    Great job with the tutorial Nathan! 🙂👍 It's a nice feature to tap the joystick and still be able to track forward without holding constant pressure. 🔧

      Thanks Zane - I thought it was very slick yes - it was also surprisingly easy to do this video all from my phone, I might do more of this more regular for all kinds of different new equipment. it will allow me to keep more frequent uploads on the channel, and I hope it’ll help other operators out.

    Nathan, good tutorial. I'm a fairly recent Share from Squatch253 and I've enjoyed what I've seen of your stuff, so far. Please explain to me the nearly carnal need by "some you tubers' that while outside there is wind noise there are excuses made. Hold on, In my line of work hearing the ambient noise of the location is further proof that it's not being phoned in. Ex. coworker says "valve XY 3401 in travel" while he's keying the mike on the radio there is quiet in the back ground... Years and years of doing that same noisy valve have made me listen for certain cues that either prove or disprove if he's actually there(where he says he is). Wind noise while outside is real. Real good quiet audio, is an over dub FAKE.I prefer realism Again good stuff.

      Hi there - thanks for watching. I think I understand what you are saying, I don’t have time to block out every imperfection that might come through in the audio, I’d never get any videos done otherwise lol. I will on occasion apologize if wind is really bad in the background if it affects the audio quality of what I am trying to say. Have a good one thanks again

    Things sure have changed on the excavators. I worked in the excavator group for 4 years. Then the excavator models were the 215C, 225C, 235C and 245C. Lost my job in 2012 and I was part of the forest products group. Miss dealing with those machines.

    😀Great works! thank you for your video. In the Stick Steering mode, Is the steering speed different when the left joystick is operated in the 1 o'clock direction and when it is operated in the 3 o'clock direction?

    • @ironman3406
      @ironman3406  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching great question. When I’m stick steer mode the joystick acts just like it does in a skid steer. If you go full strike on the joystick in any direction you get full flow to the track motors, you can modulate your speed by feathering the joystick to go slower and give less flow to the track motors. I hope that answered your question.

    Wouldn't it be helpful to be able to move the left stick up or back to also cancel the cruise control (vs finding a small button on the stick)

    • @ironman3406
      @ironman3406  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question, you can do it either way. When you are in cruise control mode if you touch the joystick ahead or back it will cancel the cruise. Thanks for watching

    Good video!
    I'm questioning the implementation from CAT a bit though. They use the left joystick to control the tracks and move some of the functions of the left joystick to rollers on the two joysticks. Why not just have the track function on the rollers like other manufacturers do and have the functions of the joysticks as they are, that would be more intuitive and would enable you to more easily move around and use the functions of the excavator at the same time. The stick and rotation on the rollers isn't very intuitive.
    EDIT: Saw a CAT video on one of their wheeled excavators and there they are using the left roller for steering, which is the norm. No idea why they decided to do it differently on their tracked excavators, perhaps their different depertments refuse to speak to each other and there is a prestige thing and they can't do the same as the wheeled department. Really odd.

    • @ironman3406
      @ironman3406  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can’t really speak to the why but here’s what I suspect. Cats Joystick steer was first developed for the mini excavator line. Most guys with a mini excavator also have a skid steer. You steer and drive a skid steer with the left joystick - I suspect it had something to do with that familiarity between the two. It was added to the larger excavators after it went over so well on the minis.
