    I'm buying a new 2023. The DCT fucking ROCKS Man! So much fun accelerating and the thing handles really well with the weight being so low. I love the storage and the brakes are Awesome! This is one seriously underrated motorcycle. I have a 1200 Sportster but I'm buying this to commute and do some touring on👍

    I haven't seen a good review of an NC yet... Have 20k on my 2020 DCT and it is hardly the boring bike always depicted in these reviews. In sport mode it walks away from any other bike aside from crotch rockets looking to race. I've embarrassed many Harley riders with Screaming Eagle mods. I wish these "pros" would take their job seriously.

      Yeah this bike gets so much online hate from people who don’t understand it and have never ridden one. Par for the course. Fine by me bc it keeps prices down and you don’t often see them. But it’s a very popular choice in the rest of the world.

  • @mindspinn311

    The only people who get this bike are those who own one and those who want to own one. The NC is as underrated or unappreciated as a bike can be, and it’s widely misunderstood, especially in the US market. It’s a worldwide best-seller for a reason. The NC has its own charm and it grows on you. You don’t have to like it, but maybe show it a little respect.

    So many well thought out things on this bike. I missed whether it was ride by wire, though, because if it is, then there is absolutely no excuse for no cruise control! With all the storage, it's perfect for those extended weekends a couple hundred miles from home.

    • @mindspinn311
      @mindspinn311 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes it’s RBW but Honda’s market research and talking to owners determined that they don’t use cruise control. It’s a commuter not a tourer. Still, it could have been easily added using the same right hand control pod as the Rebel 1100 (the left is already identical). But Honda has their bean counters like everyone else.

    • @Dowent
      @Dowent 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honda loves to not include the cruise control. There are RBW Africas w/o a cruise control, it's just an arbitrary anti-feature. I can't think of a bike where I wouldn't find use for a cruise control, I would even use it on my enduro, if it had it.

    • @rickkrough6167
      @rickkrough6167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 2014 NC700 DCT. The most common complaints are the lack of dual disc brakes and cruise control. But as he points out in the last minutes of the video, that ultimately adds to the price of the bike. I tour on mine and frankly after putting on a $10 Cramp Buster I’m fine with out the cruise. I have no discomfort with riding for 6 to 7 hours straight using the Cramp Buster. The seat to peg distance he mentions is a problem for tall riders. I am 6’2” with a 34” inseam and it was pretty uncomfortable after an hour of riding. Then I replaced pegs with a aftermarket peg that drops it 40mm and that made all the difference in the world.

    Not a fan of its looks but I am very interested in the DCT and the ‘trunk’ where the fuel tank normally goes. I think it would make a great commuter especially in areas where lane filtering is not legal so you’re stuck in traffic a lot and automatic would make sense. I wish that Honda would put a DCT in the sports bikes too with smooth inline fours. I know they got quick shifters but automatic would be sweet too. Aren’t all supercars these days automatic as well?!

    I have a 2021 version with the Honda optional 'touring' screen. I have a deflector fitted and it's perfect. There is a Honda recall for a snatchy fly by wire throttle, it works. The panniers are $750 trade price, ok in the market comparable to other manufacturers. I have fitted lowered footrests as I found the riding position a little cramped together with an air seat, now perfect (I'm only 5'10") The DCT is much better than my 2016 Crosstourer.

    I own an Aprilia Mana 850 and tbh never understood why being an overall better motorcycle than the Honda - more HP, better brakes, better forks, better design (eg the helmet space opens towards the driver, which is way more practical in tolls, etc) - it was a nevertheless a failure for Aprilia and Honda was the one that ultimately profited from the idea. Probably was too expensive atm and due to Aprilia's poor servicing network in the US. I use my Mana mostly on manual mode and shift gears with the buttons and it's the best thing ever, absolutely smooth and flawless. Once you get used to the sequential electronic shift, the pedal feels agricultural, no way back for me. Anyway, the new Honda NT1100 could be an upgrade, but it only provides around 20 more HP than my Aprilia and no helmet space, which is truly practical. I wish they had gone for 120HP to have a real upgrade path without losing the DCT.

    I don't get the capability argument at all. Yes I like it, takes the rider one more step away from the noise and hassles of shifting, but I don't see any extra capability besides the faux-tank trunk storage, which is a lot by itself, but besides that, it's only a way to get from point A to B which any motorcycle is capable of. I do think it is going to have longer reliability due to the low revving, essentially half a 4 cylinder Honda car engine, and is what the future of ICE motorcycles is going to be, but ultimately it is not especially capable, just a quieter, more sedate cruiser/standard hybrid that you don't have to shift.
    The funny thing is that I think Honda went in the wrong direction, by only increasing engine displacement when I feel there would be more interest in a lighter chassis, 400cc-500cc version for those who just do shorter commutes, aren't looking to take it on long road trips. Get it down under 400lbs and maybe up the fuel economy closer to 70MPG, and of course, a lower retail price which is very critical for beginner riders. I see a 500cc version of this, ideal for new riders, except that they still need to learn to clutch/shift if they hope to move on later.
    Despite what I wrote above, I very much see the NC750X as a top coice, competent everyday commuter for people who live in utopia where it never rains or snows, and don't want the extra burden of shifting but do want the reliability of a low revving Honda engine.

      @@mindspinn311 You know what this will lead to? Just like the cars from the good ole days where most of them were manual. People got lazy when the automatic came out for the cars, and now look at today. There's only small amount of manual in cars now. The new BMW Supra is auto, the GTR is auto, and I think most of these exotics are freaking auto with paddle shifters that is so freaking boring. I just hate to see motorcycles go this route. Scooters one thing, but making a motorcycle into an auto is where it will begin in decline of manuals. That's what I feel.

    • @mindspinn311
      @mindspinn311 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ilive4d80s6 Virtually impossible. The automatic motorcycle was once before a failure, by Honda, and is only made viable again by their patented technology. No other two wheel manufacturer had an interest. Automatics will only get so many people riding. Most of those kind of people are terrified of motorcycles. It will be a niche technology until electric eventually replaces internal combustion.

      @@filobetobaby Manly?! You go by looks? You know what I ride. I ride a little 300cc bike which right now I could only afford, but I still enjoy the ride. I don't care what people says about me riding a 300cc bike being that I am 350 lb man. I only ride for the enjoyment. I only ride for the ride and part of that is experiencing all that a bike can be when you have total control shifting gears manually is the way to go, and it's fun for me. I'm glad you have it your way in an automatic bike but this trend is going to destroy the manual just like it did with cars. Just like all the sports car from the BMW supra, Nissan GTR, and all of lamb's going toward auto/eshifters. It just got boring! Automatics are made for work, and boring transportation. I ride a little 150 scooter everyday for work oh, and most of the time if I don't be a adventurous on it I would fall asleep on the Wheel. Automatic is only good for that and nothing more. Shifting gears manually with a clutch is pure fun. Most people that get automatic are freaking lazy. Yesterday I put in a new clutch lever on my little bike. I swear the controls gotten so smooth. I bought that bike used from a private owner oh, and he said that he dropped it once but it was on a standstill. It wasn't that bad the fairings on the side cracked a little bit. The clutch broke on the tip oh, but it still works. Ever since I bought it last year like it is and wrote it with the broken lever clutch I just got used to it but when I replaced it to yesterday man it Shore Drive smooth. I want to go riding more today but I got to work and after work my wife want to go to the casinos if I meet my goal. I'm not really shooting for it because I am so slower Tire today. She might not care and just take me to the casinos and we could eat buffet. I thought I was going to work in the morning but I just I'm so tired I'm just going to do the afternoon shift. I need to take a day off so I could ride somewhere. I want to take that route going towards Hattiesburg I know it's a two-hour Drive I just can't do that I'm just going to do part of it just see the sites. I don't mind driving to Hattiesburg if I had enough money to eat out there. The only reason why I want to go to Hattiesburg route it's because when I used to work for a medical company I used to drive there a lot toward hospitals and what not to deliver medical equipment. Now that I'm out of that field I just want to drive around there little towns and just see the sights. I don't know if I could ride couple hours I think my Max stamina on a bike right now since I'm almost 400 lb it's like 45 minutes 2 an hour. Today's it said on the Weather Channel it should get a little warmer. I don't know if I should wear a jacket when I'm on my little scooter I'm usually hot. I also got some new motorcycle gloves from motorcycle shop that was really nice I got the extra large because I thought I could put those slip-ons when it gets really cold. But it looks up the gloves I didn't have to put the slip on since it was really leathery and thick except the cold out so I had to return it to get a better size and the shop really accommodated me that was freaking awesome!

    It is a motorcycle not a moped. Give me manly gears any day!
