I have that exact same truck but mines a automatic and the cubby blue color. The only thing that has been fixed is the ujoints. It was getting a jerking feeling from a dead start. Also i was lucky enough to get the frame recall. Mine has 127,000 on it and runs and drives perfect. My last Tacoma had 338,000 on it and it ran perfect before some idiot hit me. Great trucks !!!!
I bought an 06 Tacoma brand new, same package as yours except automatic and I paid $26500. I sold in in 08 when the economy was tanking for $20000. cash. Drivers seat wasn't exceptionally comfortable but still a good value. Recently saw a video of a non running 06 purchased for $1000. bucks not sure if they ever got it running or not. Pretty cool they hit the hitch with a sledge hammer and it rained rust.
The truck is in beautiful shape. Nice find. I've got the same truck. Bought it new. Love it. 168000 mi. Now I do have the 5-speed auto. You may want to have it checked out a bit closer. I get about 20-21 mpg combined, about 21-23 highway. Get your compression checked. Not a known issue but, a little surprised since I have more miles.
The 4wd system on these trucks is top notch so I don’t think you’ll have an issue in the snow. It’s a 1/4 ton truck too so it’s smaller and easier to maneuver in a city.
Looking 4 one for my stepson. Had a Ford, engine just blew. Have a 99 and still strong. V6 Manuel, 4x4, get offers 3times a year but never will sell. Love it. 114k miles, one owner!
Im 6'6" and even I have room to drive in the 4 door tacoma. Just got my first at 260k and it drove straight for about 3/4 mile before i had to lightly adjust.
Hey man good review im picking a 05 trd offroad with 4.0 6 speed manual up tomorrow. The test drive was way different than my obs 7.3L powerstroke with a 5 speed manual. It will def take a few days if me getting used to the smaller pedals and lights clutch. But all my buddies have tacomas and we get jnto serious hunting and off road alot and that powerstroke is just to noisy and long lol. Good video man
A Tacoma with the TRD Off Road package is a force to be reckoned with off road. Add a A/T or mud terrain tire and even with the stock size, it’s tough to beat. The only thing hurting it is the long wheel base (as compared to Jeeps, FJ’s, Land Cruisers, etc.). That’s only because it’s a truck though but if you’re coming from a Powerstroke, that shouldn’t matter to you. You can make up for it with a nice lift (Bilstein) but I kept mine stock and It’ll do a lot. Enjoy the truck, keep the maintanence up and it should last you a long time.
Just bought one last week so far i love it same year and everything i do not find it is hard on gas at all haven't taken in off road yet but i am looking forward to it
After doing more testing, I get anywhere from 16-20mpg depending on how much highway. They’re awesome off road. I set it on some rocks pretty bad a few months ago. Check out that video if you want. Enjoy the truck!
I have a 2005 Tundra with the same engine and transmission. This truck actually turns 2600rpms at 65mph because it has a lower ratio differential and smaller stock tires than the Tacoma.
Update? Im looking at a trd sport version of yours, sane milage as in video, and brighter blue only differences, 6spd MT with the 4L v6, should i buy this?
Your truck is awesome with the stick. I bought a manual 3nd gen Taco, your truck is better with the 4.0L. Hate Toyota going with the smaller 3.5L. SUCKS!
@@BurningRubberDC The 3.5 is gutless, no low end torque. You have to pump the gas pedal to get the thing to move. All power/torque is at the hi end. Even in city driving, it's a pain just to get the truck off line & moving. Engine displacement is the name of the game, always - more is better.
Yes that’s what I’ve heard. The 4.0 has all that torque at the very bottom. I’ve buried it in 6th gear towing a trailer (1500lbs) up in the virginia turnpike and the truck climbed and climbed without losing speed. The bottom end is real stout with the 4.0. And really it seems like the 3.5 and 4.0 get the same fuel economy which is weird. At least if you’re giving me less power then give me better fuel economy as the trade off but they don’t.
I rode in one and it felt like my moms 2014 rav4 comfort wise, i love the way toyotas feel and drive, not to hard not too soft

The bed looks like an afterthought, the long bed is nice

I paid $12800 for mine with 140k miles. It’s crazy how well they hold their value, even the new ones.

I have since done some testing and I get about the same fuel economy. I get atleast 18 no matter what unless I’m towing.
@@BurningRubberDC It is a consistent sturdy truck for sure.
can't wait to buy mine... Chicagos winters are no longer gonna feel like a nuisance to me

Dude we all know this info

Very low mileage for the year. I’ll never sell mine either. Take care.

I hear ya! Thanks for watching!

How's the truck? I just got the same but an 06
It's so real!.I liked it too!.I love driving stick shift too!..

Wow, that's interesting. I thought my gearing was low! Jeesh.
FiredUpOffRoad yep. Stock tires are 29.5 inches, and the final drive R&P is 4.08. Same 6MT trans and you have 2600rpms, 19mpg highway.

Depends on the price and condition! I’d say get it. Mine was a TRD off road 4x4 with the 4.0 and 6 speed and it served me very very well.
Hey man do you live near the Greensboro area? I do, that place looks familiar. 😂
I actually live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
FiredUpOffRoad Sweet bro fellow North Carolinian.
I have one just like it 6 speed manual 4x4 in light blue I thought I was the only one that notice the bad gas mileage.
Still enjoying the taco? I bought a 2012 4x4 TRD sport last year in manual and I absolutely love it, it's fun to drive a six speed manual 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice! I like the looks of the TRD Sport. 6 speed can’t go wrong.
How much you spent on it ?
In terms of options for a truck, a Tacoma is the only post-2008 4X4 truck that has a manual transmission option.
How much do u want for this truck??
Sorry my friend but it is not for sale. Check your local Craigslist, there will be some Tacomas on there.
How many miles?
I love that tacoma
Me too!
What’s the price
“ $12800. U hit the lotto “
Me having mine on 35s with a lift getting 9

What would you say the differences are between the two engines?
