    There are several good time lapse videos of the tide going in and out, but this is the only one I've seen right at the Tide line as it comes in. Well done!

    I appreciate the lack of music or narration. It's amazing that we are seeing something that has been happening every day for thousands of years, and will happen long after we are gone.

    Great video, thank you. It's also interesting to try and visualise it from the perspective of the water being stationary, relative to the moon/sun, with the rotation of the Earth moving the land towards the water 🙂

      Or with places like the Bay of Fundy, as a bathtub full of water being sloshed back and forth.

      There is a tidal bore that can get fairly impressive. But there are also extensive flat areas along the shores where the water just sort of creeps in.

    Thanks for sharing, Thomas! I've always wanted to go contemplate the tide accelerating its momentum on a quite flat area of Fundy Bay about 1hr after low tide. 🤩

      Considering the tide is not really moving. It's the earth rotating through the tides, its kind of slow.

    • @TheRealFumigator
      @TheRealFumigator 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@darrylstein187 You're saying the earth is moving beneath the tides which are somehow standing still? That's not how momentum works though. And we wouldn't see tides on west coasts. No, this isn't correct at all.

    • @ArchFundy
      @ArchFundy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealFumigator Actually Darryl is right, sort of. It's complicated. I'm sure there must be docs here on YT explaining it.

    • @TheRealFumigator
      @TheRealFumigator 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArchFundy No doubt it's complicated. Conversation of momentum is the overruling force here though.

    • @ArchFundy
      @ArchFundy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealFumigator Tides are sort of a bulge on the ocean that point in the general direction of the moon, and to a lesser extent on the opposite side of the world from the moon and the world does spin under them. That's why there are 2 tides a day. There are better explanations than mine here on YT.

      Thomas Cove is in Economy Nova Scotia. Go exactly an hour after low tide. The path to the left at the parking lot goes to the beach. You can go out across the mud flats to the low basin but don't cross to the sandstone ledges as they will be surrounded by the tide. It comes in really fast so timing is everything.
