Nigeria Can Consider Getting a $30 Billion IMF Stabilization Programme - Moghalu

  • Even though the IMF might be a dirty word in Nigeria, we are already doing what they want, with the removal of subsidies. The real solution to our economic crisis is to study what brought us here. Nigeria can consider issuing a N20trn bond to finance projects in railway, housing, and agriculture nationwide and create 5 million jobs within three years

Mr Moghalu came up with a very comprehensive and analytical thesis of Nigeria's problem and some solutions. The greatest set- back Nigeria has, its inability to mobilize Nigerians who are one of the most confident and smartest people on earth both in the diaspora and domestic to help solve their problems, This has been as a result of the many tribal and religous differences in the make -up of Nigeria.. This could also be the greatest asset Nigeria have, but has never been utilized. Once Nigerians see themselves as a Nation instead of groups of selfish tribal and religous entities most of their problems will be solved.

Kingsley Maghalu is still taking us to IMF and Worldbank policy that destroyed Nigeria by taking $30B loan, he's not even talking about living wage that will develop economy.
He said Nigeria should float the Naira again to build railway, housing and Agriculture, that's the problem, IMF loan is a big problem in Nigeria, where are all the money we got from IMF since 1960? He's not asking questions and he want to put us into more problem.
Who are those investors? Same IMF white folks that are just here to cash out and make our people poorer
When you see people speak English, you think they have sense
Kingsley Maghalu is not aware that our problem is not wealth creation but distribution of wealth. We have enough money to go round but our criminal recycled politicians and elites in the society are stealing and storing them for nonsense.

The application of Keynesian, Friedman or any sort of economic model is not the fundamental issue as regards the Nigerian economy. Corruption awaits any policies or models that intend to reshape the state of the economy. Currently, Nigeria needs a rigorous social and institutional framework that would reset our mindsets. Aside from the foregoing, no policy or model can ever yield a positive result.

It's one thing to get sound and result oriented ideas in Nigeria but to make it works had been the problem. T 42:00 here are demonic agents in the system who will not accept re-forms or allow anything to work because of their satanic economic interest as we currently have in the petroleum industry. They oppose all forms of reforms using their political and financial powers, that is the Nigerian problems and even if you give the Prof the opportunity to serve as president he may not be as successful as you hear him speak. The system needs total overhaul and to be rid of corruption before we can record any significant progress.

There are a good number of such Nigerians gifted with very sound ideas and a practicable road map out of "this woods ". The issue is whether the government is amenable to advice. Does the government care about the woes of the country?. Are they committed to turning things around for the very deeply distressed citizens or are they non challant and rather looting from the already damaged economy.?

Brilliant submission, another IMF loans being the top option confirms the immense problem Nigeria is in. You won’t get great loans from any lender if you don’t have income to back it up-if anything, it might be a predatory loan or one where the borrowers bears all the risk. This is all in hope that a small group of investors would see it as opportunity for quick cash, a case of “free in free out.”😢

As long as our leaders are fixated on sharing oil money as against boosting agriculture to export levels and manufacturing, the economy will be on this downward trend.

There is economical war in Nigeria just as there was leadership war in Nigeria which is becoming the thing of the past
The Igbo wants to hijack the economy control from the Yoruba. The attack on farms is part of a battle for who controls the economy.
When the battle for the economy is ended and the true economical leader his seen, Nigerian economy is stabilized

The land must be rightly used.

Nigeria is not larger than India, China, USA, etc. Nigeria is not too poor. What is happening to Nigeria is govt's insensitivity to Development. Why is Ajaokuta Steel not running? Why should Nigeria have only 3 cement factories? Why should Nigeria not have a working refinery? Population is not our problem, rather govt has failed to make use of its population. The youths that are majority are hunted by law enforcement agencies. Let's deliberately delve into agriculture to feed ourselves at least.

Can Nigeria forget tribal bigotism and let the rich and well enlightened people in that land, whilst they are still mentioned as Nigerians. FACT: Igbos are far far ahead of any group of Nigerians in everything, if they take charge of Nigeria fully, trust me Nigeria will develope beyound recognition within ten years. FACT

This is not about tribe. It is about empowering the most competent, accountable and passionate people to govern the country from all the tribes in Nigeria. There are very sound individuals in every tribe, but the thieves, looters, election riggers, drug Lords, tout coordinators will not allow them.

@@adekunleyussuf4259 I take it you like Lagos (former Capital) and Abuja ( present Capital) . No civilized country in the world regard their Capital as belonging to a particular region, reason, it will always have the lion share of investments, from Enterprenuars to Expatraites etc. It is only in third/fourth world called Nigeria do indigines of a country capital claim they own a national wealth. Even then scratch the surface you find that in Nigeria , Igbos develope not only these national cities but they also develope their towns. FACT...Actualize Biafra and in three months both lagos and Abuja will become slums : FACT...not tribal, but Bare naked fact based on physical measurable evidence

@christianigwegbe8118 Joking! Southwest would always lead the nation. Even SW would do well as Oduduwa Republic. Southeast has a huge mountain to climb. They would get there but going to take a lot of hard work for the Igbos in general to start heading to SE to develop their region. Otherwise, nothing is going to change to the beleaguered SE even with Obingo at the helm of affairs.

Why is it that a country Nigeria, that is about 230 million in population is asking help from Germany, a country of about 75 million for investment? Retrospectively, what is in the heads of Germans that Nigerians lack? Are there other groups in Nigeria that have the enthusiasm to give a trial of what Germany is doing? If that exists, why not tap their talents?. But then the demise of a nation begins with a series of mistepps. Lift yourself by your bootstraps before begging other nations for help. Otherwise agitations by the 230 million people would create an explosive dismemberment.

Just saw and would like to let you know that we seem to be building our castle in thin air. There’s nothing like structure in Nigeria. This is why it’s easy for them to swindle us.
Most countries of the world operate data- driven systems whereby it is crystal clear to see the activities in the system except Nigeria. Until such a time when our systems are transparent and can be evidenced in actual numbers and not ‘manipulated’ that will be the time to analyze using relevant laws and theories to access the performance and validity of the economy. We are just being fed with abracadabra economic theories which have no simplest resemblance to the reality of our people.
