It was 30+ kids doing what they love. The energy in that room while on stage was always magic. I feel that it's more symbolic at this point of the studio and the team. 30 people coming together, feeding of each other's passion and energy, moving in unison, and having the time of their lives. I doubt it will ever go away. I'm getting a bit nostalgic, it's been 4 years since I graduated.
Wow! I'm a choreographer and teacher and I would love to be able to train my students to this level. That was really an unstanding piece. I would have personally done a different song choice but regardless that was truly outstanding!
the number of dancers in some of the smaller parts have changed, but other than that the only change i saw was the change in the pyramid with the turn and the jump. debbie always is changing the amount of people in parts. i really loved that pyramid section. seeing it power down the stage was really effective.
i get were you comeing from but are you loking at this vidio they all have fantastic technique and i personaly think that the lifts and trricks make this dance a million times more interesting!
I wasn't dissing the studio at all, I'm sorry if it came off that way. In fact, I was trying to defend the "every dance is the same" comment. I've seen other people say the same thing: DSD's numbers may look the same but that's because year after year those just happen to be the ones picked to go through to finals, the number that gets the audience on their feet and excited. It's not their fault. DSD dancers are very well-trained and talented and I happen to be a fan of the studio's dances.
I get that, but they can't control what makes it into the finals. The senior dance (large/super) that makes the final is generally the Rep Co open dance. This dance is almost a tradition at this point. When I was there it had most of the graduating seniors are in it, it was the one as a company we put the most focus because it was us as a whole. Yes, there were company tap and lyrical groups, but there was something special about that dance. Cont b/c I have too much to say
i know what you mean, some other studios definitely don't get "this" kind of criticism. but I would definitely love to see more from this studio. I just feel that their finals dances are "predictable" because you know there'll be those lifts and that guy who does the back tucks across the stage, you know?
I wish you could see some of the other numbers out there that don't make it to the finals. Jill and Katey have done some amazing work this year. DSD is not the only studio that has a style, there are acro studios or ones that specialize in partnering dances. Watching Showstopper nats there many dances where there were only lifts and an interesting theme. Do they get all the complaints and criticism? No, not like DSD. This is one type of dance that they do but NOT all they do.
i would agree but just recently i on a couple of different videos that category is called Acro. It stand for i think anything dance with a lo of tricks and style but that is just a guess
once again, this is only one of about 200 dances. yes the open dances look similar from year to year, but there are some amazing dances that no one seems to pay attention to or realize are DSD.
The converstation on the parts reminds me of an article in dance spirt. Debbies daughter was interviewed and she was like "when i got a part in a dance the parents would be like ,'its only because shes debbies daugther'" And it kept going on talkin about her not gettting treated fairly cause Debbie was her mom. Does she still dance at all?
are these canaidan girls and boys cause i hear they are really good and i'm so nervouse for this years showstoppers natinals because they will be there and i'm doing a solo and i'm just so nervouse and it's my first year at showstoppers so u could imagine the nerves i'm feeling
Sorry, due to the 500 character count I can only say so much, and it came across wrong. The point of this and some of my other comments on DSD's videos is that they train their dancers *so* well that I think they're capable of a lot more than the choreography given. It's just that not only is the choreography of this one dance very competition style, but that all of the dances I've seen seem to be almost the same. However, DSD does this style of choreography way better than the other schools.
All of their big dances are of the same variety, they're used to get the audience going. It's not like it's the same exact choreo each year, just same style. I see that in other studios too, it's just what happens to go through to finals. Watch Hiding Under Water, Breakin' Dishes, or Body Language and you'll see a different.
these dances are amazing and the their technique is out of this world.. but it just feels like theres something missing as in the content in their dancess is so similar that im waiting for something else.. dont get me wrong it is amazing no doubt.. but we already know you can jump and tumble and turn
5ive was really good too though, it was very different and creative. I personally though both dances were extremely deserving of the first place honor. =]
search "deborahs stage door" and watch all their dances... they are ALL sped up like this. almost to the point that you can't understand the song. the music is annoying but the dancing is great.
the only thing I hate about DSD is that no matter what dance they do, they throw a million tricks and lifts in there. I mean, honestly, we get that you can do back tucks and layouts and lifts, lets see some more technique.
the oldest ones in the junior dances are 14. that's only about 2 years older than the cutoff age. that is in no way cheating if the average age still works out to be under 12. as for the teen group there are a couple older kids, but the majority are around 12-15. together it averaged out to the correct 13-14 age range for teen. that is in no way CHEATING.
this was probably the most immature comment i've seen on youtube. that was really unnecessary and unfortunately it makes you seem ignorant...i know smd girls, and i love them, but DSD is a powerhouse too.
the dance is not similar to 5ive at all. Its not even the same concept. "Wear ideal shoes get love from the dudes 4 bad ass chicks from the Moulin Rouge" The 4 bad ass chicks... the four...
So the choreo is predictable. So are hundreds of other competition dancers. The dancers are great, and I don't see anything on your account that makes me think you are a good judge of talent. Go back to school and maybe you'll learn some manners.

this is UNBELIEVABLE.
is there any way to get this song mix? i've had it stuck in my head for days!
hahaha ur funny sara
and i love this dance too
wow there freaking good!!!!!!
I wish you could see some of the other numbers out there that don't make it to the finals. Jill and Katey have done some amazing work this year.

great there are parts if you look closely where one of the girls is off count but great dance :-D
I LOVE THIS COMPETITION WHAT DID THEY WIN?
Yeah, she was in this dance.
i couldn't have said that better myself, iceklutz! just because everyone sees one dance online, doesn't mean the other 300 a year don't count!
i would agree but just recently i on a couple of different videos that category is called Acro. It stand for i think anything dance with a lo of tricks and style but that is just a guess
yay Reppie pals! I love this dance!
lets go FIERCE !! haha im stpid sorry..
but im pumped for nationals YALL
once again, this is only one of about 200 dances. yes the open dances look similar from year to year, but there are some amazing dances that no one seems to pay attention to or realize are DSD.
@vdpdancer98 they were either axels or baryshnikov's

LOVE IT

This isn't a dance; this is a cheerleading routine.
en serio?¿? los amo!!!!!!!!
The tumbling wasn't as sharp as other groups, but their sync was incredible! Good job guys!
those costumes are hot! does anyone know where they order from?
5ive was really good too though, it was very different and creative. I personally though both dances were extremely deserving of the first place honor. =]
oh okay, you had me worried for a sec there, glad to know it was a mistake!
Is there anyway to get the song?
Love the dance, but why did they have to speed up the song?
yea they are and thanks :)
search "deborahs stage door" and watch all their dances... they are ALL sped up like this. almost to the point that you can't understand the song. the music is annoying but the dancing is great.
but those are songs everyone uses. suzette's does not own the songs. dsd has been using those songs for years.
no we were from michigan.
i want that girls costume
the only thing I hate about DSD is that no matter what dance they do, they throw a million tricks and lifts in there. I mean, honestly, we get that you can do back tucks and layouts and lifts, lets see some more technique.

we didnt order them they were made by our costume department
FUCKING BAD ASS BABY. Awesome the boys are super good
Aggressive.
yeah i know i've taken class there before and it's only hard because it's all tricks.
this was probably the most immature comment i've seen on youtube. that was really unnecessary and unfortunately it makes you seem ignorant...i know smd girls, and i love them, but DSD is a powerhouse too.
Ricky Martin
Go watch Pulse
oooo!!
think ther best dance was its raining men
the dance is not similar to 5ive at all. Its not even the same concept.
"Wear ideal shoes get love from the dudes
4 bad ass chicks from the Moulin Rouge"
The 4 bad ass chicks... the four...
Shut up skinny duo partner! No ur not!
without a doubt you guys are talented, but there's not really any real dancing, just tricks.
So the choreo is predictable. So are hundreds of other competition dancers. The dancers are great, and I don't see anything on your account that makes me think you are a good judge of talent. Go back to school and maybe you'll learn some manners.
