My father was a truck driver for 45 years. Guys, BELIEVE ME when I say that driving a truck in a city is IMMENSELY difficult. Please be patient with these guys. It’s a TON of stress and you constantly have to remember low viaducts and streets that you can’t drive on because you’ll get stuck. If you see them having trouble making a right turn, it’s also helpful to back up if you can (if you’re in the left turn lane that they need to use to make the turn). Truck drivers are right up there with military, in my eyes. Without you guys, no one gets any goods. And you sacrifice so much of your personal lives to do this job. Btw, you did great and made the correct call.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment here and for appreciating our work. It's so nice to see a comment like this. Hopefully, everyone has this understanding. They never understand this until they become a trucker. Have a wonderful day.😊❤️🙏
Imagine elon musk comes through and builds tunnels connecting various hubs around the city. for truckers use only. The hubs would then use a fleet of smaller vehicles to service the city.

Gives me a great business idea though as a box truck driver to be a middle man to avoid semi trucks from having to do crap like that.
You’re correct bro. It’s is so hard for a big semi like mine to come to downtown Chicago. All the streets are too tight for turns, and the place is too confusing to find. That’s a good decision Jake calling the back up Cops the downtown chicago it’s really crazy to drive specially the road it’s too narrow not like downtown LA it’s different, right here is crazy, that’s why I’m coming back home to LA hopefully next year. Good job Jake it’s better to get some help than making a mess 👍
You acted well in the given situation. No one prepares you for situations like this, not even truck driving school. You showed resourcefulness when you called the police, so you are also covered from any liability. Good job.
Hey Jake, incredible video. I watch it primarily because I am interested in law enforcement and I really liked how the officers amended the situation. I also like how you interact with the community. How did you capture this footage? You may consider putting equipment or affiliates in the description!
Dude, I got the the bubble guts just watching this! I would have been needing to take a nervous shit the whole time! You should be proud of yourself, with calling for help, and even then, you STILL had to do so many tricky manuevers, while staying cool as a cucumber. Awesome that everyone was so understanding and helpful. Yeah, they should maybe have smaller trucks deliver stuff down there in a couple more trips. But dispatch gonna dispatch, I guess! Is it weird that I was still half expecting you to make some pork chops and rice after all of that? Lol. I hope you got to choll out after that. People need to watch and know, so they can empathize when they see truck drivers! Subscribed man! Thanks for all that you do!
Hey bro! I appreciate your time typing and giving your opinion. I am feeling great when people don’t judge me as a trucker of being called dumb because I called a police. I see that you watch the video and understand before judging. Love back to you brother ! ❤️😊🤛🏻
As a driver bro I would never think of calling 911 but now I’ll definitely be having it on my mind .. Chicago city is a crazy experience with truck man , salute to you my brother
👍 fantastic job bruh. I use to Deliver downtown my self also. My first 4 Deliverys. 0ne was right there also I no how you felt. You did the the correct thing by calling 911 for help. I tried to get downtown by 6:30am alot less traffic 😅. Outstanding JOB!! YOU KEPT IT ALL UNDER CONTROL. you got lucky for everyone too be so helpful to help you without any attitude. Being calm and smart pays off every time. You get 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Helpful piece of advice from a driver in the northeast. Approaching city corners or tight spots take control of the space you need before getting to it. They’ll honk and scream but you’re bigger, they always wait. Lol. You did a good job. Bet you slept well that night! lol. Stay safe.
This is why Merchandise Mart used to be served by the railroad. And in all honesty it still should be. That entire area during rush hour is literally gridlock traffic, as a truck driver you would have to wait until all that traffic subsides, which could take hours. With a train, that wouldn't be the case. There is still technically a track to that area, but it hasn't been used in over 20 years east of the river.
You are doing such a great job downtown Chicago . I have been there, it was one of the scariest drives of my life in my big truck. You. stayed away from the bridges, they are all low .you did the right thing calling the police.they can help you out in this situation .if they don't get shitty and start to abuse you.😮 tell your boss that you will quite if he/she ever sends you to Chicago again. ❤
I live near Chicago and go there/drive there quite often. A lot of spots its hard to drive in even with just a normal like sedan basically. I cant imagine how it is for truck drivers trying to squeeze around those tiny streets. And no worries on having to call the police, you were under stress and you handled it. A lot of people, myself included, probably wouldve let the stress take over. nice job
Thank you for watching and your comment here. I appreciate that you address that I did the right thing. Some are bashing me badly 😂 have a good day to you ❤️😊🙏
always good to be embarrassed asking for help than to be embarrassed dealing with worse consequences like crashing, even driving a car down there is difficult brother dont sweat it
Do you get paid a stress fee? Because this whole time I haven't been able to breathe and I'm watching this from six time zones over. Whew!! I love that you're calm and respectful.
Happen to stumble on this video and it's quite funny but also a pain to deal with this kind of situation but definitely you did the right thing of calling the police, good move. I'm a fellow Filipino who lives in the suburbs of Chicago and definitely you need to know the ins and outs of downtown since that place is full of one way roads and it's like a maze. I've lived in IL for over 20 years and I still messed up sometimes when I go downtown in spite of the GPS.
Watched the whole thing . Did the smart thing called for help . I work in an electrical plant one thing those truck drivers always say they would never go to New York or Chicago. Good job kuya 💪🏽
Hey my brother! Thanks for watching. Yeah bro Chicago and New York are the worst place to bring the load to deliver. Nobody wants to be here. But I get to experience it 😀😉
I do service calls in a city and I sometimes will check street view to see what the parking/building access situation is. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
You need to be over to the left when making the right turn to get it. Not sure how Americans are with this but in the UK most people understand when they see a lorry over to the right making a left turn that they hold back.
If there is a way to just perform the maneuver, even if we hold people up we should do it, if we are delivery drivers because our task is just temporary. I remember some deliveries taking me 15 minutes, that could have been like 2 because I was being so polite to other drivers.
I truly salute all the Truck drivers that have to make their deliveries downtown. Whenever I see them, I immediately get out of y'all's way lol Chicago is hard enough to navigate lmao from the weird random dead-ends, to the distracted unexperienced drivers, to the random narrow roads that seemingly expand out of nowhere, down to the occasional signal losses moving in between the buildings lol you have enough on your plate I don't wanna add to that scratch. and DONT even get me started on the whole Wacker Dr. conundrum thats a novel of its OWN keep on truckin man
One last tip bro, as a Chicago native all 24 years of my life. When it comes to Chicago traffic and streets don’t be afraid to get over or use your weight to your advantage lmao. The average Chicagoan especially downtown is a complete asshole on the road being nice and timid will lead to folks bullying you out the way don’t be afraid to swang that big mf over and use your horn aggressively 😂😂 trust being shy on Chicago roads and you’ll be sitting on the shoulder waiting forever lmao remember you got a good 30-40 tons to work with they only have about 1-2 trust me you get over or blip that airhorn they’ll move or wait 💪🏽 🤜🏻🤛🏽
I honestly don’t know about the rules. Thanks for telling me this. Dispatch never said anything about it. If it’s prohibited why I see trucks delivering at the mart during this time. But it’s good to know 😊🙏
I drive locally and that includes Chicago. Luckily I only have to drive stake beds and box trucks, so its not as complicated, but it isn't that easy to navigate those streets a lot of the time! Props to you sir!
Have you ever had to go in the elevator on state and monroe? and then down the turntable? If you know you know. I also had to do William Sonoma on rush street 900 North Michigan But you pull it on rush and you drive down a tunnel and if you have anything bigger than a 40 foot trailer you'll never make it down the tunnel.... That's P&D times hell..
My younger brother was driving a semi and enclosed car hauler delivering exotic cars to customers all over. Probably one of the most stressful over the road trucking gigs because of the extremely expensive stuff you are hauling plus the delivery destinations are always different and many times can be in city centers like Miami, Chicago, etc. You never know that a customer is living in a skyscraper on the 55th floor and you need to deliver it in downtown on a time constraint and unload on a main street for the customer. Insanity. He quit a year ago or so. He had to cheat his books from his boss because you can have 6 different customers wanting their car yesterday and you need to deliver the other 5 all across the country like yesterday. Every single person who knows the trucking business was absolutely shocked how a early 20s young man got that gig. Never would i want to do that job. EVER.
@@truthteller4442 there are select dispatchers in that center that take only 911 or non-emergency calls... Why would the city themselves say that and have a non-emergency line to call?
@@truthteller4442 obviously they use the same dispatch center. They have specific callers that handle 911 or non- emergency calls only... Why else would the city themselves say not to use 911 lines if not an emergency?

Great job. You didn't loose your cool. Driving in a city is definitely more of a pain. Chicago and Manhattan.
Thanks 😊 for your appreciation 😊🙏❤️🙏
That’s a good decision Jake calling the back up Cops the downtown chicago it’s really crazy to drive specially the road it’s too narrow not like downtown LA it’s different, right here is crazy, that’s why I’m coming back home to LA hopefully next year. Good job Jake it’s better to get some help than making a mess 👍
I agree 😊😊 I think it’s the right thing to do. It’s being responsible . 😊
Ouch Man!! We feel ya pain.. Almost as bad as driving in downtown Manila. You handled it well.. 🤎
Hahah yeah bro right? Just exactly like Manila right turns lol 😅
We here in Chicago help everyone. If you don’t like to bad so sad. We got your back. It’s what we do.
Love Chicago and its people!! Even high and drunk people in Chicago are nice in my limited experience.
You got balls of steel bro. Cheers to you!
Much appreciated bro for appreciating me 😊❤️🤛🏻🙏
You acted well in the given situation.
Hi friend thanks for commenting. Appreciate your time watching my video. I’m using go pro max 360. I got from Best Buy 😊❤️
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 excellent decision timing, great driving skills and i know your blood pressure probably sky high. keep up the great work bro. AMAZING
You are amazing! So responsible, courageous and skillful.
Thank you ❤️😊🙏
as a former driver i had anxiety watching this video, good job man!
Thank you sir ❤️😊
I never done it but that moment I have to bro better than messing up. Thanks for watching man
👍 fantastic job bruh.
You’re right! I will never come back! Thanks for your concern and your time watching here ❤️😊🙏
Great job driver, never back down from asking for help.
Some are bashing me badly 😂 have a good day to you ❤️😊🙏
They may be good but you also are an amazing driver! You have skillz!!! Kudos to you! 🥳👍🌷
Thank you! 😃😊❤️❤️🙏
Omg it gives me goosebump be safe
This actually highlights changes that could be made logistically. Truck fleets can handoff outside of cities and use more small trucks after handoffs.
Exactly . I don’t understand why they send me here without a special note .
Man, the police, Mr Blue suit guy, the dock workers and yourself were all on the ball for this. My nerves were shot just watching it, lol
Wow! You are amazing!
Wow, thank you!😊 ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah man. That was quite a situation. Good job though. 😅
always good to be embarrassed asking for help than to be embarrassed dealing with worse consequences like crashing, even driving a car down there is difficult brother dont sweat it
big respect driver 🫡
dude i'm stressed only by watching this vid, nice work!
Hehe thanks for watching 😊❤️🙏
Do you get paid a stress fee? Because this whole time I haven't been able to breathe and I'm watching this from six time zones over. Whew!! I love that you're calm and respectful.
Good Work bro good handling the Situation greetings vom Germany
Thanks 👍bro.. appreciate your time here ❤️🙏🤛🏻😊
At least they where nice and helpful to you and not prices. You done a great job with that situation 👏👍👏
Yes, thank you brother 😊🙏
WoW!!! Terrific job!!!!
😊 thanks for watching
But I get to experience it 😀😉
Great job driver u did the right things hats off to everyone . Stay safe and keep up the good work
Thank you very much 😊🤛🏻❤️
Shocked they even had cars available to send
I'm shocked too, for actual crimes they might show up 3 hours later, look around for 5 seconds and drive off. They came right away to help.
I'm getting my cdl in a few months and this video just opened up my eyes to know it won't be easy
Good luck bro. Getting your cdl. Always remember that trucking isn’t competition. Just do the right thing. Isn’t easy but you’ll like it.
If there is a way to just perform the maneuver, even if we hold people up we should do it, if we are delivery drivers because our task is just temporary.
I remember some deliveries taking me 15 minutes, that could have been like 2 because I was being so polite to other drivers.
CDL schools should make this video mandatory viewing!! AWESOME COMPOSURE AND DRIVING !!
I agree so they’ll see the reality in trucking
I was sweating watching this video...how you remained SO CALM is remarkable!! GIANT PROPS to your backing up skills !!@@JakeclydeDtrucker
You are so respectful to police I love it! Hello from Peru, and I like your accent, is nice. What country you were born? Thanks! Love from Peru.
Yes and yes thanks so much ❤️ I am born and raised in Philippines ❤️❤️🇵🇭
@@JakeclydeDtrucker salamat po for reply :)
Downtown Chicago is the worse place to find parking😭😭😭
i thought backing up was crazy then they gave you the hard right after. lmao
It’s not as easy in the situation like this lol
I truly salute all the Truck drivers that have to make their deliveries downtown. Whenever I see them, I immediately get out of y'all's way lol Chicago is hard enough to navigate lmao from the weird random dead-ends, to the distracted unexperienced drivers, to the random narrow roads that seemingly expand out of nowhere, down to the occasional signal losses moving in between the buildings lol you have enough on your plate I don't wanna add to that scratch. and DONT even get me started on the whole Wacker Dr. conundrum thats a novel of its OWN keep on truckin man
I appreciate that 😊❤️🙏
@@JakeclydeDtrucker anytime mane salute 🫡❤️💪🏽 I had to pause the video to say that I’m finishing it now with my homemade burger lol
@BabyWavv aww you’re the sweetest ❤️😊🙏 thank you for watching this video 😊❤️
@BabyWavv haha 🤣 from someone who lived in Chicago for many years.ill take this advise. Thanks bro! 😊🤛🏻🙏😃
That looks nerve wrecking bro, hope you enjoyed the trip to Chi tho 😎
Thanks bro for watching 😊
You're lucky you didn't get a ticket. Downtown Chicago semi trucks are prohibited from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. I learned that when I was a truck driver.
Thanks sir. 😊 it wasn’t easy but I got out ok.
You did a very good job backing up your Simi 👍
Yes, thanks❤️😊
dang?, govee stress kist watching how hard that was, haha! great job!!
Haha thanks ☺️
I’m from Chicago and let me tell you man everyone avoids driving in downtown it’s hectic
I like how you handle this….freaking shhhhh❤
Thank you 😊
You always take the safe way. The slowest then becomes the quickest way bc its the safest way.
Congratulations on your new truck bro keep up the good work and you should do a tour video and be safe out there and god bless you🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊😊👏👏👏
Hello bro thank you. 😊 I’ll make a video tour soon 😊stay tuned
Nice job man! Just subbed! 11.1K Subs! WooHoo!
Awesome! Thank you!bro ❤️🙏😏
@@JakeclydeDtrucker Anytime!
That would of been my first and LAST time delivering to Chicago!
Oh yeah this was the last ain’t coming here anymore 😊🤣
This was hell on earth. Kudos to you
Thank you 😊
Welcome to my world....I P&D Downtown Chicago everyday....it's not as bad as it used to be before covid. Traffic is not has heavy.
Have you ever had to go in the elevator on state and monroe? and then down the turntable?
If you know you know.
I also had to do William Sonoma on rush street
900 North Michigan
But you pull it on rush and you drive down a tunnel and if you have anything bigger than a 40 foot trailer you'll never make it down the tunnel....
EVER.
For future reference, you should look up the local police non-emergency line.
Thank you for your opinion
It doesn’t matter. It all goes to the same dispatch center. All you do is call 911 and say it’s non-emergency.
Welcome to chitown, home of the "just go around the block" circus. 😂 This is what happens when you're land locked. Lol
