Darling, I truly appreciate your openness and yes, Morgan has given you great hair. Covid also does horrible damage to hair; the thinning and dry breakage is quite common. K18 wrecked my ends after a few weeks, I'd advise to use it as a once a week treatment. Love you lady. Antonia (London)
Amen sister. Try pulling out tufts of hair 12 days after chemo and waiting months to not look like a boy. Now I’m free of the beauty industry telling me it’s better to be blond or whatever.
I have been a hairdresser for 25 years and nothing beats Redken anti snap leave in for dry damaged hair that needs repaired. It’s my absolute favorite. Also using Kenra blow dry spray would help you. It’s has heat protection in it so your hair is protected better for your blow dry. You can cocktail that with the Kenra silk Creme also. Good luck girl! Love all your videos
Hi Lisa I just want to say as much as I understand what you are saying about wanting your hair to be like it was when you were a child.., unfortunately it will never be. As we age our hair changes, plus the chemical process is what kills it. I was a stylist for 25 years (and had my own shop) and I saw first hand how hair changes over a persons life. So many products help keep it healthy and strong, but no matter what if you have over processed nothing will work but to cut it. You can disguise damage but once it’s done, it’s done. You are so beautiful Lisa! I hope you find what pleases you and your hair journey makes you happy again❤
Lisa, CONDITIONER is the very best thing to remove coconut or any type of oil from your hair. That’s why the Redken product worked for you. But you don’t have to spend that kind of money on a product to remove oil- in fact, the cheap-o suave or V05 works wonders and then you use your good stuff to condition after. So, when your ready to remove the oil, don’t wet it, just glob on the conditioner, glob a LOT, work it in like you’re shampooing, THEN rinse really well. You can follow with a shampoo or not. Just give it a try to see how your hair responds. I learned this tip years ago on the Long Hair Community site. Not sure it’s still up and running but lots of long hair lovers on there. Another technique you may love is the condition-wash-condition method. Wet your hair and apply conditioner then rinse. Then shampoo, rinse and apply conditioner as usual. This will help detangle and prepare your fragile hair for the cleansing of the shampoo. Helps it withstand the friction and tugging easier.
This is really good! I agree that to be content is the best policy. Once a person "gets it right," to be content and hold that style and color. It's just too hard to fix it when it goes wrong.
Thank you for being an adult and taking personal responsibility for your color decisions. We as stylists do what our clients ask ( unless it's totally crazy). We do trust and assume our clients have thought through their color/ cut choices. It is disheartening when clients decide to blame the stylist instead of owning their choices. As far as color damage..... any color with ammonia can and should be expected to cause damage...... that damage with in reason why people have volume in their hair. To much damage is just that..... damage.
I've also been on a hair recovery journey after taking out my extensions. I've started using the colleen rothschild mask too and love it. Good luck on your journey.
Dear Lisa, if I may say something as someone your age and with damaged hair too. I love highlights and of course I do roots to cover greys but in my humble opinion it might not be your external damage, meaning coloring. I believe it has a lot to do with hormones and us being in menopause era. I've experienced lots of thinning , the only thing that has helped me is using less heat and accepting that I won't have thick hair anymore, I also like a cut without layers . Wishing you all the best in getting back your hair to the point you liked ❤
The best decision I made was to let my natural gray hair grow out. I was born with very dark brown hair and always had long straight hair that was super healthy and everyone knew me by my hair. My sister was diagnosed with cancer and I began to really worry about all of the chemicals that had to sit on my hair for longer than they were tested for as my gray hair was resistant. I was 59 when I decided to let it grow out. I loved the growing out experience as well. I do miss my dark hair, but its gone forever…no more chemicals for me. I now love my hair again and surprisingly get so many compliments on it. A young girl shouted me down the other day and asked me if my hair was my natural color and just kept going on about much she loved it. It surprises me every time it happens. I think the key is having healthy shiny hair. Healthy hair in any color is gorgeous!
Same here. I always had long dark hair and I’m 57 and was finding myself coloring my roots every couple of weeks and being a cosmetologist i know what the chemicals can do so i let my natural color grow. And it is the most freeing i have ever felt. Also i am so blessed with the best silver streak that people ask if its colored that way
Hi Lisa, after I had Covid in November my hair was coming out like crazy and looked awful. Whenever there is something traumatic that happens to you it does affect your hair. Like you said hair is very important to women, I always had great hair and it was my thing.
Do not listen to rude people who make rude comments about your hair. I know your hair is not how you want it at the moment but honestly it still looks great to me. Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
Lisa, I have had long hair most of my life, my hair was truly my "signature look" to everyone. A few years ago I had major breakage on one side of my hair (no idea why) and in order to save my hair I cut it and let it grow out naturally (4 years) My hair has been colored since 19. I felt it look to drab and so I went back to coloring it... big mistake. It was good for 2 years and then due to one overlapping I had to get the "chop" blunt above the shoulders and to my surprise I discovered the entire crown had breakage and within 2 wks. I see breakage in other areas, even on top. I had to order clip on bangs in case the front breaks more. I was in shock realizing I can't color it again. For the entegrity of my hair I have to go through another long "cold turkey" process. Listening to your story and your calm voice is just what I needed today. What you said about you would prefer to have long brown hair then short hair, that's my way of thinking too. In some of your videos I can relate to you and your style. Today I am going to become your 174K subscriber. All the best to you in your hair journey! wink :) ps I was a licensed hairstylist. What I was taught so many years ago I do believe is true, the best for damaged hair is with sheers. I was going to go for some of the products you are using but aside from oil, I am not doing treatments. Hair is mostly protein.....what I need is moisture and perhaps you too. I do believe one can have keratin overload......all the best to you & your subscribers.
Hair always will grow out but it takes time, that's the frustrating part. I'm seeing the comments below about COVID and it's so true. I had covid in 2020 and boy did I lose so much hair. It was awful. I felt breezes on my scalp that bad. You look amazing with shorter hair via the pic you had. Just take care , take vitamins and Vegamour was really good for me. Some hair growth back. Now I have my hair again and am so happy.
Hi Lisa. I’ve been watching your videos for years and I love them! 5 years ago I had breast cancer and then lost all my hair to chemo. I had gorgeous bleach blonde hair when I lost it. It was rough. It took 3 years to grow out to its old length again. Being a brunette I decided to highlight it last summer. Unfortunately a lot fell out! Although I’m not happy about it I know that it’ll grow back. We’re all beautiful ❤ You’re still gorgeous!
Thank you for your vulnerability and being able to talk honestly. I’ve been struggling with my bleached hair for the past two years. Hopefully it’ll outgrow to my regular volume. Good luck
Beautiful Lisa!! I’m close to your age, I’m 54….long blonde hair also! I too, want to keep my hair long, blonde & healthy!! And I too, have made mistakes….. it’s definitely a snowball affect when you start getting obsessive and making “mistakes”!! I’ve been there…. and cried buckets until I’ve gotten it back to a good state!! I’ve shown your hair to my stylist, who is one of my best friends and has been doing my hair for 25 years….I’m fortunate because as I’ve gone through menopause and my hair has changed tremendously in color & texture….. she will tell me “no” at times….and while I may get upset in the moment, I know she loves me, knows my hair and truly knows what I want my hair to look like! So if I can say anything, trust Morgan and be patient …. you are beautiful, your hair is beautiful….stay focused on healthy hair….you’ll get to your perfect hair place soon! HUGS!
Hi Lisa I lived this nightmare 3 years ago! Went back to dark brown hair, did no poo for 6 months, no heat for 2 years, argan oil on ends twice a day, brushed once a day. Less is more !!! Time heals all wounds lovely lady. God bless you 🥰
I have bleached my hair to literally white and I found that the living proof bonding treatment made my hair so dull and hard to brush just like using k18 by itself But I found that going back to the tried and true joico kpak was a savior!! So now I do the a mask after using k18 and I love it now! Also matrix instacure leave in spray!! Holy GRAIL !! kerastase recently came out with a new repair line in a sliver bottle so during the spring sale I will be trying ALL OF IT ❤❤❤ you’ll get your hair back mama! You’ve come back from worse! I believe in you!
Hi darling beautiful Lisa, I am 60 going on 40 and completely understand how you feel. Hair is our crown and glory. Been there. Great long hair is my life! I have been using Joico luster color conditioner repair and shine. Amazing. No more fads. Once a year highlights good base alwaysl. Long hair with face framing. Simple. You are right on about over layers. Thinned out my hair. Not anymore. Best of luck gorgeous.
I am 60 years old and have long blonde hair ( the top is about 80-90 % gray, and underneath it is still dark ). I get a single color all over , light blond . Once in a while a few lowlights or highlights depending what’s going on . This is what I do to keep it healthy, and believe me I was in your situation before. I do not blow dry my hair anymore it’s mostly air drying. When it’s dry , I put medium and large Velcro rollers , and then use a little bit dryer to make it warm and I sit in those rollers and watch a show . When you take them out hair looks beautiful. No more curling irons . Mask every other wash .
Thank you so this! Omg, the way you obsess about your hair makes me feel so much better about just getting extensions and moving on from it. I love them, and I don’t feel bad about a thing. If it makes me feel better about myself and I don’t think “I’ve done something wrong” like your feeling? It’s a waste of time and more importantly energy!!! Extensions today are a part of life. Welcome to 2024! Some of us have strong hair, some weak. It’s all genetics! Who cares?
I am 100% the same as you. Age , hair color naturally and a single process color with a few highlights maybe once a year in fall if needed. I have finer hair but a decent amount. Not really drying it and Velcro rollers. They are so good for not damaging our hair and keeping some length. Highly recommend the rollers like you with a hit of warmth and just leave them in. Stopped washing more than 1-2 times a week also. 😂 Healthy hair at 60 is achievable. Interested in hair products you like .
I also do something similar, but I use the old fashioned hard curlers because velcro pulls my hair... I will touch it up in the morning sometime with a curling iron on temp 260 and my hair is thanking me for not frying it ❤
I’ve lost a scary amount of hair due to testosterone pellets! I’ve started a strict MONAT regimen since the beginning of December and my family is noticing that my hair is getting thicker/fuller on the top. My hair was super long before and it’s about a foot shorter than it used to be…and I haven’t even had a haircut so I’m excited to see the results. Believe me, my heart goes out to you- I hope you reach your hair goals fast!! Xoxo Melody
I had the same problem Lisa and I decided to do a darker root smudge blended down into the lighter blond highlights because I noticed the breakage on the top of my hair from the bleach. It has worked to make the top of my hair softer and silkier. I will probably go back to lighter all over eventually but the top layer really needed a rest from the bleach...and the gentler semi permanent color on the top did the trick.
Thank you lisa for the update recovery Your on the right path method to repair and keep hair healthy looking. And Yes the highlight mention to lighten, and also easier to treat. I'm going to try the Lanza Healing oil, sounds amazing. I also recommend you try organic castor oil for the most damaged hair, just a little helps so much, I use it at night it really revives the hair. And yes your hair is so pretty..
I understand the issue.... i experienced it with my eyelashes. Ive always had long dark lashes... i decided they needed to be longer. I got lash ext. Big Mistake, my real lashes broke off. I cried and cried and was so regretful and kept thinking why werent my long lashes everyone wanted..... i wanted Even better. Weve got to stop comparing ourselves and thinking someones hair is better, someones lashes are better etc. It can go on and on. I am so thankful for lash serum!!! There is hope, lets be happy with what weve got, what looks good on someone else just might not look good on us
You are a beautiful LADY inside and out …. Your hair will repair… I learned from my own experience OIL AT THE ENDS IS MIRACLE ….regardless you are a VERY SMART LADY … and you know what to DO!!! Happy HEALTHY HAIR JOURNEY TO YOU!!! Much love, Patricia
Goodness, you have really been going through it! I quit coloring my hair several years ago and find that, even in its natural state, the lower half of my hair color is different than the color near the roots, so I wouldn't let those color variations bother you too much. This too shall pass Miss Lisa😊🤗~TJ
❤Lisa, thank you for bringing us on this journey! Avout one year ago i burnt my hair while coloring it at home and brain injured, i FELL ASLEEP!!! L'Anza products and Briogeo avocado mask is what helped my blonde locks get heslthy again. I did cut what didnt fall off and had very short hair. I wish id been patient and done what youre going to do with small cuts. Oh, i also supplemented with Kerastase oil and Shea Moisture-Strengthen & Restore Leave-in Conditioner. I tried all yhe Redken products that were recommended at Ulta and they made my hair far worse than it was, didn't think it was possible!😅 i too didnt cor my hair as much, that definitely helps!!! ❤Blessings on growing back your gorgeous hair! It still look beautiful but i understand wanting your hair back to what it was.❤ God bless you!😊
Hi, Lisa. I love your videos. You present with such candor, and your channel is genuinely fashion-forward. I do not believe you were extra about your hair. It's a very traumatic circumstance. I, too, have long, colored hair and have had the same haircuts and colors. I'm currently growing out a choppy, layered haircut. No more splicing and slicing at the ends. I adore these two products: L'anza Hearling ColourCare and Gisou honey-infused hair oil. I like this oil over Kerastase/Elixir Ultime and Olaplex No. 7. I just tried K18, I am undecided on this product. Best, Maria
You’re so beautiful, Lisa!! I am 51 and have been using Monat for almost 5 years. Their Rejuveniuqe oil is the goat of hair oils and SCALP help! I have also been using their IR Clinical serum for over 6 months and my hair is the longest, healthiest it’s ever been (just below my bust). I’ve had one person recently if I had extensions. I will never use any other brand on my hair. I color my roots every 4 weeks and get a highlight on my crown about every 4-5 months. 🥰
I think I've seen in other videos where you just air dried your hair, and I thought it looked absolutely beautiful just like that. The fewer styling tools and less heat you use would have to be best for your hair. It sounds like you have a good gameplan in place, and I agree with you 100% that if having brown hair is best for the health of your hair, then that's the way to go. You'd look wonderful with brown hair, too!
I am MUCH older than you but started growing my short hair out to silver 4 years ago. So, I am not concerned with color damage and switched to a Zuvi dryer. Still, I struggle with breakage and periodic hair loss. BUT, I love my new long hair length. My ends get a bit shaggy and require a 1/2" trim as needed. My hair is both fine and now thin. However I still feel good when I pull it all back with my tail starting at the nape on the left, draping over my left shoulder. Using a silk hair tie helps. Good luck in your Hair recovery. Abby Yung has great information. Her coconut oil soak before washing is great to prevent damaged ends.
For those whose hair is shedding, feeling brittle, etc., try pumpkin seed oil. It's a miracle, honestly. I am 56 and my hair was always fine, but thick, but I noticed increased shedding. This stuff not only makes your hair incredibly healthy, it regrows it...Been using it for about a year now... I use the organic stuff on Amazon for 14.99. A few hours before I was, I reub a few drops into my scalp. It's amazing...Lisa, give it a try.
Lisa, I have very fine, Scandinavian hair and have been really surprised and happy with the effect *Drunk Elephant's Silkamino Mega-Moisturizing Masker* has had on my overprocessed (overbleached!) hair. K18 and Olaplex and all they other usual recommendations for damaged hair were either too heavy or just didn't do anything for my hair but DE's mask made my hair feel nourished and strong while also ensuring good hair days. YMMW but just thought I'd share. Good luck on your hair journey regardless. x
Hi Lisa, I totally resonate with you. My bleached hair is severely damaged to the point I have a mullet!!! My crown is totally broken to 2-4" length. I've gone back to brunette and now I'm desperately trying to repair it Please be careful with the k18 because I think I overused it and it caused more breakage due to drying my hair out too much. Masking is the way to go. Please also make sure that strand dries once you put the heat protectant on before you wand it or iron it - never style a wet strand with heat tools. Thank you for sharing your tips! xoxo
Lisa I can't thank you enough for sharing the importance of how we feel about our hair. My hair is very similar to yours. Very fine and easily damaged. I've been using your advice for the last 5 or 6 months to help mine grow longer and healthier.. so far so good. Thanks again for sharing!
Hey Lisa, I totally commiserate with your hair struggles. I finally reached a point where I wanted long healthy hair again and I decided to embrace to white hair I was trying to disguise with blonde. It was a JOURNEY and took a couple of years to grow hair I felt good about. Now 4 years later I have LONG healthy salt and pepper hair that gets complimented all day long. I have more men telling me I'm beautiful (at 34 years old) than ever before. I told my husband that I think I could be a hair model for the first time in my life. I guess my message here to anyone is to embrace what beings you joy. For me coloring and bleaching was expensive and brought me down. My grey hair journey was a challenge that even my family questioned and now they see my joy. I kept a promise to myself and here I am! Anyway I want you to feel joy with your hair. I love you and your message always. Thanks for being real with us! P.s. I ordered my Erin Fader wolf ring today and I'm SO excited. Love you ❤
As a fellow blonde (natural as a child) I too am experiencing this very same problem! Breakage , shredding, shedding, thinning, post menopausal stuf! The funny thing is that I hardly color it; usually just once every 12 weeks for the base. Once every 6 months for the highlights, maybe annually for the lowlights. This is the aging process! To have long hair, we must eat protein, we do! We have to use good products; personally, I believe in the oils! I want to find a protein treatment without Keratin. Lisa, as much as you are troubled by your hair, it still lovely. It will eventually comeback to health as it dors grow faster in the spring/ summer.
Lisa, I have had similar experience and I feel you. Like you said,I was the most disappointed at myself for my own decisions when you know the outcome at the end. I have tried everything these two years. Let me tell you what will save your hair. First, Pureology shampoo and conditioner these are the most hydrating on the market. I swear nothing compares to them.Second, except the Kerastase oil I love the Maroccan oil ( heavy one). And the most important the Pureology leave in conditioner. Nothing on the market beats this product. Your hair will be hydrated and shiny again. I try to not use flat iron too. Btw you look amazing♥️
Lisa, thank you for taking us on your hair journey on getting your hair back to health again. I feel that my hair is very damaged as it gets so tangled when I wash my hair even with using Colleen Rothchild's hair products. I get balayage about every 4-5 month, with root coloring every month. I have never pre-treated my hair with oils so I look forward to seeing if pre-treating with different oils makes a difference?
So true! Your hair looks best only 2 shades from when you were a child! I just went back to medium brown and people said I look younger than when I highlighted to a dark blonde! Too many women go to light!!! Go to bed with cooking coconut oil in hair on ends and use a fabric hair band! Just wash you pillow case, it’s worth it!
I have been coloring since I graduated high school in 1981. Blonde for 20 years and then went red. I stopped coloring 1 year ago and I'm halfway there. LOL. I am READY to embrace ALL THAT GRAY!! My mom had beautiful white hair. I hope I do....
Yep, I lost like 70% of my hair starting 3 months after a really bad bout of Covid. It literally continued to fall out for about 4 months. I looked like I was going thru chemo, it was that bad. I was devastated to say the least! My hair was longer and the most beautiful it had ever been. It’s now growing back but I have 3 inches of crazy hair all over my head. I’m just thankful it’s growing back!!!
@@Miki_Lynn it’s insane!!! And then your hair starts to come back in and the ends are so thin and then I felt like every three months I would have shedding again my hair two years later is finally not shedding as much. I still have to keep it short to get rid of the thinn ends.
It happened to me too, give your hair some time, allow the outgrowth to happen then blend, you may be very surprised on how youthful/natural it will look,❤your a beauty!!!
yes It happened to me too.... I lost so much hair. I would say a good 65-70% and not only did it fall out and shed, but it broke and it became extremely dry as well. Hair vitamins helped immensely !!
It often happens after going through a tough infection/virus or flue. Partly it's the fever causing it, the metabolism speeds up and with that the comes hair shedding. It comes later on, because hair grows in phases, and when the shedding starts, your hair is already in a new healthy phase again, the shedding is from that earlier phase when you had the flue or such.
Not advice, just an opinion: below collarbone length wavy blunt edge super long bob and grow out from there. That blunt edge will give you an instant thickness boost. And yes, covid hurt my hair for a while.
I agree about the flat iron. Also the bleach really weakens my hair. I didn’t bleach my hair over Covid 😷 period for over a year and my hair was (grey!) much thicker and healthier.
Hi Lisa! I can totally relate to everything you said about how hair makes one feel. A few years ago, my hair was damaged as well. Between hormones, stress, extensions, not using the right protective products etc. it was such a mess that I was forced to cut it up to my shoulders. I felt so naked, and I cried for days. Today I have long hair (not quite as long as yours) and it’s way healthier. Here is the routine I follow: 1) I use Epres bond repair treatment. It can be sprayed on dry, dirty hair prior to washing. I saturate my hair from ears down, pin it up and leave it for at least 10 minutes (per Epres recommendation) or longer. You can then add (after the initial 10 minutes) a coconut oil-based product like the one from OGX and leave everything on for a good half hour then wash your hair. The coconut oil helps your strands from absorbing too much water - which can damage your strands. In the beginning I used Epres once a week. Now I use it when I feel my hair getting a bit more dry or it looks a bit ragged. 2) I use a clarifying shampoo (and no conditioner) on days when I use the K18 (hated Olaplex - it did nothing for my hair). When I first started to heal my hair I used the K18 for the initial 6 washes (per K18’s recommendation). Now I use K18 every 2 weeks or once a month. You can apply all your regular styling products after the 4 minutes right over the K18 (do not rinse the K18). 3) On the days when I am not using K18 I still use a bond treatment. I shampoo and condition my hair then I apply the Living Proof Triple Bond Complex from the ears down. This you leave on for 10 minutes and then apply whatever styling products you choose. 4) I always use a heat protectant spray, leave in conditioner type, then mousse or whatever other styling product. I use the Laifen hair dryer which dries your hair using less heat and it’s ionic. I only wash my hair 2x per week. 5) The heat protectant I use when I curl my dry hair (I use the Bio Ionic curling iron) is the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day heat styling spray. It is the ONLY spray I found that does not dry my hair out - and I have tried way too many. You can also try the one from Moroccan Oil - this one was a bit too heavy for my hair. 6) As for oils I do love the Kerastase (to put in my wet hair before drying) and for something a bit lighter for the in between days I use the Kenra Moisturizing oil. So sorry I wrote a book but I feel your pain so I thought I would share my journey and how I managed to repair and grow healthier hair. It’s not perfect. It never will be but it’s so much better than it was. Much love!
Lisa, Your hair looks very beautiful! I love the pale brown that contrasts with the light pieces. The platinum ColorWow looks great! I swear by K18. That stuff is a magic potion! On the other hand, as much as I love them, those flat irons are treacherous. Good luck on this journey. Patience, Girl!
Hi Lisa! I am so sorry about the experience you have had with your hair! 🥺 I think your hair right now is looking absolutely stunning 😍 please only follow close instructions with the K18. I heard another TH-camr who also loved it, starting using it too much as she was amazed by the silky healthy results. BUT overuse causes major break off! She lost a big chunk of hair that just snapped off at the front! Honestly it was quite shocking 😢 thank you for sharing your hair journey. Good luck and much love from the UK xxx
You posted a video several months ago and you said “your hair will grow if you don’t cut it”, or something very close to those words. Well I followed your recommendation and my hair now is just above my hips.. the longest it has been. It really was a simple statement but one I never thought about, just don’t cut it. It did try my patience but I am so happy I’ve hung in there! Your hair is gorgeous now and was before. But I get it, YOU have to love it! My point here, is don’t be hard on yourself and be patient. While we see your hair as beautiful, you will too again!!! ❤
My opinion: your hair has never looked more flattering! The layers around your face and the golden highlights make your features absolutely stunning. I saw an older post where you were wearing a totally taupe/beige outfit, the make up and hair were the best! As a practicing nurse for over 50 years your diet and recent illnesses could be one of culprits. Perhaps return to breakfast, add a little more back to diet. Enjoying your post’s tremendously!
Yes to that coconut oil!! The night before I wash (I also use vegamor bc I have lots of baby hairs receding- would love to try out nutrafol supplements) I do the ordinary peptides after that's a bit dry, then coconut oil and whatever oils I have, then clarify wash, do the k18 and the kerastase gloss (don't do if you like messy texture day) and your fav hair mask I'm gonna try some hibiscus powder too google it ❤❤❤ I can't wait to see the journey I think your head shape and hair would look lovely with smudge root in the front to cover orange I also found a rosemary water spray at Walmart I'm trying everything!!
A couple of things that help my hair from breakage is always use micro fiber towel after washing hair and sleep with silk scarf wrapped around head or silk pillow case. These things will not rough up the hair cuticles. Also a good deep conditioning treatment for 20 minutes with a heated (not hot) hair cap. It's like a shower cap but insulated. The warmth will allow the treatment to go into the hair cuticle and help with frizz and breakage.
I think the bottom half your hair is very pretty color. It isn’t as harsh as the yellow, but it still adds a little bit of warmth to your very blonde hair. ❤❤❤
I’m the same way about my hair Lisa. I get it. Please be careful with the k18 as it’s not meant to be used alone without the in salon treatment. Look into armra , I started that a year ago and it has dramatically thickened my hair. Also try the ergo brushes, excellent for damaged hair. The paddle brush.
Have you tried the Redken Acidic Bonding line? I switched to that after using Olaplex and love it so much better! Has made my dry hair so much healthier. I also use k18 every few weeks.
Hi Lisa, If I can suggest something 1 thing, please try a non drying purple shampoo for the front part. It just needs to be toned right there, and it will give better results than the product you showed. Best of luck to you
Hi Lisa, I think I may have been one who suggested to try to shampoo it out and I am so glad you told us about why this can be a very bad idea. I think you have a good plan of action along with a dose of patience. That all said, your hair still looks lovely to me! I do not see the damage you can feel and I bet few people would ever say you had a head-full of damaged hair. I told you my story about the red hair incident and most of us can relate to doing something with our hair we later regret. The distress is very real and we should never minimize it as it is very much a part of who we are as women, I feel. Thank you for your updated video on your hair! oxJulia
Lisa, I love length too and want to keep it, it takes time, much patience and practice, it can seem daunting but you will get through it. You are right, you don’t need to over wash, it can dry out the ends but scalp health is real important, people forget the scalp is skin too and needs to be cleansed and moisturized well. One thing I would say is figure out your hair density if you haven’t yet done so and use products accordingly. Also I have dark hair so every week for 1/2 hour I go sit by the window or a white wall & hold up sections of my hair to see if there are any split ends and trim those. Hope this is helpful ❤
Lisa, I have been with you from the very beginning through every hairstyle, color & cut! And over the last few years when your hair has been waist, lengh and Beachy blonde better than any 20 year old's! I thought to myself you seriously have the most beautiful hair of anyone on TH-cam because it was all yours! Not extensions like most TH-camrs and woman on TV. I could not believe how beautiful you took it from the time I start watching. But I know exactly what you're going through because all of us make mistakes along the way with our hair, BUT Your mistake isn't as bad as you think, Your hair is still beautiful. I know you see and feel it, and we don't and you want it back exactly the way it was, and you will, I know it will be right back in no time...probably better knowing your dedication!💕⛱️😘
I’ve been considering going back to highlights but this video has me rethinking it. For hair oil I like bumble bumble, I’ve tried others and come back to it. I have course full curly wavy hair, it may be too heavy for some.
I would just cut it, Lisa you clearly can afford to get extension and they are a lot better right now if you’re attached to long hair which I understand but I wouldn’t touch it again especially color and heat
Hi, Lisa! I really feel your pain. I’ve been in the same situation. My hair was burnt back in 2019 in the beginning of the year. Now it’s 2024 and my hair almost looks like before. I tried a lot over this years. So, don’t use olaplex 3, it’s not gonna do anything good. But I love olaplex oil and heat protectant. Try k18, that’s what I’ve been using and I think it’s really helped. I also use collagen in pink bottle from Costco, it’s really good, and I see my hair growing like crazy. Also I switched back to Monat shampoo, masks, conditioner and damage hair live in. That is what helped me. Finally after all this years, I getting happy with my hair again.
Ma’am…. It is SO much easier said than done but I really hope you can let people’s criticism of your hair color roll off your back! There has NEVER been a video where I saw you and thought you/ your hair/ your heart were anything but so so beautiful! If you want to let your roots grow and only do your highlights every 3-4 times? You do you boo boo!! 🥰💯
Shu Uemura ultimate reset extreme repair hair mask! I have used everything known to man and you will absolutely love it! I would recommend the whole ultimate reset line it amazing.
I have done well with babying my hair. I only do highlights when I truly feel like I need it for dimension. I just sprinkle it in with my regular hair. The last time I did a partial tons of my hair broke off. Ugg!!! Also I get a quarter of an inch cut every 6 weeks. I will never just cut it off.
I came to your channel after watching your interview on Carnivore, and I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed your content. I have only been Carnivore for about three months and I liked your sensible approach and love your style. I have lost 20 but have a long way to go about 45 more, and you are my inspiration. I want to be able to wear those cute clothes and feel pretty again.
Love your hair video's!! I'm going through breakage, thinning and I have baby fine hair! I would love to hear what works for you in your hair care journey
Truss amino protection is the best! My hair was in bad shape and this line of products changed it. A new stylist suggested it and I’m so happy she did.
Lisa, this color hair looks so good on you!!!!!! I like it better than the all blonde. Honestly,!! But those orange sections in front, yes, need help. But this warm blonde....i love it!!!!
I completely transformed my horribly damaged platinum blonde shoulder length hair into long thick natural brown by completely cutting out all color treatments. It took two years but I embraced a balayage look while the color grew out and got cut. I also think the Oribe gold lust helped! Embrace your natural as much as possible!
Lisa I’m having he same issues. I’m 53 color my hair blond. I recently got extensions. I’m loving them, but the maintenance is driving me nuts. Honestly I have thought about cutting it shoulder length. I can tell I’m starting to get some grey hair in my front
Lisa, I think you have gorgeous hair but I get it. My hair is a long as yours but dark with no bangs, hardly any layers at all. I went through so much trauma with hair a few years back when I was taking hormone replacement therapy, I about lost my hair. It became so thin and breakage. My hairdresser of 30 years begged me to try Monat hair care clean products and it only took a few months to start seeing a huge difference. I also take collagen and biotin daily. You and I been at the same place with our hair for different reasons. I agree with your statement about keeping away from trends and staying classic. Don't panic. Take care of the blonde locks and you will come out of this better than ever. Take care! Love your videos. DONT CUT YOUR HAIR. It's still gorgeous.
100% agree with your plan. I am the same way and have done that plan myself. The stylist I went to was one time only. She made me look like Tony the Tiger from Kelloggs Corn flakes. I cried so hard. I had to dye it dark to override those stripes. That was so awful! Good luck, it will work!
Hi Lisa. Why did you decide not to go back to the Monat products? I feel like that’s what you were using when you decided to stop using extensions. Thanks for this video!
Every thing you said is so true! I have processed hair to the middle of my back, that I LOVED, until I decided to get layers. Ever since, my hair has looked like crap. Thanks for all of the tips

I love your content and your hair looks amazing
Can I ask where you got your large cat eye sunglasses? They are so my style ❤
Cancer, chemotherapy & complete hair loss has helped me put hair style in perspective.
Amen!
real life problems
I hope your health journey is going in a positive direction for you ❤
Amen sister. Try pulling out tufts of hair 12 days after chemo and waiting months to not look like a boy. Now I’m free of the beauty industry telling me it’s better to be blond or whatever.
Health problems puts all our daily little worries in perspective . Hoping you are feeling better Kelly 🙏🏼
Anti-snap leave in cream or spray? I lost most of my hair from COVID so trying to keep what I have. TY
I’ll be buying the redken today! Thank you for mentioning it!
Hi Lisa
I just want to say as much as I understand what you are saying about wanting your hair to be like it was when you were a child.., unfortunately it will never be.
Lisa, at 14:42 you showed an insert of your hair that appeared to be shoulder length,; that was gorgeous on you!
It really is beautiful! When was that?
So beautiful in that thumbnail!
@@privatename3942that’s just rude.
I love your hair shoulder length! But I know you have to do what makes you feel good!
I LOVED Lisa's hair when it was shoulder length!!
Lisa I use an extra large velvet scrunchie to put my hair up loosely at night. Doesn't crimp or cause any damage.
Jill, same here!
Same, except I use a satin one
A silk scrunched could also work wonders.😊😊😊
On the night of my freshly washed and electric roller set morning hair, by using a velvet scrunchie at night keeps my curl and bounce perfect
And I wish from going through cancer women would not have such an emotional attachment to their hair.
See why r we all so discontent with their hair?
Thank you for being an adult and taking personal responsibility for your color decisions. We as stylists do what our clients ask ( unless it's totally crazy). We do trust and assume our clients have thought through their color/ cut choices. It is disheartening when clients decide to blame the stylist instead of owning their choices. As far as color damage..... any color with ammonia can and should be expected to cause damage...... that damage with in reason why people have volume in their hair. To much damage is just that..... damage.
100% colour does damage. My hair has never looked better since I let it go silver with natural dark streaks underneath. I love my long hair now!
Flat irons can definitely cause breakage on bleached hair....even heat protector is no guarantee with double process color. Hairdresser here.
I've also been on a hair recovery journey after taking out my extensions. I've started using the colleen rothschild mask too and love it. Good luck on your journey.
Women are more than their hair. We are confident and strong no matter what!
Also i am so blessed with the best silver streak that people ask if its colored that way
Hey Lisa, You are so right about layers weakening the whole. You look fantastic. I wish my hair was half as good as yours. xx
Hi Lisa, after I had Covid in November my hair was coming out like crazy and looked awful. Whenever there is something traumatic that happens to you it does affect your hair. Like you said hair is very important to women, I always had great hair and it was my thing.
Yes. A friend of mine is a hair stylist and C caused her to lose over half her hair. It’s crazy.
Thank you so much!! I am feeling much better now!! 😊😘
Agree, the Joico kpak is the best!
The Redken Extreme Anti-Snap Treatment is really good especially to use round the front of the face x
I can't believe you are still complaining about your hair. It's fine
Be nice or don’t watch.
Hi darling beautiful Lisa,
I am 60 going on 40 and completely understand how you feel.
Live Velcro rollers but they break my hair. Be sure to check yours for breakage!
Your hair will repair…
I learned from my own experience OIL AT THE ENDS IS MIRACLE ….regardless you are a VERY SMART LADY … and you know what to DO!!!
Happy HEALTHY HAIR JOURNEY TO YOU!!!
Much love,
Patricia
I’ve recently brought K18 and wow, my hair has never felt and looked so healthy….it’s definitely a game changer for me. Lots of love xx
I’m a hairdresser (7.5 yrs) castor oil ladies -do your research but it’s aGAMECHANGER!!!! Hair growth, hair shine, softness, & etc….
Thank you for your advice. Does that work for men's hair as well? My son is 32 with thinning hair and most repair shampoos burn his scalp. Thanks
Good luck on your hair journey regardless. x
You have a good plan and you are so blessed to have such beautiful hair!!!
Hey Lisa,
I totally commiserate with your hair struggles.
Love you ❤
I’ve had GREAT results with K18 and the length of my hair. Feels so good every every treatment 🥰
Good job Lisa, you have done your homework and are leaning into what worked for your hair in the past. Appreciate this video very much.
Lisa, I totally get being inspired by someone else’s hair but your hair has been my inspiration for years! I love your hair!!! ❤
I did the exact thing, and I can’t wait until these layers grow out!
Have you had Covid before? My hair was as long as yours & starting falling out 3 months post Covid!! I’d suggest taking hair vitamins 🙌
I would consult TH-cam's "The Blowout Professor" and do whatever he says. His suggestions have nursed my hair back to health.
😊 that's a great channel. My hair went from shoulder length and damaged to waist length and soft. All due to his directions.
Extensions ripped out my hair- after only 4 weeks!!!. I had to cut it to my chin. Now I will keep and enjoy my short hair forever lol
That hair powder looks so good ! I even thought you had gotten that part fixed! I’m here for all the hair tips thanks so much !
Here is the routine I follow:
1) I use Epres bond repair treatment.
Much love!
I had ruined my hair too! I found Abby Yung here on TH-cam, and after a year, I have the healthiest hair of my life!
The night before I wash (I also use vegamor bc I have lots of baby hairs receding- would love to try out nutrafol supplements)
I do the ordinary peptides after that's a bit dry, then coconut oil and whatever oils I have, then clarify wash, do the k18 and the kerastase gloss (don't do if you like messy texture day) and your fav hair mask I'm gonna try some hibiscus powder too google it ❤❤❤ I can't wait to see the journey I think your head shape and hair would look lovely with smudge root in the front to cover orange I also found a rosemary water spray at Walmart I'm trying everything!!
I love the layers in your hair. Beautiful inside and out ❤
Thank you Lisa!! Great info! Love ya, Cindy 💗🌻
Love your hair video's!! I'm going through breakage, thinning and I have baby fine hair! I would love to hear what works for you in your hair care journey
Truss amino protection is the best! My hair was in bad shape and this line of products changed it. A new stylist suggested it and I’m so happy she did.
I love the K18 leave in conditioner and have used it for a year. It’s enabled me to grow long healthy hair.
I like the color now. Too blond can damage hair and I think the color contrast now is beautiful💕
I think your hair looks fantastic. The color, cut and texture are very becoming. It looks natural.
Yes!!! 🙌
Every thing you said is so true! I have processed hair to the middle of my back, that I LOVED, until I decided to get layers. Ever since, my hair has looked like crap. Thanks for all of the tips
