Edited: Ok I think I figured it out, for some reasons mine doesn't work if I follow your tutorial step by step, I swapped the TX and RX pin on the LD2410C sensor (opposite to yours), and keep the same yaml config and it works. But if I re-edit the yaml to match with new swap RX and TX pins, it stops working again. I'm new to this so for now i'll keep it as how it works. ESPHome documentation for the sensor LD2410 gives something different from the YAML mentioned in your video. I tried to use yours but failed, it seems to me that since they made this change in documentation the "old" YAML doesn't work with this sensor. What do you think? Thank you.

Hello! Thanks for the educational video. A question for you, dear author. Is it possible to configure the motion sensor in EspHome (ESP32, ESP32-C3) so that data is transmitted to the HomeAssistante server not via WiFi but via Bluetooth.

I have been using the LD2410 for 2 months for a smart toilet in connection with a dimmer switch. Contactless switching on of the lights and adjusting the brightness according to the rising and setting of the sun. The distance parameter of the LD2410 is not reliable because it resets a long time after leaving the detection zone. I have the Motion energy parameter set to 40 to prevent false activations. The shutdown time is 15 seconds. A shorter time may cause the lights to turn off undesired.

@@SimplySmartHouse I've tried different boards. A ESP8266 Downloader, a D1 mini and a bare module, where the UART chip is on a backpack board, I can remove after the firmware is flashed ( so there is nothing else connected to RX/TX ).
I have double checked that RX->TX and TX-RX is connected as they should.
With it being a bare board, my configuration includes:
      esp8266:
      board: esp8285

      stop_bits: 1
      ld2410:
      uart_id: ld2410_uart
I also tried to change the board to "esp12e".
Oddly, when I open the log over WiFi of the device, I do see the distance measurements being reported.
But the HA card still show the sensors state to be "Unavailable".

Got it, what sensor are you using?
You can try adding the code straight from the esphome website:
      esphome.io/components/sensor/ld2410.html
I will double check my code later.

hiya, thanks for the video but just wondering if anyone has had any issue with the latest ESPhome update. it doesn't seems to be updating and kept getting errors on everything under ld2410.
    ld2410: [source /config/esphome/esp32multisensors2.yaml:63]
    -
The 'timeout' option has been moved to the 'timeout' number component.
    timeout: 10s

The 'max_move_distance' option has been moved to the 'max_move_distance' number component.
    max_move_distance: 6m

The 'max_still_distance' option has been moved to the 'max_still_distance' number component.
    max_still_distance: 6m
    etc...

Since the latest ESPHome update the ld2410 had breaking changes, I did add the correct YAML to the blog post, and I’m working on updating the video as well.

@@SimplySmartHouse yeah thanks. I saw that, I'm a bit confused with it. I also saw this on the esphome site. What I'm confusing about is the fact that it doesn't have the distance set anymore on the new syntax. So how will it know the sensitivity if we don't set them?

    • @SimplySmartHouse
      @SimplySmartHouse  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

You can set the sensitivity dynamically through the integration. There's no need to upload new ESPHome code to adjust it. There's been a lot of confusion about this in the community, and I'll try to clarify it as soon as I can.

Thanks, i have no clue about your error,
My only advice is to try it again from scratch, but i'm sure you already did :/

I am using Teyleten Robot D1 Mini ESP32 ESP-WROOM-32 WLAN WiFi+Bluetooth and connected it to RX and TX + power. Configured the TX/RX pins accordingly, but got a compile error.
xtensa-esp32-elf-g++: fatal error: Killed signal terminated program cc1plus
    compilation terminated.
    *** [/data/esp32-bluetooth-proxy-385e3c/.pioenvs/esp32-bluetooth-proxy-385e3c/src/esphome/components/api/api_connection.o] Error 1
Is this because I installed the esphome with bluetooth proxy? '
trying to move away from the bluetooth connection(NOT stable even when drawing power from the esp itself...).

I would try to install it again from scratch, it might have to do with your Bluetooth proxy installation.

Hi! I have a problem when trying to do the installation via Wi-Fi. It compiles without any issue, but when trying to do it via WiFi, it never connects. It keeps asking if it's connected to WiFi, etc. However, it was connected before, and it showed as online. I have tried setting a fixed IP, opening ports in my router, and setting a fixed IP in the router as well, but it never works. Can someone help me with this? With Bluetooth, I have no problems with the Bluetooth proxy; it doesn't give me any issues. The thing is, I have other boards that are Wi-Fi-only, and they don't work either. I don't see any proxy restrictions in my macOS network. Thanks.
    I'm getting this message:
    INFO Successfully compiled program.
INFO Resolving IP address of presence-despacho.local
ERROR Error resolving IP address of presence-despacho.local. Is it connected to WiFi?
ERROR (If this error persists, please set a static IP address: esphome.io/components/wifi.html#manual-ips)
ERROR Error resolving IP address: Error resolving address with mDNS: Did not respond. Maybe the device is offline., [Errno -5] No address associated with hostname.
From there, it goes offline, and it doesn't show as connected in the router. Thanks.

Hi, did you happen to change the name of your ESP device? @02:17
If so maybe try changing the hostname as shown at @02:29
Let me know if that helps.

@@SimplySmartHouse Hi! Thank you for responding. Indeed, I had already done everything you told me. I watched your video step by step, and it's well explained. In fact, I followed the video, but I don't know why my WiFi is giving me problems. I changed the name exactly as you did and was connected to WiFi with its IP on the router, but in the last step, it fails and disconnects, no longer appearing in the router.

Not sure how to help, I hope you could find a solution, maybe in the Home Assistant Community forum?
