SMX should be the showcase of the sport. The venue should accommodate the needs of the fans. The race surface should be worthy of a playoff designation. That was subpar and needs to be addressed. The racing saved the event!
It was absolutely miserable in those stands. They won’t be getting my money ever again. Between them and the venue it sucked ass!!!! I feel bad for the riders to have to deal with Feld Entertainment.
BRING BACK MONSTERCUP. Not a Bs championship, great payouts, great showing, great tracks for racing. Loved the three race wager as well. Bring it back.
This race should have been at Atlanta Motor Speedway. They screwed us out of an SX and having the SMX there would have been perfect. Great weather this time of year with little chance of rain, great dirt when they keep it watered.
@traveler142 yes I do agree. But at the highest level there's no excuse for digging a hole out in the serengeti and saying that was their only option for dirt when they have more money than we can possibly imagine. If I went to a michelin star restaurant and ordered a pan seared duck, and they came out with a Pompeii fossil, my kids would see a side of me they wouldn't believe. But oh well on the next
@@Shipman37x pissing and moaning about how bad some tracks are is kinda useless... Isn't it...? can't or shouldn't expect groomed tracks every race... It is bad enough that you have some riders asking to take jumps out of the races. I say... give these Professional riders a challenge every now and again.
@traveler142 Yeah, you make a great point. I don't disagree, I can just relate to what Phil was saying in the video. I race every weekend, and seeing guys get wrecked sucks. As long as they take riders' thoughts into consideration when they are the ones putting in on the line for us to watch, thats where my thought process is. On that note, thank you for giving me a different way to view it. I'll go into this weekend with a wiser approach 🤙 Who you want to see win?
The Dirtwurx crew has stated multiple times that they need more time to prep the track to make it safer for the riders. Why is FELD prioritizing TV time over the safety of the riders?
Phil Nicoletti = Facts, Tile track sprayed with WD40 = gold standard comedy right there 🤣 Dirt speedway must have been from an ex dump! It used to be that Gary Bailey (I doubt there's been anyone better since) designed the SX tracks, then last was RC, he may still design Daytona! But Phil is 💯 you have non ex racers making tracks, why wasn't the dirt and facilities scouted out, and pre approved, who dropped that ball, as Phil says Dog and Pony show! This series is a great idea, but they 1: need to drop some regular SX rounds, at least 3 rounds (leave MX alone) And as Steve says SMX should be the best of both, the tracks and style should challenge teams and riders, but bad didn't and stadiums is not a challenge, as Phil says that's a DnP show, this is 2024 not 1924! Fans are paying money they deserve a show in best conditions as well for there money! Gonna miss Phil, hope he gets a gig as an ambassador for tracks and rider rights, he'd be awesome🤘 Peace out, good episode lads🤟
Feld does most things pretty well. But it is their fault. They are the boss, the funder, the promoter, the profiter. Ultimately it is their responsibility. Have a plan, check the contingencies, and make a premier show.
This is shitting on the sport. No matter what you lead with saying we don't want to shit on the sport. , These guys( Dirt Worx) should be doing some research on the dirt a year in advance before bringing it in. Having said that a local racer/ rider on your show knows the dirt. He alludes to Masterpool's place being the same crap. My feeling is this. I've been on and around this stuff for 52 years. Watched Timmy Ferr,y, Ricky Carmichealx and James Stewart grow up at the local series in FL. You grab the local guy ( Local shop Owner ) in the area and have the conversation about the local dirt mines and quality of the dirt. I don't know that they didn't. But I agree that the number of crashes is alarming. Logistics is a big deal, that's where the failure is, not in the desire to go out and throw the biggest racing in the World on. I could pick up the phone right now make a call to my local contractor and in a hour maybe two know where the best dirt is in my area. That's all I have for you guys. Lets see what Vegas brings us.
They should of had SMX in Baltimore city, that’s where I’m from. A lot of motocross enthusiasts. Mind you most of their bikes are stolen and riding on the street, but that was exactly how the track in Texas was, so only makes sense
I said the exact same thing when I got there. It looks like an Atlanta supercross with no whoops. I've been to the Atl one too. This track was sub par for SMX honestly. I was pumped when I saw the Charlotte one and flew all the way to Dallas for this one and qas disappointed at least on the track aspect. Still had fun though.
I think they should implement a pay up rule. If you get lapped you pay up everyone that laps ya. If you crash or bike blows up it doesnt count just if you try to finish the race
Well I'm surprised that anyone was shocked about the heat. It's North Texas and @95F it's actually a bit cooler than what we see during the summer. If the race could have been held in October then the heat wouldn't have been as a huge issue. Not sure what could be done about the dirt and no one is talking about it's composition and what made it bad. Example is there is a lot of Caliche soil in the area which could have been what was used on the track and I would doubt that this type of soil would be good for MX don't really know. However the problem is no one is diving deep enough to describe the dirt composition, everyone is just saying "the dirt is bad" which doesn't help understand the issue.
I think they had to combine the 2 into supermotocross to compete against WSX. But when WSX wasn’t a hit or competitive, FELD decided to not spend as much money on the last 3 finals as last year and this is what you get.
Dirtwurxfixed that 4ft rhythm hole after qualifying. didn’t last two laps in the first moto before it blew back out. There’s also another 10ft of jump face with no hole in the landing 🤷🏻♂️
I've never seen so much complaining about every aspect on the industry. There isn't 1 show that isn't full of negative BS and soon the complete dumding down to the tracks and motorcycles to make everyone happy. Almost every show in the industry is all who's to blame petty BS. Lost the whoops because some are just better and we can't have that and now it's bitching about bumps in the track, sad
From a viewers point of view I personally thought the racing was still awesome and maybe as shitty as the track was for the riders the racing was good. Maybe a challenging track made the riders work it out and the best came to the top ??
The way I see it these guys are suppose to be the best at what they do an the best guys figured out how to race the track an the guys who wreck every other weekend wrecked ya it’s not good to see riders out there getting hurt but the whining isn’t helping anything
So are Stew & RC sellouts because they said it was good dirt before the race & Stew said he was out there suggesting changes to the track to open it up for passing Or are you guys making a Big deal out of nothing (I don't know I wasn't there & these are the only riders I heard complain)
SMX is very lame race if it wasn’t for the money none of the riders would be at those three riders. The tracks are lame 2nd time in a row. jus need to do a full blown SX track and then have a couple long sweeping sections with sand and deep ruts maybe some roller. Other then that it needs 15whoops into a 180 turn into a 10whoops and dragon backs
I’m no logistics man but 500 ton of dirt a hr up the wood cost a hell of a lot here in Aussie prob $10000 the winner gets a mil$ = fald and ama pro sport aren’t winners they f up big time . Steve u mite get a gig on mxdn team if they keep serving up this kind of shit. Just who dose like racing on egg shells it’s spoze to be pinnacle of the sport or so they keep selling it to us like that only thing missing was the pellet penalising a frog
Good job FELD. Top Notch..... tally up the rider injuries for the weekend. Who's paying for the riders bills? And I'm shocked they didn't have alligator pit and knife toss thrown in track design... Phil, I agree 100%
The idea that organizers need to protect the riders from themselves is asinine. If these guys don't have enough sense to govern themselves it's not the organizers fault.
SMX is nothing more than 3 extra supercross with a gimmick point system. I dont even understand involvement mx sports has. I dont see it other than 2 motos. Its the only thing i like about the 3 races. I think it should be 50/50 SX and MX races 14 sx and 14mx rounds. Switch up the last 4 rounds 1sx-1mx-1sx-1mx And once and for all have a 250 class that races all 28 races . No regional bullsh!t. At the end of the year you have an overall champion seperate from the sx champ and the mx champ. Then add in the stories about how hot it is and you cant bring in your own beverages. What a joke. If they finish up in stadiums or speedways in upper states the heat would be a non issue. Say glen helen mx , seattle sx , ironman mx , salt lake city to finish the series. Would be good weather at all those rounds im guessing.
And top it off with the fact that i noticed the tracks and the layouts among other things went to sh!t when the switched the braodcast to peacock tv . I guess its just a coincidence. The announcing went to sh!t as well. Just the whole package. I dont even watch the races live anymore. I just wait till the highlights come on youtube. I know Phil is ready to hang them boots up after a track like that. Adobe clay city.
These places that are super hot needs to be at night, and overall night races just look much better on television in my opinion
SMX should be the showcase of the sport. The venue should accommodate the needs of the fans. The race surface should be worthy of a playoff designation. That was subpar and needs to be addressed. The racing saved the event!
Should have a select few tracks that smx can be at buy good dirt and store it
It was absolutely miserable in those stands.
Shitty part is they have the money to haul the dirt dude...... that was a cheap shitty decision
All about profit margins
Professional racers should be challenged on all types of tracks... do you agree
@traveler142 yes I do agree. But at the highest level there's no excuse for digging a hole out in the serengeti and saying that was their only option for dirt when they have more money than we can possibly imagine. Been enjoying SMX so far! 👍🔥 unfortunately the coombs and industry snakes couldn’t make the track more safe for the riders
Hot race. Bad track. No fans there. Carolina looked almost sold out on tv..and Texas looked empty. No clue wtf we just witnessed
shit they shoulda done it in SLC, feels AMAZINGGG there currently. think it through lol, texas in september.
Slc doesn’t have a speedway , and Tooele would never allow dirt in there ever again unfortunately
The Dirtwurx crew has stated multiple times that they need more time to prep the track to make it safer for the riders. Why is FELD prioritizing TV time over the safety of the riders?

If Feld really wants the sport to have a future they will hire Phil to be a rider advocate with enough power to actually affect decisions.
Feld does most things pretty well. But it is their fault. They are the boss, the funder, the promoter, the profiter. Ultimately it is their responsibility. Have a plan, check the contingencies, and make a premier show.
A super long set of whoop-esque rollers and some table to table action is always sweet. Oh and a split rythmn section.
They dug a hole..... 🕳
Thanks for speaking up Steve! A lot of people in your position wouldn't have, I was cringing the whole race for everyone. Tough situation.
Not being a racer of that caliber, I liked the race, it was tough, but man, it’s way better than watching a mudder that is follow the leader

A ray just talking to talk lmao half the field is dead but I like seeing riders challenge lmao
As a dfw local, this just sucks. I feel like the track conditions were so jank that the smx product will never return to north texas. Just a bummer
They should of had SMX in Baltimore city, that’s where I’m from. A lot of motocross enthusiasts. Mind you most of their bikes are stolen and riding on the street, but that was exactly how the track in Texas was, so only makes sense

Good take. All the purse money, Feld had to cut corners somewhere...reminds me of the amature flaggers outdoors....profits profits profits
They should have protested for a re work of the track for the second moto.
It seems like all the riders had an issue with Dallas track except for one Dude... Deegs who crushed it!!!

You got "Stewable" then you got "Macadoable"
The riders are the best there are and should be able to ride any conditions it is not street racing.
Just another day at the track for Texas boys. 😂
trey canard tried to work with the track builders to build a safe track. what happened there?
Dirtwurxfixed that 4ft rhythm hole after qualifying. didn’t last two laps in the first moto before it blew back out. There’s also another 10ft of jump face with no hole in the landing 🤷🏻♂️
Next year they should make a real sand track for a round
Why is it $150 plus to attend these races as a spec?
I've never seen so much complaining about every aspect on the industry. There isn't 1 show that isn't full of negative BS and soon the complete dumding down to the tracks and motorcycles to make everyone happy. Almost every show in the industry is all who's to blame petty BS.
Lost the whoops because some are just better and we can't have that and now it's bitching about bumps in the track, sad
What about more track repair during the race.
9 whoops for rider safety...also k rails 5 feet from track unprotected, untrained flaggers, cheapest sh!t dirt around, peacock 30% price increase, add rounds to profit beyond pay scale per round. I'm watching mxgp before this greed circus
Welcome to australian dirt type. we ride these concrete dust bowls week in week out
Lmao gotdammit I gotta ride now!
From a viewers point of view I personally thought the racing was still awesome and maybe as shitty as the track was for the riders the racing was good. Maybe a challenging track made the riders work it out and the best came to the top ??

Felds #1 problem for years has been dirt..not enough dirt crappy dirt. I mean they own it why not fix the problem in the off season??
They dug a hole on site and used the dirt..WTF
So are Stew & RC sellouts because they said it was good dirt before the race & Stew said he was out there suggesting changes to the track to open it up for passing
Or are you guys making a Big deal out of nothing (I don't know I wasn't there & these are the only riders I heard complain)
Stew and RC are paid to lie on tv to the viewers. They're talking out their ass all the time

The kid that’s been racing pro 2 full years got through it…and won. 🤷
My CR500R would had no hook up on that track.
I’m no logistics man but 500 ton of dirt a hr up the wood cost a hell of a lot here in Aussie prob $10000 the winner gets a mil$ = fald and ama pro sport aren’t winners they f up big time . Phil always complaining lol sound like an old man who’s never happy
That track was rubbish
Good job FELD.
Top Notch.....

Phil, I agree 100%

SX as is will be short lived unfortunately. Not that entertaining. I went to DFW for last weeks race. I won't do it again.
The idea that organizers need to protect the riders from themselves is asinine. If these guys don't have enough sense to govern themselves it's not the organizers fault.
Ok well y was Deegan rippin like ther was nothin wrong with the dirt?
