The organist at the forefront of this planet, thank you!
Why am I so often in tears when Gert van Hoef plays? I think it is the way he loves the work intensely, then lives it completely, and presents it as a generous gift to his listeners around the world. Even a piece as familiar as this, becomes something new and enthralling again.
This recording demonstrates the love Gert has for Baroque music at this time. Such grace and tempo control. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Each time I sit under a plane tree in the park I think of this wonderful video and the joy it gives so many. I still have a recoding of Kathleen Ferrier who sang this song in the 1940s.
Great playing and use of registrations for this piece!! Makes it very melodic and heavenly sounding, which is the original intent of this piece!! Really am glad to see you growing so much in your understanding of organ literature and also sacred works!! Keep it up, as the Lord is definitely gifting you more and more!! Amen!!
The two.young people Playing this organ tell.me.that This is want the New people of to Day can bring in.to the churches To help it on it way.when the virus Has gone so good ,
I absolutely love this composition by Handel. I would never have thought that a instrument other then the human voice could have rendered its beauty and pathos so elegantly. Gert thanks so much. I am in awe of your interpretation.
This Xerxes/Largo Hauptwerkconcert always sounds so GOOD I repeat it many times over and over. the Pedal Base on that organ sounds the best I've heard in a LONG time.
I don't know any more beautiful melody than this one by Händel. And to hear it so wonderfully played makes this rendition to one of the best I've ever heard.
I bless the day I discovered this talented young man. S much expression tecnique and and delicatesse in every note. Truly he is the future standard for organists world wide. I must hear him live sometime soon.
You are like a virtuoso alien! I am not a musician but music speaks to me, I like to listen to the organ and your talent fascinates me, hypnotises me, transports me. I listened to Marie Claire Alain, Pierre Bardon and others, now I listen to you with immense pleasure! Thanks to you, Jan and Marjolein. I hope to see you play one day in France ...
This is Heavenly, to say least! You have to come to Atlantic City and play the Midmer-Losh organ in Boardwalk Hall. It’s the largest pipe organ in the world and it’s waiting for you to perform on it with your God given talent! Thanks for all you do!
I simply cannot get enough of Gert's rendering of Handel's "Ombra mie fu"/Lardo on that pipe organ "counterfeit"/electronic Mixture Intrada organ whether 3:30 am or during lunch, it's that captivating. Never take it off the Net!
Hans! Nice to "need" one with such good taste! Wonder how it would sound on a large orchestral organ such as the Wanamaker in Philly or the one at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall; maybe the Longwood Garden Music Conservatory--biggy? Who can do the job like Gert??
Beautiful. The emotion is evident. Having the video, as well as the music makes for double enjoyment. Thanks to your camera crew. Waiting to hear you play Elgar's Nimrod.
Today I´ve been recording some Abba songs for a choir´s rehearsal and now before mixing, I had to "cool down" a bit and what could be better than this beautiful music played by my favorite organist Gert. Thanks Gert, and I wish you All the best for the future!
Very well done indeed! Tempo and Registration perfect. Just the right balance between emotion and restraint. Gert you are brilliant. This is the best version I have EVER heard. Marie Allain was a bit cold, and Richter technically superb, Koopmans definitely good, but you have something different to all of them, and I cant quite put my finger on it. I think it maybe is your Faith in God.
No doubt : Gert is one of the next great, great, GREAT names of the organ. May he dare, using the HW technology, and - why not - alongside another superstar named Cameron, may them both dare to pull the organ out of his stone straitjacket, bring it out, bring it to the streets, to auditoriums, to cafe terraces, I don't know whereelse, but closer to the audience that it is by now. May them bring the organ to the audience - rather than wait until its audience pushes the doors of a church to come to him. May them play all those great organ masterpieces, and also other stuff that commonly cannot be played in a church, for morality reasons. Why not jazz, rock n roll, why not national anthems, why not movie soundtracks... Something nowadays is possible with HauptWerk, that has never, never, never been possible since near 2,300 years the organ exists. God bless my wish. And God bless you, Gert.
Count me too. I search from my history and listen again. God bless Gert. (Blessings from India). Also thanks for the Hauptwerk software team for developing this wonderful software.
I have 2 sons, one is a stock broker the other a real estate broker, it would have been nice to have had another one like this kid around playing the kind of music I like. Alas he belongs to some other proud father.
You poor bastard. Could have been worse though: Life Insurance Salesman instead of a Stock Broker. And instead of a Real Estate Broker ... no maybe not.
This is the most Beautiful piece of music!
Beautiful. Listening from New Zealand
Thank you God for these two beautiful young men.
Gert is totally inspiring and his rendering of all these pieces of music sometimes moves me to tears. such amazing talent.
I have been watching this most talented man since his early posts. He never disappoints...so Gifted by The Lord.
Seeing these two young Dutch men collaborating on this sublime music makes me have hope.
As I have said all along, it's nice to know that at least one teenager appreciates good music. Thanks Gert.
good
I believe Gert is making the organ cool again for 'young people today'.
AMEN!
I have to keep coming back to this wonderful recording. Each time I sit here with tears in my eyes, so wonderfully moving.
Stephen Cook same here. I just discovered this now. So so beautiful.
So very beautifully played Thank you Gert .
As a simple Church Organist for 50 years, I am impressed how well he has progressed over the years. God bless you.
I am 69 now, have been playing since I was 12. I can listen to Gert all day long.
Dale Rider, how appropriate. Thank you. Eternity! I just turned 68.
@@dalerider3124 It's amazing. It's beautiful I want to learn from you.

It touches the very core of my soul! Beyond words! Grateful!
what a talented youn man, beautifully played, one of the best version's i have heard.
Organ is my favourite musical instrument and to be played by a brilliant young organist is truly a great achievement.
Why am I so often in tears when Gert van Hoef plays? I think it is the way he loves the work intensely, then lives it completely, and presents it as a generous gift to his listeners around the world. Even a piece as familiar as this, becomes something new and enthralling again.
+Bouncybon I feel the same way.
+tampanativeson As do I.
+Bouncybon me too!
It’s probably because you find him intensely attractive, like I do. And his page turner. 🙂

I've never heard it more beautifully played.

Phillip Warren I have watched him progress for the last 7 years. He is amazing.

That was sublime and beautiful. Great work
I seriously ask the owner(s) to never, never remove this, Gert's performance of Ombra mai fu from TH-cam! Moreover it is worth to be released on dvd!

A beautiful different rendition..As a child I got so emotional at Largo, my father had to stop the recording..Over 60 yrs ago.
very wonderful .. lovely xx

The beauty of this piece and Gert's interpretation put a smile on my face!
Love your Version!! Thanks for posting
Oh my God! This makes me tremble with overwhelming feelings.
Love the way he expresses himself when he plays. Who's his little mate? They are always together. Proud for them both.
Beautifully played. A graceful speed and tempo.
this is so emotionally beautiful. Gert is a master organist. Bless you.
Very nice! One of the best recordings I have heard.
Beautiful piece. Excellent rendition.
