they tried and failed to implement I-muse system in the remaster they'd do the same to X-wing and Tiefighter completely ruining the game since its even more important there. Playing this remaster is a huge downgrade to the original if you give a dang about the music. These modern developers don't understand old-school FM and GM MIDI especially how lucasarts implemented it in these 3 games.
Man, this game was scary with sounds, music and general atmosphere! Maybe completed the 1st mission only without cheating as a kid on PSX :-) Most puzzles were daunting and impossible. Thanks for the remaster; sounds awesome!
Thank you so so much for working on this soundtrack kind sir. This recording sounds beautiful and really brings out the details of Mr. Bajakian's original compositions while adding your own touch a la Gordy Haab with the Battlefront games. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would it be possible to have a WAV or FLAC version of your mixes featured in the video? Thank you for all your work and dedication to keep Dark Forces and its music alive to this day.
Just curious, is Richard Barrett's remastering sf the soundtrack used in the Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered game that was released not to long ago? I'm eventually going to buy it.
Anyone know if there is soundfont that was likely used to create this awesome remix? I would love to dabble around with the hundreds of midi files I have. And of course where to download it?
I love this new version! To me it feels like it's more in line with the retro midi sounds of the original soundtrack. I think I still prefer your previous remastered upload from 5 years back or so. That version felt like it could fit right into a classic Star Wars movie along side John Williams' scores. I can no longer find that upload on TH-cam, did you take it down?
Hey,Do you think you do a Cover of the Jokerz Fight from the JLU Episode tilted The Once and Future Thing Part 2: Timewarped and I would really love to hear that Theme cause the beginning is so Badass and has a Beyond feel to it.
to clarify - you made the one for the jedi academy mod ages ago, right? (which I've been listening to for almost 15 years) - but you have no involvement in the remaster? also what sample library etc did you use?
Lol i didnt have any hand in that mod, and i was in the same boat as you since i was in 7th grade year. I was always disappointed the whole soundtrack wasnt remade when they did it (i love the playstation rendition of the music) I used FL Studios with orchestra based libraries through Kontakt 6. I modeled this album after the PSX version
@@richardbarrett4488 yeah i must have been confused because i must have seen your username when looking for the soundtrack before. - why the psx version specifically? i don't think the music is any different from the pc version?
@ besides childhood nostalgia, the psx version of the dark forces soundtrack featured a more symphony like version of the music. This is because the game did not feature the iMuse program that allowed for dynamic switching of the music (stalk theme to danger theme). But also the psx version featured extended versions of the tracks not seen or utilized in the pc. Vice Versa the pc music features music not used in game in both pc and psx (kell dragon, boba fett, dark trooper fight themes).
@@richardbarrett4488 interesting, it never occured to me the psx version didn't have imuse. because i assume it had less technical limitations... that's really losing something there.

what happened to the older versions?
I miss the slow intro for Gromas Mines, that was a real banger, it's been stuck on my mind since yesterday.
Hopefully somebody can mod his into the Dark Forces Remastered Port, or even The Force Engine!
Honestly Tie Fighter must be next if I get the time!
Please yes, I have been loving every second of this and I think the amazing music from TIE Fighter could use the same treatment.
@@Deimos0034I second this! TIE Fighter’s music is epic!
I would frlip a switch, imagine the original MIDI glorious soundtrack getting so much love.

This is an amazing remaster, you did such a good job! I've been waiting for someone to properly remix Tie Fighter...
Dang, this deserves more views. This has got to be one of the most underrated SW:DF soundtrack remake I have ever heard!
Love it! My favs are Danuta (lvl1) and Imp Weapons research facility (lvl 4)
Thank you so much for this upload, Good Sir Barrett Jr.! 🙏🏻
Now I have to wait until I get home from work to download. Love the multiple takes to fit the environments they represent!
Yes, great work!
Hey I know you...
Great work both of you.

Excellent work Richard👏
Goddamn i was literally just listening to your V3 part for the trillionth time, so glad to see another version.
46:08 I absolutely love this tune, don't know why, feels so classic. Great job btw, so much effort!
This is from ep6 "it's a trap!!!" scene
This sounds absolutely phenomenal.
Amazing, Thank you!
Thanks man! I hope you don't mind I used this awesome remastered in my Mysteries of the sith Remastered Mod 🙂😉
Love this! Loved the older versions of it too, is there any chance of listening to those again? I never got a copy.😢
This is amazing!!! 🔥🔥🔥 gonna use this in my rpg campaign

If only Nightdive took a similar effort...
