I want a ultra 2 J soo bad! I love how Cici digs deep in listening for the little tones that can easily be overlooked due to playing a new bass and just being excited to play a beautiful new bass,
Fender had an elite series bass in the 80s that had a bridge, with fine tuners built in, I've never seen a bass, before or after, with anything like this. That was indeed the most modern bass and it's over 40 years old.
Thanks for another great AAtB. It's good to hear the bass in a band context in the jams, as well as the "tone exploring" segments. More of that plz and thank you. Also you lot always brighten up a grey, cold Cambridge day. More power to your elbows/fingers/bass adjacent parts.
Stop bickering kiddies. Some people like them, obviously some don't. But if some do, Fender is missing out on possibly more income. If you don't like them, fine, why cause a stink?
Really appreciate you guys standing 10 ( or maybe 20?) toes down on the dual bass setups. Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey did it way back, Omnific also more recently. Good stuff 👌👍.
The Ultra II line reminds me of the discontinued Gibson High Performance line - every option any player could reasonably need, and if you don't like them, don't use them! The one thing I don't like is the limit for the knobs. There's a center detent like Taylor uses for a few knobs that's really useful - like the one for the pickup selector that shows when you're right in the middle of using both pickups. What I don't like is, at the extremities, the knob can feel like you're on the center detent, but it'll keep turning! I was able to try several in store and found both the P Bass and the Jazz do it (not a single oddball bass I just happened to pick up). That gives me long term concerns for eventually turning too far or too much. Just like a standard Gibson knob, there needs to be a definite limit to the rotation.
Great video & the Blue Ultra II P bass is my dream bass but the price will keep it out of my hands lol. Will we be seeing Nathan again at some point? Miss that guy
Great job Lee for hiring Ollie, funny, knowledgable and a good guitarist. As for the Ultra II, I think they lost something when dropping the tone inlays and tone binding.
Would be curious if anyone has thoughts on which of these is more versatile as a single "all-arounder". Is it easier for the P-bass to approximate the J-bass (or vice versa?) with the pickup options? The examples here are nice...just wondering about real world use cases.
Neat, but still not enough to lure me away from Ibanez. Maybe someday Fender, but not today. Good color on that blue one though. Shame it's half hidden under ugly pickguard and control bezel, not to mention the plain and antiquated Fender headstock. Even a simple gloss black face on that would be an improvement. Fender always sounds great, but they've yet to discover good looks.
It depends on the make and model. I agree some active basses do sound hollow and a bit sterile, but nothing like a good amp to dial it in to sound better. It really is subjective.

I wish they had fine tuner bridges like cellos and stuff
Oh man Lee ,that 3 color burst with the gold guard is killing me , sounds great too ,"need" ! !

Give that man a ride cymbal.
I've never caught a video this early. Love bass content. Happy Saturday from the US
I totally agree with Cici. Guitars need a setup before playing, Good job Cici.
Those new Meteoras are bloody beautiful.
Great playing from Lee at the start!
Thanks guys, great demo & explanations !
Great demo!
Love Cici giving it the full treatment tone-wise. Nicely done.
Only skimmed through the video but I think the new? presenter here was really good!
Hell yes, I bought the avalanche V jazz the minute I could from you guys. It's a fantastic bass and instantly became my main ❤
Great demo guys…. The guitars are really nice and plenty of options to suit lots of different styles 🎸
love these 3, they should work together more 🙂
Fantastic demo! 👍
very nice and well done demo. More like this.
Standout playing from Cici. I'd like to hear the amps in the room a bit more on these videos.
very nice opening jam.
Would it kill Fender to do matching headstocks on a series called Ultra?
yes it will kill them
@kevinp198x no they're the preferred option for the majority of players.
But it costs way more money to mass produce.
they have that on contemporary series of Fender Japan
@kevinp198x If you're that much out of the loop, no source will convince you. Plus, links don't work in youtube comments.

Cici 🙌
Loving the jam!!

Anything featuring Cici automatically gets a thumbs up from me.

I prefer the Nathan of old. I miss the banter and chemistry between Nathan and Lee
Ollie needs to be the face of this channel too fkn good 😭🫶
Ah the old double bass a guys loved the vid.
thanks
Cici in the thumbnail? Instant click.
That jazz bass' tone made ME make bass face, and it's not even my fingers molesting the strings.
Do they make a five string like that blue one?
I wish fender would make a fretless version of that bass both the jazz and precision bass
We need a longscale Squier Meteora bass in silver burst.
It's cool that Bass gear nerds are as crazy as guitar gear nerds!! lol
I love dudes hair it's majestic
Are they shielded properly? have had issues with fender basses in recent past

It would be nice to have the levels adjusted. It’s difficult to evaluate the eq when it’s distorted. And the p bass signal is so weak it sounds empty.
Forgot to mention they have lumenlay inlays on the side of the neck
So Fender made...a Sire....that's nice :)
That was exactly my 1st thought!
I'd say the ultra 1 sounds better
This new guy is funny! Tesla battery pack he said 😂😂😂
Cooooool!!
Am I alone in thinking CICi is adorable? I have an ultra II. ITS OK. CICI is sooo flipping cute
What was the guitar??
Cici 😍
why'd they start making the fender logos blend into the headstock wood? are the ashamed of their own brand or something?
18 VOLovanTS in the marquee
How dare the Captain!
The previous ultra was much better. Get those as they are in clearance now.
The blue beast sounds just nasty, bit not in a good way. Maybe the amp she's through?

Color me old and cranky; I much preferred the Standard/Deluxe designations.
I'm glad that with all the modern appointments they didn't forget to include the classic Fender dead spot in their £2k offering
Thought Olly was Rabea with a load of gel in his hair for a minute...
I think gel would evaporate into a cloud of mist if it touched Rabea's hair.
And why do we want a coherent, articulate presenter intervening on the bass vids?
Rechargeable batteries via usb connection is the way to go 👍
@robstacy yep, my phone charger plugs into my Warwick. Easy and convenient.
@@DruEllzYes, I bought a rechargeable battery kit for the fishman pickups on my Cort Bass.
I didn't know that Rabea's cousin worked at Andertons.
Lee needs to go
Poor Lee got shouldered out of the thumbnails. Wonder why. 😒
Just one and only question (relevant obviously...): is this real hair Mr middle man ?
Would it kill Fender to do cool inlays? Dots are so boring. C'mon
No block inlays? No, thank you.
Not for nothing but, the P-bass sounds like ass. TOO much high end. I'll stick with my Ultra I. It has a much nicer throaty growl.
The girl doesn’t know how to slap. She isn’t hitting the right spot.
Too many people on the set!
EU Blue schrecklich.
Cici keep your hair braided like that!!!
Handle bars😂😂😂
@@peterjanjanin9883classy.
@@peterjanjanin9883 what do you mean?
@sebg2086 He means he's spent too long on the internet and is unaware of what is appropriate and inappropriate.
Well said.
These basses are not good
No Block inlays , it’s a bit of a let down to me , not that I plan on buying one. Happy Saturday from the Great RED STATE OF TEXAS!
The Ultra II is a downgrade from the Ultra I by far.
Active basses are weird. They have a whole variety of sounds, and not a single one sounds good. Another solution searching for a problem.
not a single one sounds good................HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH wow
It depends on the make and model. I agree some active basses do sound hollow and a bit sterile, but nothing like a good amp to dial it in to sound better. It really is subjective.
CLOWN take. I love a good passive bass but come on 😂
Did Cici end up with the noball blue bass because she's female?
