I can comfirm, as someone who bought this glorious boy when he was new, Jetfire's knees could never hold him up to save his life. Still, oddly enough never minded as I thought it added to the whole "robot granpa" vibe he has going on.
I got mine for Christmas back when he came out. And I can confirm he had those knee issues out of pakage.
This thing was flawed, enormously complex, but hell it was awesome. I sold it a while back. Kinda miss it. ROTF gave us some of the most interesting TF thus so far.

It's fascinating how far we got, from this chunky guy to the studio series, tranformations have similarities. I got Studio series Jetfire a few years ago, looks great
Had only just yesterday put my ROTF Jetfire into storage, now Studio Series Jetfire is in his place on the shelf. A noticeable size difference between the 2, with SS Jetfire being slightly smaller, but having better kibble management and not having issues standing without his stick.
God the nostalgia I get when I look at this toy. I got him for my fifth birthday alongside a Bumblebee arm cannon.
Now combine it with ROTF leader Optimus, and that’s gonna make an epic combo
I've always preferred the studio series one and I've also never really liked this Jetfire but studio series Jetfire is WAY TO EXPENSIVE NOW like I can barely find a used one for a decent price let alone a sealed one
My ROTF Jetfire had the same floppy knees right out of the box. Always had to find clever ways to make him stand.
Looks great combined with my hunt for the Decepticons leader prime!

He makes for a pretty great combo, shame about not having the best optimus movie mold. The studio series combo has awful leg nodules.
I've had one since 09 and the knee ratchets have always been that weak.
Since you're going on a Leader collecting journey, I'm really looking forward to you getting the ROTF Optimus. That is imo the greatest movie leader of all time. He's also my substitute mpm optimus prime.

One of the few TF figures I have displayed in alt mode. His wings have become loose and droopy (I got mine when he first released) but the presence is overwhelming!
Found this guy a while ago at a goodwill without his cane, gun, and missing quite a bit of panels for his plane mode. I also thought his knees were weaker because of where I got him from but turns out it wasn't. But man it still commands attention with just how tall and chunky he is.

My brother got this figure and I got leader Optimus the Christmas of 2009 and even back in the day we both hated how much of a chore it was to play with this toy. You've already noticed how much the knees and those shoulder pads suck, now try to imagine how fiddley it is to combine this figure with the leader Prime. However nowadays both my brother and I still love this figure and the leader Prime because the challenge was what made it fun and memorable.

I bought the Studio Series Jetfire NIB not long ago on ebay for around $100. I am very happy with it. 14 inches end to end. It is interesting to see in this video what is the same and what is different. Jet mode looks almost exactly the same.

the main thing I remember about this guy was how the sides of the fuselage felt like they would cut me
I got this for Christmas when I was about 10 years old (maybe younger).
He was too complicated for me to transform. When I got a bit older I was able to transform him but I lost a few of the parts over the years.
I have a model of an SR71 Blackbird from maybe 20ish years ago, and its the same exact size as Jetfires alt mode.
I bought a customised version, and it’s AWESOME. And yeah, he couldn’t stand to save the universe.
I didn't even get this one back on 09 due to the bad proportions and kibble, and I was super hype for everything rotf back then.
I got a used, but completely intact and mostly tight Mixmaster figure for like 16 bucks, that’s a steal man.

I remember it too, it was really cool.
I've only ever have the Movie the best version of this, and I don't know if it's only my copy of the figure, but that version fixed the weak knee joints, overall joints, and had the more accurate paint job.

I've had this figure since it came out and I don't have the knee issue. I have a problem with keeping his wings up when he's in robot mode. The joints on those are not good either.
Have you looked at Mastermind Creations Assultis? Or their version of swindle. I just like that character, he’s always been my favorite, and I think you might like him

I might get this one someday. I already have the Optimus from this line.

Honestly, he used to be a god to me, him with Optimus prime in DOTM 2pack and they are still now.
Nowadays, there are more and more modern toys like studio series, LS15. They look better, they feel better, they pose better.
But years ago, when I was a boy, I must say these are characters walking out of the screen. They are the real Jetfire, the real Optimus I've seen in the movie. And that's enough for me. I love and remember the feeling of playing with them.
Toys are getting better now, but these always have a place in my heart and my showcase of course.

If you got this for 12 quid I need to see if I can find Optimus Prime. I HAVE this figure, but was never able to get Prime, and was only ever able to combine it when my friend who had him came over to my house. If I had prime I'd display them combined 24/7.

My copy has very strong ratchets in the knees, dunno what's going on with yours. Might be worth taking a look at the internals.
No, it’s very common. You got lucky. Mine was sealed and it had the same problem.
The Studio Series version doesn't have Electronics so it's not worth it as far as I'm concerned. Especially since I have that one.

No the knees just suck. I have this and its only really good for the jetpower prime IMO. Its a decent figure but the transformation feels like summoning a demon and I always had to use the walking stick like a tripod. Overall, decent figure but I wouldn't recommend it. The panels also pop off on mine. Normally I just leave it until I need it.
