 08th ms team was good, it had its faults, the love story kinda took over and ruined it, but i love the gundam ground types and it has some of the most well thought out combat scenes
and no matter how much you hate most of the series, the final battle with the gouf is AWESOME
but yes, i do like the 08th ms team, it expands on the one year war quite nicely

Really, that had to have been like my favorite part of the series. Tactics. It's not about some Newtype badass kicking Zeon ass. It's about 5 soldiers doing their best to survive the onslaught.
And, I absolutely loved how Gundams were trashed by little things.
the first series started it all in 1979, and unless you lived or were born around that time you really dont have any room to talk at all considering the fact that it was made before you were even born and you have no right to judge the new series based on the "golden days" of the first series that you didnt even live in the same era as.
@TheGarfuncle - Oh I know the psychic level, but he should have just dropped that as well, since in Zeta and Char's movie, there was no changing Lalah's mind away from Char. His attempts to convinced her failed pretty much, yet he still got attached to her. Meaning she is the TRAP of all the crap he has to think. (pardon me)
