I learned of this group while at a laundromat. A gal folding clothes had a portable player, and the music caught my interest. She told me the name, and I looked them up online when I got home. I was captivated by both Candice's beauty, and the beauty of her voice. I keep hoping to see that gal at the laundromat again just to thank her.
What a beautiful song! Never heard of this band til I just discovered them on TH-cam. So glad I did. They are incredible, totally enjoy their music. I hope they will tour soon. Def will see them.
For over 40 years this man has captured audience's imagination....again and again.......labeled as moody and difficult to work with....he has influenced.....EVERYBODY......when eveyting is said and done he WILL go down as one of the best ever.....in his 70s now and STILL making great music.....EVERYBODY bows to Ritchie.....and rightly so.
Love the way you changed the Lyrics to Streets of Paris at the end, But we have to remember that homelessness is happening all over the world, no matter what country you are from or visiting, you will always find someone in these unfortunate circumstances, This rendition of Ralf McTell’s Streets Of London was beautifully sung and a pleasure to listen to, 🇬🇧😎👍🏼
I haven't heard this in a long time... i missed it, so, as it popped in my head, i searched it and when it played.. it made me cry.. i sang it in tears. No song can make me cry..
Ich hatte als DP Fan erst Probleme. Nur man muß Ritchie anerkennen er war Bei DP genial & jetzt bleibt er das auf ganz andere Art .... DP Fans die es nicht gut finden, versteh ich trotzdem ...
Candace has one of the most beautiful and angelic voices I have ever heard. She is a natural. I truly love the music from blackmores night. Their music stirs up all kinds of nostalgic feelings of longing, sadness, loss of a loved one and hopefulness of a brighter future.
Originally this song was "The streets of Paris " Ralph McTell altered the title to " The streets of London". because he thought it sounded better .McTells version was a protest against destitution and poverty in a wealthy and vibrant city, It was about people that were excluded from the mainstream because they were old and lonely, past their "sell by date" no longer needed and the world didn't care about them. Candice sings this with an angelic voice, sweet and note perfect but with no cutting edge it doesn't make you think about the guy wandering home alone or the old women with the worn out shoes which makes me wonder if she realises just what this song is all about
Love their other stuff but from an ex veteran whos been homeless with PTSD etc shes turned a sad song that strikes a chord and brings a tear to a glass eye into a happy slappy song very wrong . Listen to Ralph Mctell or RW's version and feel the emotion
The song is not just about the homeless but about all forgotten and ignored people. Elderly, lonely, homeless. Ralph McTell wrote it after hitchiking through Europe. She puts so much emotion into the song.
I just love ALL the critics on here....and their remarks that.."She doesn't understand the tune" ect....I am SURE she does...and the arrangement is on PURPOSE from the original Ralph Mc Tell's original...and btw...can ANY of you critics on here do it?...as good as she??... I know the answer is NO...unless you have been in the business like Ritchie has...for 40 years....and can OUTDO him ..then keep your snarky comments to yourselves..
Ralph McTell - Streets of London Have you seen the old man In the closed-down market Kicking up the paper with his worn out shoes In his eyes you see no pride And held loosely at his side Yesterday's paper telling yesterday's news. So how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind. Have you seen the old girl Who walks the streets of London Dirt in her hair and her clothes in rags She's no time for talking She just keeps right on walking Carrying her home in two carrier bags. So how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind. In the all night cafe At a quarter past eleven Same old man is sitting there on his own Looking at the world Over the rim of his tea-cup Each tea last an hour Then he wanders home alone. So how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind. And have you seen the old man Outside the seaman's mission Memory fading with The medal ribbons that he wears In our winter city The rain cries a little pity For one more forgotten hero And a world that doesn't care. So how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind...
I award you the Street of London Queen 2024

Beautiful voice making a breathtaking version of a great ballad, such a great arrangement with their crescendo to final verse.

He was the writer so his is the best! He sings it with wonderful feeling..
Now that was good. Great vocal by Candace and some beautiful playing by Ritchie. Not flashy, but just oh so tasty.

She puts so much emotion into the song.
This live version is infinitely better than the clinically dead studio recorded version.
the kind of performance that makes you wish you'd been there

a very good cover
