    I own both the black and white and the colored Frankenstein’s Monster neca figures. Real or fake, I don’t care. I think they’re beautiful figures. I hope they put out the Bride of Frankenstein figure soon so I can sit her between both of them.

    Something else to keep in mind is that NECA does reissues of a lot of figures, and the detailing from one run to the next can be very different. I bought the T-1000 (in standard cop uniform) years ago, and it's a great looking figure, but the latest run that's in stores right now looks AWFUL to me. Still the exact same sculpt, but the materials and finishing do the likeness no favors, and it ends up looking a lot less like Robert Patrick. Same goes for a lot of figures. I've seen runs of Freddy Krueger where his sweater is completely clean when it should be dirty, as well, and they've reworked the look of the hockey masks on the Part 3 and Part 4 Jason figures. These aren't bootlegs, but will look 'weird,' and possibly suspicious, to collectors who are familiar with earlier runs of the same figures. So while there are definitely a lot of bootlegs out there, a lot of people also misidentify some official figures as bootlegs, because of running changes to the final detailing.

      Ah yes, the neca t1000, the latest reissue has a silver painted pistol instead of the black one, which is inaccurate.

    The original Pinhead has the trademarks, but it's not under your foot, it's under your rubber belly. You can lift this part and you will see the marks under the rubber, just like Elvira has the mark on her head on the inside of her hair.

    I would double check the Pinhead figure. Depending on when you went you may have been looking at the version 2 figure instead of the version 1 which looks more like what you have. They seriously retooled the head on v2. Also pretty sure NECA put the trademark stuff on Pinhead’s tummy.

  • @CutterCH
    @CutterCH หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Over the past 5 years, I've noticed that a lot of real Neca figures don't have the Neca trademark on the feet. It's stamped someplace else on the figure. Also, there are tons of bootleg Neca figures with the Neca trademark stamped on the feet. You can't always say it's real because it says Neca on the feet or someplace else on the figure. Bad paint jobs are a dead giveaway most of the time. For example, the bootleg Leatherface, Chucky, and Pinhead figures have the absolute worst paint jobs that are an instant giveaway.

    It comes to something when you have to scrutinize closely to determine whether figure is genuine or not. I had a Superman Reeve that I took as being genuine as it looked superb in every way but began to doubt when I realised there were 100s of fakes out there. I ended up selling and the buyer was convinced it was legit. I'm sure it was but still to this day I don't really know!

    As a collector myself, I keep mine sealed in the box with a few exemptions.
    The Uk buyer will always struggle with knockoffs.
    To check all mine I would have to unbox them which may/or may not reduce the collectability/value down the line.
    As you say all you can do is hope your reputable seller is pushing genuine products.
    I got most of mine (around 60) from the same suppliers, madabouthorror. HMV. Geeknerd toys. Great Scott collectibles. I probably have around 10 or so from eBay from years back which are open on display but they all have the stamps on the foot. Guess I’ve been lucky.
    All the boot legs are doing is forcing up the price of the genuine ones so it’s important not to support the bootlegs, however cheap, even if they do look great.
    Nice video and another sub 👍

    I have a massive collection of neca Aliens and Predators, and only one alien is a bootleg out of all of them, and I bought him from a convention, one way you can tell a bootleg Alien is it has outdated articulation and sculpt. Though the bootleg I have is actually better than the real one I have, as the real one had a warped leg, I had to glue the tail back onto the Bootleg though, since then it’s been a great figure.

    I found my way here after getting my first true NECA bootleg in the mail today. At T-800...of course from China. Was able to find and identify the right figure after searching but I had no idea this was so rampant. When they're all just lined up on a shelf you can't tell which is real and which is KO. The big difference is that the KO's are typically a lot more fragile and have a lot stiffer joints.

Because I own the re-issue, and the colors are too bright for Freddy imo. When it arrived the arm snapped off immediately, he couldn't stand properly, and his face seemed WAY too ashy. Some online sellers will get butthurt and block you just for asking them if their listed figure is authentic. Also probably a sign it is a bootleg. Although some sellers are not even aware of bootlegs or that their figure is a bootleg which is why I ask to begin with. Honest sellers will tell you and sellers you dont want to deal with will either ignore you or block you. One seller sold me a bootleg endoskeleton terminator and didnt even know bootlegs existed. She gave me a refund and didn't even ask for the bootleg back so some sellers are legitimately unaware of the problem. I actually buy bootlegs in some instances if they are decent quality but I always verify if its is authentic or not ahead of time. Got burned once on mercari with a Jason part 5 figure that turned out to be a bootleg so I always verify even if listing says Neca in listing description.

We don’t have eBay or Amazon but also we don’t have these figures in shops/stores/targets (or it’s extremely rare to happen, and usually they all fake) So the only way to get action figure - order from internet from online shops. We have some platforms similar to Amazon , but it’s extremely hard to find a really original figure 🥲 I got a fake Freddy action figure, and didn’t even suspect that there can be fake ones here, so I was disappointed when found out. (There are Neca 2011 copyright mark on the foot haha) I have enough money to get original ones , and I want only such. I am gonna buy Pinhead action figure soon , hope it will be original 🥲 At least in reviews everyone says that it seems to be original. I hope so. (I also have an 100% original Pennywise action figure (he don’t have any copyright marks on foots , but it must be like this , I watched a lot of unboxings) ordered from Amazon few years ago, but you know, you need to spend 60 more dollars for the shipment , it’s not really cool because usually it’s more expensive than the figures themselves 😭

      If you read from the other comments, it isn’t an exact science. NECA really do seem to have made this mess themselves! Common consensus is, if you’ve bought it from a legitimate source, then chances are you can be 99.9% certain you have a genuine figure, just stay away from Chinese sellers online, AliExpresss and eBay.

    I've gotten a couple sub par bootlegs and that I have a problem with. If a bootleg is at least equal in quality to the authentic though, I don't care any. Especially if it's cheaper than scalper prices. I'd be way more upset paying a scalper some stupid amount of money they don't deserve than i would paying a reasonable price to a bootleger for a good quality product.

    • @beardedgeektoyreviews836
      @beardedgeektoyreviews836  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I honestly couldn’t say my friend. As you’ll see from many of the comments from other collectors, it really is pot luck sometimes when ordering NECA products and sometimes figures you think are knock offs because they don’t carry Trademarks on the figure, actually turn out to be genuine NECA products. All I can advise is do your research on the seller first, if they have good reviews and are a reputable seller/online retailer then you should be ok but even some of the knock off figures are just as good as the genuine ones.
      I actually have a new NECA video going up tomorrow where I open and review a NECA figure that I bought very cheaply to see if it is a knock off version, never done that deliberately before so look out for it.
      Thanks for watching 😎

I usually try to buy extras of Chris Reeve Superman and 89 Batman since they break so easy. All they have to do is look real cool. I think my 89 Batman is legit since I bought them at the store. Superman not so sure but I have alot extras of him along with the 1/4 version. Let them do a 1/4 knockoff of Superman in that scale.... HA! .

    I just watched this video, and I'm not entirely sure that what you said about the copyrights is totally correct. I've been buying my NECA figures from the same bricks and mortar retailer for years and I'm certain they get them from a UK distributor in much the same way Forbidden Planet would. I think it's dependent on the licensing agreement NECA have with a particular studio as to what appears on the feet. I have a Pennywise, Deckard from Blade Runner 2049 and all the Gremlins, which are all by Warner, and they have nothing on their feet. My Frankenstein Monster, by Universal, does have a copyright as does my Ash (Evil Dead) which has a Starz copyright on it. My Alien, by Fox, has logos on it too (Check the bottom of the toes!). Every one of those came from the same place and the same distributor and I doubt they'd have a mix of real and fake.
    I do, however, agree with you about eBay sellers in China. When I was looking for my Alien, I saw loads pop up at prices way lower than MSRP, all were the same style of listing. They were definitely bootlegs. eBay isn't all bad though. I found one guy in the UK and every figure I've had from him has been genuine and if my regular place doesn't have it then I look to him.

    Well, sorry to say but the info provided is not entirety accurate. Some NECA figures, despite the fact they are genuine, do NOT come with stamps on the back of their feet. For example, the 2-pack Sarah and John Connor - Sarah comes with the stamps, John does not. I as well own the Michael Keaton Bats (but the purple retro game version, same mold), and mine as well does not come with the stamps on the back of it's feet. Now i know for a fact these are genuine because i only buy from licenced shops, only use Ebay for vintage Gi Joes. So yeah. .Some NECA figures just do not come with the stamps. Your Keaton Bats might be 100% genuine sir!

    I found a new trick they are using now. I accidentally bought a bootleg Ultimate Freddy. I could tell as soon as I saw the box in person - very dark, muddy and unprofessional print job and the box was missing the usual hanging tab. His feet do have what look like Neca markings but 1) the font was a little weird 2) It says "Mede in China."
    If there's one thing scammers hate it's having to put in real effort.

    I think Pinhead got it the worst, out of the bootlegs shown here. The body, in particular, isn't nearly dark enough or glossy enough, and the bloody detailing on his chest looks sloppy. A lot of NECA bootlegs are really close to official looking, but that one kinda stands out to me

    I dont have a problem with neca bootlegs, they are easy to avoid depending on where you buy your figures, if you have a problem with fakes.
    Whilst like most i prefer legit version there are times when i need multiples and bootlegs are a much cheaper alternative.
    Some bootlegs are also identical to the real versions and have no distinctions, although there are some characters (chucky and pennywise) where you can clearly tell they are fake.
    Also lets not forget that when there is no way to get exclusives or figures that were never released outside of the US then you can always get a bootlegged version ( which is the case for 89 Batman figure) which is better than not having it.
