I've been playing rock and metal lead guitar for 40 years, and way back after this came out, I tried to learn it, and a great deal of it was beyond my ability to decipher, trying to learn it by ear. I've always wanted to learn this tune properly though, and a couple weeks ago I decided to try it again, and this video was the first link I clicked after searching to see if anyone had a how-to for it. Now, thanks to you, I have it all down, and it's just a matter of getting it all up to speed. I learned a lot from this song, in particular, the way you teach it, and I don't mean just the song itself. Eric Johnson's technique is a bit unusual, so I also learned new ways to approach these scales and licks through your in-depth analysis of it all. I want to thank you for this, but also for all your other videos I've seen, which are first rate. You're not only a first rate player, but a first rate teacher as well, and that's kind of a rare gift. Cheers to you!
Okay, I've got the first two notes nailed down. I'll post an update in 50 years when I get a little further along. 😆 It's way above my level, but I still enjoy these more complex lessons and learn from them.

Been going back over some favorite giant guitar songs like Cliffs and was surprised to see you honestly since I usually see you doing more radio rock. Had to say, you sound fantastic man I was blown away after the opening sequence!!! 🤯🔥The way you are laying this out is so easy to understand without being too long winded, just like all your videos, now I know next time just come here and save myself some time searching! 🤣👍🤘🎸🔥

That strat on the wall is an Yngwie Malmsteen signature strat… I have never used that in a video… the strat I am playing in this video is the same guitar from the older Cliffs videos… just about decade and a half apart 😁
