    We dig all the Octavia playing,nice start to a killer video--cheers
    Edit: got me to pondering...still despising my own youthful ignorance,as I saw Stevie play twice in one day(with Jimmie and The Thunderbirds) and could not understand his rig set-up,even from mere feet away. He had all these cabinets surrounded by a plexiglass "box" with a mic inside--I could see a rotary speaker spinning. He intro'd with Say Wah with two wah pedals. I knew nothing,I played thru single tube amp/4-10 cab with reverb and used a wah and a distortion pedal. We did chat w Stevie before the second show--he was riding a motorized skateboard all around their bus and hotel parking lot,which blew our minds. Feb,1986

    Just what I needed today! Leave My Girl Alone was the first song I really learned to play and sound halfway decent when I was first learning, so brought back alot of memories! Beautiful playing, man, and thanks for enlightening us on the fuzz secrets!

    Cheers Nik brilliant video. I think Stevie Ray's sound in the late 1980s was definitely more him using a fuzz face to achieve his tone. I understand form reading about his rig that the Marshall major wasn't really used it was more for looks. The main engine of his tone was still the cranked fenders and Dumble amp EV speakers with the fuzz.
    I didn't catch what fuzz you were using in this video Nik but I'm looking into a pedal Pawn fuzz myself. Those guys seem to have a real pilgrimage going on with the SRV stuff.

    Cool vid Nik, always helpful!
    Working with a FuzzFace really is something to master all in itself from setup (especially the ones with more output) to controlling it!
    The modded ones with input impedance controls are really useful allowing you to turn your guitar volume at 10 to be at say at 9.x ish.
    I think that makes life a bit easier for certain situations, it seems to also make the guitar volume control more linear in response - those of us with clumsy strumming hands or loose pots can appreciate that!!
    Have you played around with a BoG style fuzz (3 transistor), very different feel but incredibly versatile!

    • @joshuajkoplin
      @joshuajkoplin ปีที่แล้ว

      In the ‘89 video you can see his Dumble Steel String Singer and his Marshall Major. I don’t think there were any Bassman reissues. Maybe he did, can you link me a resource or pic. Thanks man, I’d love to learn something new.

    • @joshuajkoplin

      In ‘83 he was using Super Reverbs and Vibroverbs. Idk even think there were Bassman Reissues when he was alive. I could be wrong though.

    Hey Nik important question: have you tried the 2022/2023 version of the kingtone duellist? With the "SRV" mod. I'd love to hear what you think about it because I'm considering buying a duellist and I would like your input on the differences between the regular one and the "new version"
