As someone who has admired MTG from afar for years without getting involved, this LOTR set was the hook I needed. Picked up all four decks and roped in the whole gang of friends. I absolutely love the Elf Deck and all the politicking. I was hoping a video like this existed!
Same here. Played in the mid to late 90s; sold all those cards a few years ago, and uh... bought a house. Had no magic cards apart from a 2019 "game night" box set that i kept unopened "just in case." well, three weeks ago that was still the only magic thing i owned; today I have 4 LotR commander precons, both midnight hunt, both crimson vow, rebellion rising and more token creatures than i think i will ever use. Still trying to convince my teenage children to give this a go, haven't even played yet.
I have not seen Chris since he played Champions of Midgard with Wil Wheaton like 7 years ago. I’m so stoked to see him doing well and still being involved in board games and nerdy things. An absolute pleasure seeing him again still just as funny and witty as he was back then.
It's up there for best games I've ever played, but I'd love to have a good remake, it's the kind of stuff that makes you wonder. Then again, I actually preferred Thousand Year Door, and still have a working GC (as far as I know), so I could still play that, but it's certainly exciting!
I adore Rachel and the vibes she brings to the table. Great humor and always on top of effects and triggers. Everyone in this game has great onscreen energy

Wow seeing Chris Kluwe at a magic table reminded me of one of the first mtg videos I watched where he annihilated Day9 with a Demonic Pact deck AND he's playing my favorite precon from this set!!! Great surprise to wake up to!
Yet another great episode! Nice deck choice for Brian to start as the bad guy. Vikings fan here, Kluwe came to MN around the time I started actually paying attention to nfl. He made weekly appearances on the local rock radio morning show and even talked about nerdy stuff. Awesome to see Chris getting into guesting on gameplay videos! Oh and seeing Rachel and Olivia at the same table is pretty sweet too.

For Brian: I think that actually the treasure token has a barrow blade on it, which is another of the Tales of Middle Earth team’s flavour wins. At the end of Chapter VIII of Fellowship, “Fog on the Barrow Downs”, when Tom Bombadil rescues the hobbits from the Great Barrow, he goes back into the Barrow to get some of its treasure. He places it on top of the mound the Barrow is under and says that he does so in the hopes that someone will come and find it and take it away, because that will stop the barrow wights coming back. So, it then makes sense that treasure tokens, which are meant to be removed (from mounds or, in the MtG case, the battlefield), should have barrow blades (presumably whole little troves of barrow treasure) on them.
Bought all the decks and they are super sweet. So far I am loving Riders of Rohan the most. It pops off and goes wide super quick. As always these continue to brighten my day and always make me happy. Thank you Brian and Olivia for these videos. Whenever I am feeling the world and weight on my shoulders, I pop these on and am in a safe space.

This is an absolutely factual statement. My cousin had a multitap, so whenever my brother and I got to visit him, we would play 3-player Secret of Mana like FIENDS until we were all falling asleep. A lot of great inside jokes and laughter from those experiences.

Fantastic 😂 I played Sauron myself and also Subjugated the Hobbits, then I was turned against by the table in which my board was cleared but I landed the Living Death with Sauron in graveyard but in the end I could not beat 3 players so our game ended up very flavorful and we absolutely love this set. Next night though is my upgraded Sauron using The Dark Lord instead 😈😆

This game we had: 2 gorgeous Ladies 2 awesome Dudes 4 amazing and fun Decks Countless LotR-meme references And The most fun I ever had in watching 4 players play Commander in an eternity, all previous episodes included. TY all for this amazing experience and the laughs, and "woo"s and "wow"s and "oh"s! This expansion has been a doozy and a pleasure to play with on the mobile App and has given me countless fun memories already! I personally enjoy playing "There and Back Again", sacking my Smaug to Dragonspark Reactor and then burning for 14+. 😂 I am aware it's only a turn 8+ wincon, but if you stall enough, they never see it coming. 😉

The Mario RPG and even the Secret of Mana with the Multi-tap references has me feeling so many good feelings.
mistake at 45:08, when she taps to sacrifice her food, sam is on the board which makes all food sacrifice 1 less to cast, and she tapped 2, when she only needed to tap 1
I also first played commander in an 8 person 2 headed giant game! It really helped me learn to keep track of a lot of triggers at once as i kept playing tbh
