I still have fond memories as a 6 year old, opening and playing with this figure for back in 2011, it immediately became my 2nd favorite leader class, first one being rotf leader prime

Most of my collection over the years has been deluxe class, but in recent years I've become a huge fan of how solid and chunky voyagers are, especially pre-Age of Extinction. I still love the modern stuff, but something about the amount of plastic you get in something like Generations Springer, DotM Skyhammer or RtS Lugnut. Solid chunky toys that feel great to handle.

I had this figure as a kid, and I couldn't properly transform it for years. Definitely the hardest figure from the movie line. I kinda miss transformations that complex on official figures.
Sidenote: the hip joints on my Sentinel were REALLY loose (as in he couldn't stand up whatsoever without the joints giving out). good to see it was just my copy

Leader class is great, I remember my mum bought me the Armada Optimus cab from a charity shop when I was younger, I think that was technically my first ever leader. The first brand new leader I bought was the AoE Optimus which I got on sale. I bought a bunch of TR leaders on sale too haha, had so much fun with them!
But now, leaders generally don't go on sale so I don't buy many.
I would say that voyagers are perhaps my favourite scale, good sizes and engineering and we get most of the main characters there. Only thing is that they are close to costing as much as leaders once costed.
I really like deluxe figures too, we can get main characters there too, the WfC figures from 2010 were incredible, especially Optimus. Even now, deluxes are still so cool.
Used to LOVE legends scale figures, that's what I started off with, as they were cheap and cheerful. 3p legends are incredible but so expensive.

    • @Sbungo61
      @Sbungo61 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I mean, they're as expensive as they should be dude, did you expect them to be the same price of a mainline legends figure?

  • @baruscream7279

I remember when my mom bought me Sentinel Prime for Christmas; it reminded me of what I felt when I transformed ROTF Optimus Prime for the first time. Yeah, he has his problems, but the fact that there is no fake chest, the wheels end up where they are supposed to be and that the transformation in general is so intricate yet fun makes him an amazing toy in my opinion.
Most of my all-time favorites are definitely voyager class figures. I think they've always reached that sweet spot between good robot modes, good vehicle modes and complex transformations. Nowadays, a voyager class figure is pretty much a mini-Masterpiece, so there is that. Also, I guess I am a bit biased about this because my first figure was ROTF voyager class Starscream.

I really like a lot of new leader figures, but there’s something special about old leader figures. Part of why I really like MPM Megatron is that he feels like an old leader class toy. He’s big, chunky, and has nice and loud ratchet joints.

Greetings. Great to see Leader Class Sentinel Prime being reviewed on TH-cam again. I bought this at my local discount store in California way back in late 2012 after searching for him for about a year. His robot mode's tall and imposing and his vehicle mode sleek and boxy. Transforming him was a nightmare because of his side panels and small parts, though. Speaking of small parts, shame that my figure's side view mirror broke off at some point. I've never managed to successfully glue that mirror back since. Nevertheless, this figure was a good use of $25 and some change.
Regarding Leader Class Transformers figures overall, I also noticed that they weren't the same anymore. They stopped including electronic lights and sounds after the Dark of the Moon line and they've shrunk in size ever since. The last Leader Class figure that I bought was Studio Series Age of Extinction Grimlock in late 2018. I've considered that Grimlock to be acceptable by today's standards. Plus, I also bought him at a reduced price. Wonder if Leader Class Grimlock will be looked at later on.

I really loved the way this thing transforms. everything folding in to each other to form the legs and chest was super satisfying to pull off, with the way the chest and legs all tab and click together. I still have mine but I lost his sword. There was also a weaponized mode you could do with it in the instructions where you could tab the shield and sword on top and make the button on the shield activate electronics.

When you mentioned the gun sounds for when you pegged that gun in, since I didn’t know, I put in a gun then pressed the piece that activated the sounds and… it sounded different! It went from “I am sentinel prime” to, “What has happened to the allspark” and “Good to see you alive, Optimus!” So uh….. pretty neat

I personally love legends class, which then became cyberverse class, and now core class. When the 2007 movie came out I was a tiny little elementary student and obviously toys weren’t allowed in school. So some friends and I would sneak in 2007 movie legends class transformers which we loved, if only we knew better on how terrible they were. To this day I still love them especially because of the giant transformers such as titans and combiners are great to have alongside legends class figures.

For me, voyager figures almost always satisfy when it comes to complexity vs price vs scale. They have the most leeway too when it comes to being a bit bigger or smaller with more accessories. Leader figures are great but there just aren't that many of them, and a lot of the time they're taking HUGE characters and making them a bit too small (these days), or taking small characters and making them way too big (older leaders). I don't miss the lights and sounds at all, and I'm glad they got rid of those. Way too many older figures were built around having to accommodate those battery compartments and wires. ROTF Megatron was the worst offender probably. That thing looked awful to me even back in 09.

you can stand him up much better (more stable) while also keeping the legs straight if you use this method: straighten the legs as much as they will go and align them to be straight with the body, tilt the toe all the way up, ratchet the ankle forward once, place him down and tilt the toes down until he is standing straight. that has worked well for me and even with a light flick to the chest he still stays standing

I also got this recently for $20 USD complete, it's okay even putting aside accuracy I don't think it stacks up to modern leaders. It just sorta can stand there and look big. The sword but the shield in particular are awful because they don't actually peg into the hand anywhere like an MP, they just sorta sit there loosely/as tight as the hand can hold them. The transformation actually wasn't as complex as I thought it'd be, but it works out because the truck mode owns
Also to answer the question, deluxes. I think it's because they're plentiful, pretty easy to find on an aftermarket, and a lot of the time aren't too time consuming or annoying to transform but not too quick and boring to be lame. I think a lot of cool tricks happen in deluxes, because you have to fit things into a smaller budget

I rarely got my hands on anything bigger than a Voyager, but regardless I'd have to say that size class is my favourite so far. It feels like the best of both worlds, bringing the chunkitude and accuracy of the larger toys together with the fun transformations, play value and (relative) affordability of the smaller ones. In particular, the Voyager class Optimus Prime and Megatron from the Transformers Animated: The Battle Begins 2-pack were my favourite Transformers toys of all time...until I got my hands on Studio Series Gamer Edition Optimus.

    I love leader class,
my favorite so far is megatron, and grinder,
unfortunately the first time I transformered grinder his skirt front piece cracked, so now I gotta buy another one,
I heard the plastic used for blackout is better, but as you mentioned the lack of being able to turn his wrist is a big turn off, along with the price,
but I did consider it, along with getting that Lil scropinok
I wish we would get bigger leaders tho, and more intimidating looking one's, like a good leader studio series galvatron,
    and the fallen,
maybe a leader MEGATRON without the battle damaged head
those are the top 3 I want,
but I would love to see other's get made, maybe they could do a studio series sparkless, make it more realistic looking with rust hole's, maybe a piece of the mouth missing exposing the robot skeleton in different places, that could be really cool,

Ya about Dino. They finally had the license for Ferrari so they released Dino with an accurate out mode

I still to this day have this figure
    Oh he is sooooo big
I could never transform him but then last year I took the time to do so
I lost the sword and stuff and the batteries died but still it’s still perfect
I didn’t know it made sounds when you tab a gun in the hole 😯

At that time, this figure is considered to be the most accurate mainline figure for me, a lot of memories with this buddy, looks cool, interesting transformation, decent amount of details, great weapon storage, unlike the studio series, the studio series has parts forming considering the sword are acting as the both sides of the truck, I consider about gimmicks actually, so old figures still win!👍🏻
Edit: didn’t mean to say ss line bad or something, I’m also collecting it and have fun, but in terms of personal preference, I will go for the figures with gimmicks.

    I like deluxe class figures
They’re fun and easy to transform, and are a good size. Take Kingdom Warpath for example, fairly simple transformation that only takes about a minute

Not a class but I still love the 1/24 scale: Human Alliance and Alternators. Just love Human figure + Transformer dichotomy (like a lot of the shows) and how they look next to 1/24 vehicles.

Sadly, this guy never came to my country.....the last leader class i saw was ROTF battle hooks damaged head Prime, and i knew he would stay for a while in my life....and that is the only leader class figure that i own, even as of date....I'm 20 now...

Leader class, but that magnus in my opinion definitely made me fear for leader classes future, than grimlock, Bw Megatron, and Slug really showed me leader classes could still be good (ignores x spanse)
