Every time I hear this song I get "goose bumps." My choir that I was in used to do this song. In fact we went to tent revivals. We NEED a good old tent revival. We need a revival in America! I love when he belts out at "she knew her son would live again." And He did! Thank You Jesus!!!

I disliked this video because while I love Christ, I loathe when snake oil salesman take money in His name. Also because I was looking for a song of the same title by The Lone Bellow.
This dude has a great voice- I don't dislike him. I dislike the basket that is passed at these things so the preacher can buy his mistress new boobs and some blow to snort them off of.
I dislike *any* religion that doesn't believe charity is essential. And true charity. Not if-you-pray-with-me-I-will-give-you-a-bowl-of-soup-charity. This is fund raising, not religion.
+AeroDoe Just so you that you know, this was not a traveling preachin'. There weren't baskets passed around. This was a concert featuring several internationally known vocal ensembles. People paid for the tickets to get into the taping. It is not a worship service even though worshiping does happen.
Also, Bill and Gloria Gaither give millions to charities every year as do many others on stage.
To add, this has been around much longer and is much better known than The Lone Bellow's song of the same name.
I just wanted to clarify.
Just because one sings a song well doesn't mean another can't. Describing "snake oil" implies that there is evidence of some wrong-doing. Without evidence, such a criticism says more about the critic than the subject. I am a skeptic by nature (and by profession) but Guy Penrod and the Gaithers (who wrote this song) deserve some approval. Judgement is God's. I've paid for tickets to hear them and have paid for their sheet music so I can try to sing it. I don't sing it as well, but I can hear their good work in my mind and heart.
AeroDoe, I am so sorry that you don't know anything about Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Homecoming Videos they have made over the years. You have missed out on such a precious blessing by assuming that these people are "fund raising" .... as a group, they give away more money than most of us make in a year.

Guy Penrod was one of my dear mothers favorites. We lost her 7 years ago this August and this was sang at her funeral. It will always speak to me as a song of peace I know my momma is in the loving hands of our merciful and powerful God. Momma I love you and I have missed you everyday.

There's got to be someone who has nothing better to do than to criticize someone else's work. Try taking a look at the deeper meaning of the song. Starting in Matthew 27:45, paraphrasing, Darkness covered the land, Jesus cried out, Father, why have You forsaken Me. The veil was torn, the earth quaked, the rocks were split, and the graves opened up and Jesus died. Jesus was buried and "Then Came the Morning", Sunday, Jesus rose from the grave, His body was gone, the Stone was rolled away and Hope for all the human race rose with the dawn. The order of the lyrics has no bearing on whether or not anyone gets into Heaven, your belief in Jesus determines where you spend eternity, Heaven or Hell, you decide. It's called free will, God gave you the choice.
Satan & the demons believe. It takes faith and a belief from deep down...not just an empty belief of the demons...if you believe you follow.
