    Hey Ms.Patti ! I'm just commenting to let you know that thanks to you and your videos, as of yesterday, 8-15-20, I'm a FL CNA! I can't thank you enough, I was stressing so much and after watching your videos for 2 weeks, they really helped me retain a lot of information I lost. The privacy blanket was never taught to me and I actually think it's one of the best tips I could have taken away from watching you. Someone who was at the testing site with me actually said she watched your videos as well and also passed! If I ever come across someone who is wanting to become a CNA I will definitely recommend your classes & online videos. :)

    Hey ms Ramsey I'm back from taking my New York State CNA exam....I just want to give u an update on how it went...well I failed my written portion of the test however i passed the skills part...so I'll only have to retake the skills...my 3 skills including hand wash and indirect care was 1.transfer resident from bed to wheel chair 2. measure and record restorations and finally 3. Provide oral care to resident with denture..I wanted to express my gratitude and thanks because if it weren't for your friendly easy to follow video demonstrations and prompt email replies ,I would of probably fail the skills portion of the exam....I have collected all of your demonstration skills and stored them in a separate playlist on my TH-cam account so I can easily bring them up...now I'm on mission to ace the written part soon and I want to be prepared this time...please provide any links or recommendations as to where i can get tips or facts on taking the written exam....again thank you and your videos had made a world of difference..and for anyone who is viewing this video this is proof that these series of demonstration really do work and help...best of luck to all taking their exam...

      New York uses the same clinical skills checklist for testing that Florida does, so these videos will demonstrate the specific scenarios you will encounter in testing. The clinical skills checklist can be found on the testing agency's website: www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/nurseaide/documents/NAClinicalSkillsChecklist.pdf These skills are demonstrated according to the checklist and based on the specific patient scenarios used in testing. Hope this helps!

    • @EricaAndrea
      @EricaAndrea 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +4yourCNA that's interesting because the school where I'm taking the class teaches some of these skills differently. Maybe because our room is set up differently idk. But for instance we wash hands after removing gloves, brush the debtures in a specific way, whenever we turn on the faucet we use a barrier & use three different toothettes for this skill

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The differences that you are describing will be your instructor's method of teaching - they are not right or wrong, just different. Our videos focus on demonstrating the skills according to testing standards, your specific instruction may differ. The state exam does not require handwashing immediately after removing gloves but DOES require handwashing at the end of the skill. The state exam does not require a specific method of brushing dentures. You can use a barrier to turn the faucet on if you wish, but dirty hands can touch a dirty faucet. Clean hands require a barrier. Using a barrier all the time just keeps you from thinking about whether your hands are clean or dirty. There is no reason to use 3 toothettes for any skill. Use a denture brush or toothbrush to brush the dentures and a toothette to clean the mouth. This is according to the Clinical Skills Checklist I mentioned in the earlier comment. When in doubt, review the checklist for testing checkpoints. Hope this helps!

      I figured out in my In home care aid class-Here in my state (WA state) the basic idea of the skill is the same. Question: if you performed dental care on patient first instead of denture care first, would you need an extra pair of gloves? Does the order of how this task is performed matter?

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      For this skill, it does not matter which order you do it in: you can clean the dentures first or the mouth. However, if you do the mouth care portion first, you will have to clean the basin twice (once after they spit in it and again after cleaning the dentures before storing it). By cleaning the dentures first, you don't have to clean the basin between dentures and mouth care, so it saves you a step. But either way is acceptable. You must have 2 pairs of gloves for this skill, regardless of how you do it: you need one pair for dentures and the other pair for the mouth. Hope this helps!

    Question, should you have used a paper towel to turn the faucet on and off when you washed the basin?

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, your gloves are dirty and so is the faucet, so no paper towel is required at this time. However, after you wash your hands, when your hands are clean, you must use a paper towel to turn the faucet on. And a paper towel is required to get water if your hands have already been washed We have an entire presentation on this in our online CNA Test Prep! It's free (for just a few more weeks) and has interactive activities, quizzes and more. It goes way beyond the skills videos we offer on TH-cam. Check it out on courses.4YourCNA.com!

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most testing centers will have a pitcher of water on the bedside table. You can pour the water when you are gathering the supplies (the pitcher and cup are considered clean). If you do not have a pitcher of water, you can get water from the tap using a paper towel to turn the water on and off when you gather supplies. Hope this helps! You might find our online program helpful as well, as it covers more of these details than TH-cam. It's free and you can find it on courses.4YourCNA.com. Good luck!

      Yes, this is the easiest way, but not a required checkpoint. If you want to turn the faucet off during cleaning, you must do so with a paper towel, and use a paper towel to turn it back on for rinsing. Leaving it running is the easiest option, though. Good luck!

    Hi for my cna Exam do I have to do everything that’s not bolded or critical in order ?

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the order does not matter for many steps, but it really depends on what you are referring to. Putting a washcloth in the bottom of the sink must be done before taking the dentures out of the cup. Brushing the dentures must be done before storing them in clean water. Putting a towel over the chest must be done before brushing their teeth. Wetting the toothette must be done before applying toothpaste. So, the order doesn't matter for some things, but does for others. The video demonstrates an appropriate method of performing this skill with all checkpoints met. Hope this helps!

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You must wash your hands at the beginning and end of every skill. You are not required to wash your hands the very second the gloves come off, but you are required to wash your hands after providing care. This handwashing can occur a few moments after glove removal, after you complete care. You can put your gloves on before going to the sink, but make sure you don't contaminate your gloves and then handle the dentures. Remember, these dentures are going into someone's mouth! Hope this helps!

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the exam, you will only have a single denture plate to clean. In a clinical setting, if the patient has both upper and lower dentures, you can clean them both with the same toothbrush and store them in clean water in the same denture cup (think of brushing your teeth in your mouth - you don't use separate toothbrushes or toothpaste - this is the same principle). Hope this helps!

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Theory related to hoyer lifts can be on the exam (requires 2 caregivers - one to work the machine, one to watch the patient) but the actual use of a hoyer is not a clinical skill for the exam. Your facility must provide specific training for the exact model of lift used in the facility during your orientation period. Hope this helps!

    My friend took an in-person CNA prep course about 3 months ago, and she was told that you shouldn't let the basin touch the inside of the sink during the exam. It's set down here and in the rest of the videos that require basin washing. Should we not be setting the basin down?

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is not a graded checkpoint on the exam, and an important principle in infection control is that the outside surface is not considered clean. When disinfecting (not done for the test but may be required in a clinical setting), you cannot hold the basin with your dirty hand while disinfecting, which is why we set it down, spray it (if required), then use a paper towel as a barrier between your soiled hand/glove and the basin. Hope this helps! :-)

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After washing the dentures, the gloves are considered dirty and dirty gloves can touch a dirty faucet. So, a paper towel is not required at this step. However, you can always use a paper towel if you are unsure. Best of luck!

    • @LifeeofNiquee
      @LifeeofNiquee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's what I was thinking no paper towel to turn off and off sink but igs different rules apply in different states.

    • @4yourcna
      @4yourcna  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You MUST use a paper towel to turn on the sink before you start (to keep your hands/gloves clean) but you are allowed to touch the faucet with dirty gloves after cleaning to turn faucet off because the faucet is dirty and so are your gloves. When in doubt, use a paper towel (but it is not REQUIRED when you are touching the faucet with dirty hands). This does not vary by state - it is a nursing principle. Thanks and best of luck!
