I remember that specific concert...20. Deutsches Jazz Festival Frankfurt, Friday 14 February 1986, nearly exact 35 years ago..Kongresshalle...I was there to see Scofield, had no idea who was Bill Frisell...when the concert starts after one minute I had only eyes for Mr. Frisell and I was running into the record store to buy Bill Frisell records the next day. I totally ignored Scofield on that evening... even Frisell's comping was more interesting than Scofield's soloing... on the same evening they had Bill Laswell´s Last Exit with Sonny Sharrock...even new for me...what a great night!!!!
5:30 -- The band is still in a hard, propulsive groove with Scofield on lead. 5:55 -- Shift to Frisell, whereupon things get strange. Very strange. 7:00 -- By this point, even the rhythm section has fallen away, as Frisell, the young crazy genius, takes us deep into his experimental soundscape which seems only remotely related to everything else that's been going on. It is so beautiful. All the players are phenomenal, but it's particularly a treat to get to see Frisell when he was so young. Thanks for sharing this rare gem.
Frisell owns it here. So much more interesting than anyone else in that band. Scofield is desperately trying to cram in as many notes as possible. Gets tiring.

These guys had one of the best bands every. Amazing rhythm section, and two of the best, although very different, guitarists alive.

If 35 is considered "young".
capo es una poronga esto
@@blerkh If 35 is young, then count me in!
@@drkaufman The funny thing is that, in terms of age, he was actually the oldest member of that band.
@@blerkh yeah, it is, you may discover one day
Love this band!
Good God, what a band!
Bill’s like “Hey Sco, look no chorus pedal! Just bend the neck!”
Bill like, wanna play 'out'? Hold my beer..........
Bill «Beyond» Frisell!!
Marc Johnsonは永遠の師匠です
彼が居なかったらウッドベース始めてなかった😃
100% agree Phenomenal
YES!!! One of my all time favorite albums/bands!!❤🙏🙌
Edit: I love you Bill!! Fearless)
still love it!!
Young Frisell and Scofield.
Frisell just took it all to outer space
Oh yeah, back then everybody wore those big glasses!
After listening to Bill Frisell and his endless noodling and testing sound pedals I need some Status Quo
Bun E.'s brother, Bud E. Carlos on drums...
Frisell's solo foreshadows Kurt Cobain's
Better than the original
7:12 😗👀😂😂
Does Eskine play on Ludwig drums ? - does not sound like Gretch drums?
Looks like Sonor to me ...
Sonor
Sonor!
White Sonorlites all the way!!

Nardis
Exactly, dont know why no one is saying it
Sco’s tone is so bad here 😂
Great band. Not impressed by the compositions though. I prefer other music both by Frisell and Schofield
This is a Coltrane tune from A Love Supreme.
@@mikebruns8839 Isn't this "Bemsha Swing" by Monk?
Im sorry but frisell sounds like a guy who doesnt know how to play guitar
Absolutely! You nailed! My mom can play and do that frisell is playing. Horrendous thing without senses random notes 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
Infact you are both the greatest guitar players in the world and Bill Fisell is nobody. If you do not understand better shut up. 😀
