as someone who has been engaged and looked into the weird and wonderfully complicated marriage laws in england - there's no way this was a legal marriage. It takes weeks to arrange the wedding license, both people need to meet the registrar first, it needs to be indoors (under a permanent structure at least like a hefty gazebo as the structure itself is what is licensed, not grounds around it) and a registrar can't carry out a wedding at a religious building, only a priest can.

Under UK law, non-consummation is only grounds for annulment in opposite sex marriages, and same sex couples are very explicitly excluded from this (which imo is ridiculous). I'm wondering how he was able to annul the marriage at all.
@Gary Baldi Annulments are much simpler than divorces. Making it harder for people to get annulments leads to them getting divorced instead. That puts more strain on the courts, not less.

Nah, that's a whole lot of bullshit. In Germany, all nobility is abolished except as part of the normal surname. There are no more titles of lordship (except through normal, bourgeois inheritance in the surname) and you certainly can't just give them to yourself. In addition, the state of Prussia no longer exists, which is why you cannot own any land in Prussia.

If the entire point was to give a royal seal of approval he could’ve just let his now-husband give it (then it should hold for eternity since his husband is biologically a direct descendant). Apparently there’s no official ruling yet as to how and if titles/etc. can get transferred from a male descendant onto a same-sex spouse (a female one wouldn’t be able either way) and I also doubt that his now-husband has any titles by birth to share. Secondly, lack of consummation also cannot be used as grounds for annulment when the union was same-sex (which itself is legal though in the UK), so it looks like he’s still stuck in his gay royal-ish marriage for at least another year but I feel like that probably wouldn’t have too big of an actual effect cuz they both do not look like they were going to want to marry somebody else within the year (though maybe I’m wrong)

Nah, that's a whole lot of bullshit. In Germany, all nobility is abolished except as part of the normal surname. There are no more titles of lordship (except through normal, bourgeois inheritance in the surname) and you certainly can't just give them to yourself. In addition, the state of Prussia no longer exists, which is why you cannot own any land in Prussia.
You know, there are centuries of well documented and curated marriages, divorces, children, etc from royals.

If the entire point was to give a royal seal of approval he could’ve just let his now-husband give it (then it should hold for eternity since his husband is biologically a direct descendant).
Apparently there’s no official ruling yet as to how and if titles/etc. can get transferred from a male descendant onto a same-sex spouse (a female one wouldn’t be able either way) and I also doubt that his now-husband has any titles by birth to share.
Secondly, lack of consummation also cannot be used as grounds for annulment when the union was same-sex (which itself is legal though in the UK), so it looks like he’s still stuck in his gay royal-ish marriage for at least another year but I feel like that probably wouldn’t have too big of an actual effect cuz they both do not look like they were going to want to marry somebody else within the year (though maybe I’m wrong)
