Damn I gotta give you props for handling with the physics engine, I myself am used to them too but also am researching the game's physics while doing so, as it seems the STEER mechanic that's in the game is tied to drift mechanic in some certain circumstances, not to mention the Auto-Countersteer the game has with it too. All in all it's a good game but once you do master it about this level you do get more enjoyment seeing someone like this actually approach it this way, at least that's the way I felt with the game. The customization, the vinyls themselves, etc it's just underrated.
Yeah its definitely a good game once you sit down and take the time to learn the physics. I've learned that you dont really need to add any mods to the car to perform smooth drifts if anything I recommend as little as possible imo. Think majority of my cars hovered around 300hp with level 1 engine parts and drivetrain related stuff maxed. Also noticed the game reacts well with slow in to the turn with a slight flick to initiate the drift.

Hey man, can you give me some general tips when it comes to drifting in this game? I found two way to reliably drift in this game, one is to initiate the drift only by steering and not accelerate at all. I beat most of the easier touge drift with an Integra this way because I couldnt bear holding a drift when I replay this game after so long lol. On the tighter Suicide Mountain one the most reliable it seems is to only initate the drift halfway into a hairpin, that way when the physics decide to not give you lateral grip you still have a straight road at the end of the hairpin to correct the drift and get more points when doing do. I really dont know ow Eutechnyx managed to ship the game in this state. I really hate how braking hard causes you to go into a drift, heck even when not steering the car wiggles left and right when hard braking. It makes those wangan exits hell to drive. Dont get me started when the physic doesnt give you lateral grip when you drift around the corner and forces your car into the outer wall, I hate when that happen and it's very unpredictable. Hence why I used that Integra accel-off technique lol Not even the AI can handle the touges both grip battle and drift battle with these physics. The Skyline 25tt Grip Battle does not like Suicide Mountain, always wallriding lol. I cant count how many times the AI spun out when doing drift battle at the tighter track and managed to cheat more points this way. I always keep close proximinity to the AI as to not magically score 3k this way. Im getting offtrack, so can you show me some general tips on how to drift? Especially at that hairpin in the Tunnel fighting Alden. I always hated that turn both grip and drift lol. Not even you can drift that hairpin without bumping the inner wall EDIT: I notice how you rarely brake long enough before the car wiggles. And you rely more on brake tapping and coasting to slow down. I do the same thing too, braking is just unreliable lol. In most game if you hard brake the worst thing that can happen is the wheel locking up and understeering (Flatout2 and WRC:RE for example). In this game it's the opposite lol. If I have to hard brake I have to do it very early before a corner to minimize the car going into a drift, as it's very annoying to correct that drift when it does happen.
Haha I appreciate the long write up, this must of took some time. Tips, its hard to explain. I agree with you there is a lot of issues with the physics and I am by no means the best at it but I feel I have some understanding of how it works somewhat... I noticed that car upgrading plays a large role in this or the lack of needing too as making the cars too fast just ends up in a grip mess even when drifting. Would definitely tell you to start there, I know seems obvious but the less upgrades the easier the car is to control while drifting in this game. However I found some cars are just not good at drifting despite being rear wheel drive, can't tell you how many setups I tried using on a JZX100 but I just couldn't get that car to ride smooth or how I would like it too. The next issue I've noticed is sense of speed, the game doesn't really indicate this all too well. I tend to enter a turn slow in fast out to give the car some time to stabilize before I hop back into the wobbly mess of a physics engine lol. This helps a lot with the lateral grip problem you are referring too. Next advice I could give you is the way I enter the turn this one will give you that long sweeping slide that I get and to be honest it gives the car some stability some how I can't explain why but it does. If you have a look at how I approach I'll brakes before coming to the turn let it coast a little as you've notice and what you want to do is counter steer ever so slightly in the opposite direction of the turn and then you want to turn into the turn. From here depending on the car cause they all react different to this, but it works for most cars as this is what I've used in all my videos from there really you just throttle control. Some cars will let you sit on the throttle all the way through if you pointed the nose of the car in the right direction, some cars you need to get off the throttle and let it like slide coast and then get back on it to straighten it up or a mix of the two. **TL;DR - I do agree the braking can be a little jank in this game don't use it upon entry it will cause instability, try to brake well in advance coast to turn set up low speed and then use counter steer method and point the nose of the car at the apex as best as you can when completing your turn in! Hope this helps. If I had to recommend some cars that are great for drifting RX-7 FD3S does well with long sweep drifts and the Nissan Skyline 350GT/G35 is quick twitch for the smaller tracks and stable with good throttle control.**

Hi i suck at drifting and i only cause iam using emulator and using save state 😂 if i lose i just load the saved state where iam leading 😂 and i just oversteer most of the time. Is there any way to initiate a drift instantly ? The physics in this game is so annoying like the rally stages in gt 4. I often oversteer alot wherevthe car is facing the opposite direction.
Not sure what you mean by instantly, but the RX-7 and 350GT are pretty easy cars to drift compared to some of the other cars I've tried. The settings are in the description keep the power low and the car will have a hard time spinning on you.
@@Alecin_ if your fast and the furious game is the PAL one, yes there is no Honda iirc. If you have the case for the game check the corners of the front of the case think that's where you can see the region
The track that mimics the final race in Tokyo drift is a nightmare! Just last week I made it to this point in the game, needless to say I made up all my points by hitting the walls, and clutch kick spamming xD The roads are so narrow it's crazy. There is one point too in the midway point once the road straightens out for a bit where the cpu racks a whole bunch of points out of nowhere too. Still I very much enjoyed, and was filled with nostalgia playing again!
Yeah, the physics really don't support the narrow roads very well. I've noticed that as well, more so when I either get too far away from the cpu or he loses me his points just seem to sky rocket even though he drives like a maniac crashing. That's great to hear, despite the physics being somewhat terrible the game somehow is still enjoyable.
The thing from 24:10 to 24:12 is a common cheat tactic the last 3 racers use against you (Kenji, Daijiiro and Kazuya) in that they purposely crash into walls to spin out, then start doing donuts or Power-Over drifts in place multiple times to rack up those points. You can clearly see in the above time frame, the AI gets a whopping 3000+ points! My guess is that the devs decided to make the last few races challenging as some players might've cheesed out on these events and thought: 'This is too easy, the AI can't even catch up' in order to force you to do your best.

My drifting skills are poor. This is what we call a professional drifter. No single spin out😭😭

Thats odd, cause I have it. You don't need to complete any roll races, just beat all the crews. Its called S13 Pacific rim 240 in the robo garage.

IIRC if you aree playing the PAL region version of this game there is no NSX. You need the NTSC version of the game. Some one correct me if I'm wrong.
