In the first numbers round, I saw both contestants' solution, but I also had these: 7 x 2 = 14 100 - 14 - 5 = 81 5 + 1 = 6 81 x 6 = 486 5 x 2 = 10 10 - 7 = 3 100 - 3 = 97 97 x 5 = 485 485 + 1 = 486 In the second numbers round, I saw both contestants' solutions (naturally), and I also had these: 8 x 8 x 4 = 256 256 - 50 - 3 = 203 50 + 25 = 75 75 - 8 = 67 67 x 3 = 201 8 / 4 = 2 201 + 2 = 203 I also wanted to make 29 x 7, but I couldn't find any way to do it, not even a tricky roundabout way (e.g. starting with 50 + 8, which would be the double of 29). In the third numbers round, Tricia found the only solution. In the fourth round, I saw Tricia's solution but also had this related pair of solutions: 75 + 7 = 82 82 x 9 = 738 738 + 50 = 788 100 + 9 = 109 109 x 7 = 763 75 - 50 = 25 763 + 25 = 788
100 × 5 - 7 × 2 = 0 (lovely one to start things off with) 50 × 4 + 3 = 0 (OK, come on now, number generator, give us something more meaty) 100 × 8 + 75 + 10 × (1 + 1) = 0 (there we go, that's more like it. A nice all sixer) 100 × 7 + 75 + 50 ÷ (9 - 4) = -3 (barely barely miss the mark, me thinks)
Had all 4 before Colin pressed the buzzer
Took me 5 seconds for the last one...
Yeah, these were weirdly easy today.
It took me a few seconds longer for the third one, but I got the other three before Colin hit the buzzer.
In the first numbers round, I saw both contestants' solution, but I also had these:
7 x 2 = 14
100 - 14 - 5 = 81
5 + 1 = 6
81 x 6 = 486
5 x 2 = 10
10 - 7 = 3
100 - 3 = 97
97 x 5 = 485
485 + 1 = 486
In the second numbers round, I saw both contestants' solutions (naturally), and I also had these:
8 x 8 x 4 = 256
256 - 50 - 3 = 203
50 + 25 = 75
75 - 8 = 67
67 x 3 = 201
8 / 4 = 2
201 + 2 = 203
I also wanted to make 29 x 7, but I couldn't find any way to do it, not even a tricky roundabout way (e.g. starting with 50 + 8, which would be the double of 29).
In the third numbers round, Tricia found the only solution.
In the fourth round, I saw Tricia's solution but also had this related pair of solutions:
75 + 7 = 82
82 x 9 = 738
738 + 50 = 788
100 + 9 = 109
109 x 7 = 763
75 - 50 = 25
763 + 25 = 788
Spoilers for teatime teasers:
Very amusing that both of them had to do with financial hardship today.
Thanks for putting the blank lines above, these new scrolling comments are spoiling a lot 😭
7-2 = 14+5 = 19 100-19 = 81 5+1 = 6X81 = 486
100-2 = 95X5 = 490-5 = 485+1 = 486
8÷4 = 2 8-2 = 6X25 = 150+3 = 153+50 = 203
8X3 = 24+8 = 32X4 = 128+50 = 178+25 = 203
Seriously!? They needed a shot of Rachel looking up and thinking about 203!?
1+1 = 2X10 = 20 100X8 = 800+75+20 = 895
75+7 = 82X9 = 738+50 = 788
100÷50 = 2+9 = 11 75-4 = 71X11 = 781+7 = 788
1. 5x100-2x7=486 or 100-(2x7)-5=81x(1+5)=486
2. Zzzzzzz 25x8+3=203
3. 8x100+75+((1+1)x10)=895
4. 7x100+75+4+9=788 or (75+7)x9+50=788
5. MAGNIFIED
895:
100 * 8 = 800
1 + 1 = 2
10* 2 = 20
800 + 75 + 20 = 895
For 486:
5 × (100 - 2) = 490
490 - (5 - 1) = *_486_*
For 203:
4 × 50 = 200
8 ÷ 8 = 1
200 × 1 = 200
200 + 3 = *_203_*
First One
100 x 5 = 500
2 x 7 = 14
500 - 14 = 486
Second One
4 x 50 = 200
3 + 200 = 203
Third One
8 x 100 = 800
1 + 1 = 2
2 x 10 = 20
20 + 75 = 95
95 + 800 = 895
Fourth One
7 x 100 = 700
700 + 75 + 9 + 4 = 788
100 × 5 - 7 × 2 = 0 (lovely one to start things off with)
50 × 4 + 3 = 0 (OK, come on now, number generator, give us something more meaty)
100 × 8 + 75 + 10 × (1 + 1) = 0 (there we go, that's more like it. A nice all sixer)
100 × 7 + 75 + 50 ÷ (9 - 4) = -3 (barely barely miss the mark, me thinks)
486=5×100-2×7=(5+1)×(100-2×7-5)
788=7×100+75+9+4
895=8×100+75+(1+1)×10
486 = (100 - 5 + 2) * 5 + 1
203=4×50+3=8×25+3
203=3×(50+25-8)+8/4
895 "That's the only one I spotted" - Rachel
Oh Raych...
(10+8)*100=1800
1800-10 = 1790
1790/(1+1)=895
Didn't even need the 75
but you did use the 10 twice though so...
Stephen…
Oh Steve….
203:
50 * 4 = 200
200 + 3 = 203
25 * 8 = 200
200 + 3 = 203
50 + 25 - 8 = 67
67 * 3 = 201
8 / 4 = 2
201 + 2 = 203
Women’s version of Countdown? 😉
788:
100 * 7 = 700
700 + 75 + 9 + 4 = 788
75 + 7 = 82
82 * 9 = 738
738 + 50 = 788
100 + 9 = 109
109 * 7 = 763
763 + 75 - 50 = 788
you can also try this:
50+75=125
125*7=875
875-100=775
775+9+4=788
