      What a beautiful rendition! So many organists play this piece so fast that it seems that the Queen has to make a quick appearance then rush to catch a plane. Your performance has grace and majesty. Your registrations are spot on. Thanks for posting.

    Such a triumph of the evolution of our species! This is one of the most accomplished and beautiful of all musical compositions, played here just as beautifully as could ever be. When my second daughter was about 16 she asked me what I really saw in "my" music, so I played this to her, a recording by a small musical ensemble. More than 25 years later she has never asked me again why I listen to "my" music; it has also become "hers". Now I have two reasons for loving this piece.
    If my brain tried to control my hands, each independent of the other, and my feet with anything even vaguely resembling this level of skill it would be overloaded and unable to activate my breathing. The words "musician" and "magician" rightfully have most of their letters in common.

      @towm: You make a great point in your second paragraph. I used to attend George Wright concerts in SFO in the 50s. It was amazing to see his hands fly over five manuals, flipping stop switches, stepping on the foot pedals and contolling the volume. I was lucky to learn a couple of nursery rhymes on a sax. Organists are illustrations of "multitasking".
      This piece was marvelous.

    Beautifully played, loved the registrations the organist used. I have heard it played by people who were just showing off how fast they could play, losing the beauty of the piece altogether. A live organ recital is amazing! Decades ago my mom and I attended one while visiting Vienna, and while I don't remember what was on the program, I DO remember that you could feel your chest vibrate with the really low register notes. To hear an organ being played in a centuries-old church (or even a not so old church or concert hall) is a unique experience.

      Organists, while playing the pedals, are seen to be wearing very soft soled shoes, like dance shoes, or socks. I supposed the reason was regular shoes were clumsy and one could easily hit an unwanted adjacent pedal. Well observe Mr Suess wearing stiff leather soled shoes, indicative of his great talent and accuracy! Those shoes, his pedal work did it for me, Mr Suess is the Meister of the noble organ.

      @@MarkusSuess You play to a high professional standard in my opinion. We had a beautiful pipe organ that was deamed too expensive to restore and we now have a 'digital organ'. It has no 'soul' like the pipe organ had and I cannot 'connect' with it. The pipe organ was dismantled and shipped to Germany (Florsbactal) where it was fully restored and is in constant use. I was invited over by the restorer to play it a couple of years ago. I was happy to see, hear and play it again and glad to see it was treasured and being used, but very sad to go home back to the digital organ. I wish our country valued real organs as much as yours does.

    • @MarkusSuess
      @MarkusSuess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your story. I know, a "real" pipe organ cannot be replaced by anything. I wish you a lot of fun with the music that can overcome borders so easily.

    I must admit I never thought organs could sound so melodic! They had always come across to me as sombre, grave instruments. Wonderfully done!

      Thanks for your comment! An organ only sounds the way the player wants it to. An organ can also be happy ... but only if the person in front of it is too :-) Happy greetings from Germany

    Fabulous! Sounds so magnificent played on an organ. Organists amaze me, playing with both hands AND both feet (much more pedal action than with a piano). Those bass notes are great. Several decades ago my mother and I attended an organ recital in a church in Vienna...I don't remember the program specifics (probably Bach! 🥰), but I do remember how the bass notes were so powerful that my chest literally vibrated!

    Now that's a bridal theme. Written for one who is smitten about a woman whose beauty was unmatched in the eyes of her lover. The Queen of Sheba was very beautiful. Handel painted this so well.
    Handel's B Flat organ concerto used by borsheims to sell their Diamond Wedding rings are also fitting.
