I always also pack a “packable”, reusable nylon shopping bag in my park bag. Lightweight and small but sometimes I just need another bag for a wet umbrella/poncho, leftover food, or even to carry a few small bags of Disney purchases. The plastic Disney bags make my hands sweaty and the Disney reusable bags are a bit too bulky to carry in a small backpack.
When at the parks I only wear cargo capri's. I can stash so much stuff in the leg pockets its insane. And don't have to go through bag check. I'm talking rain poncho's, wallet, small first aid kit, and charger for my phone. When we were taking our 4 kiddo's we swore by jansport backpacks. Lifetime warranty and extremely light.
I’m coming back over a year later to say that I absolutely love my Kipling bag! My mother (my Disney Parks buddy) and I each got one and we have used them on several park trips now. They are lightweight, hold a lot, and are durable. I never worry about setting them it somewhere or getting in and out of rides. I outfitted my basic black bag with a few Little Mermaid/Vero Beach keychains and really love it. Thank you Jen!
I carry a ton, but I really need all of it! 1) Eye kit: if wearing my contacts I bring a pair of prescription sunglasses and a contact case filled with solution. 2) fabric rain poncho 3) my utensils: fork, spoon, chop sticks, silicone straw, and cleaning wand 4) wallet. I don't like charging to the room, and just in case a cocktail is calling to me. 5) sunscreen reapplied every 2 hours (I still burn) 6) first aid kit. I carry a custom kit, I'm an nurse 7) lipgloss 8) hand sanitizer 9) room in my bag for my big floppy crushable hat 10) phone 11) battery pack
Happy Pride Jen and thank you for getting the word out about the good work done by the Trevor Project. Thank you for your fundraising efforts on their behalf... You rock! This is a great topic. For the past 15 plus years I've used an indestructible waist pack that I use for hiking and Disney touring. It has two insulated, secure water bottle holders for quick access while on the move. The quick release buckle and compact size makes stowing your gear a snap while getting in and out of rides. I am unable to carry things on my back so my legs do all the work. Because it's designed to sit over your hips a quick lift and twist makes it easy to get things out of the multiple pockets while continuing to walk or stand in line. The only item that I add to your list is a small first aid kit which includes moleskin to address any hot spots on your feet to hopefully prevent any blisters from developing.
I totally agree about Loungeflys! I have one, but we don’t put a lot in it. I agree about the minimalistic aspect. Just so much easier to keep track of everything.
As someone who passed out on Star Tours at Disneyworld back in 2018, I use a Camel Bak backpack….. holds a half gallon of water and still leaves plenty of room for the other park necessities!
Once I found my Cotopaxi fanny pack... I quit looking. I can wear it multiple ways... as a fanny pack, slung over the shoulder like a purse, how I usually wear it is like a sling pack. But I also always try to carry in as little as possible, even with my kids. Wallet, phone, bandaids, sunscreen... Idk why I enjoy videos like this lol it makes me feel nosy wanting to know what other people carry in their park bags 😂🤷♀️
The one backpack that I LOOOVE is Loungefly brand, but it's a canvas bag! It has more space than the mini backpacks and it's easier to open and get your things as well, and they're also really cute
Finally someone said it! Not a loungefly girl either Jen. Also anyone else think they look rather odd on? I mean the prints are to die for but I feel like I am a giant with a backpack for a child. Oh well to each their own love what you love!
Thank you for the ideas! We are planning a park trip and a cruise trip next year and this gave me ideas. And I'm so proud of everyone and how much The Trevor Project will benefit from everyone's generosity. Great job, Jen!
Ugh…I feel the same about the Loungefly bags. I think they are the cutest things but they aren’t ideal for me. Also, they take up lots of room in my luggage (even when I tried to use it as a packing cube).
We still do the full day at the parks unless we get a 5 day or more pass. Love that little backpack - will need to get something like that for whenever we can get back to the parks again.
I agree about the lounge fly bags. I have 4 of them and only use them for local outings with my kids. I am also a bag expert 😃 My family does hydration packs in the park. They are just not cute so I have developed my own bag. It has hydration that connects to a regular water or soda bottle, a strap to secure ears, a pocket with laser cut holes to display pins and personalize your bag. A hidden compartment with a hammock that can be used to hold an extra sweatshirt or merch and it's the mini backpack shape but a little bigger than the biggest loungefly shape. It has 2 big pockets 2 side pockets and a pocket on the front. I am in the development stage. To me it's about looking cute and I am not into the wild and juvenile prints.
Great Video! We would always bring along several of the .99 disposable ponchos so that after the rain, we could just throw them away. In summer though, they are problematic due to humidity and sticking to you. So, we switched to umbrellas. We like them SO MUCH BETTER! And we are responsible users taking into consideration people around us. We lift them up high when squeezing through tight spaces! :)
@@sarahpaulukow8540 yikes! I guess they are feeling the squeeze with Pandemic. They were actually at Walmart! They are clear. But even if you get them and neatly fold up for storage, still cheaper than WDW.. :)
Love your video this is my favourite Kipling rucksack I have had one for over 10yrs now in a different print than yours. I'm from UK this style is called city pack they sell it in mini medium and extra large but the extra large doesn't have back zip security pocket.
Same here! I think Loungefly backpacks are just a hype & don't help for any theme park visit. They're cute, but.. I LOVE KIPLING! They are waterproof for rain and water rides. I put my pins on them & arrange them how ever I want 💕. I have a solid color backpack and a solid color small crossbody. I get lots of compliments from the Kipling bag with my pins!Just came from Hawaii & took it with Lilo & Stitch pins I also remove the pins.. and use Kipling for any trip!
Thank you for being honest about the Lounge Fly bags!!! I was going to break down and buy one because they are cute. I am too practical for that though lol …
I agree with you on the Loungefly bags. So many of them are so cute, but they're so impractical for the park. I only bring it if we're doing a half-day, and I know we're going back to the room. Otherwise, I use a regular size backpack, (Disney obviously) but I need the space for my comfort items. 😂
Love your pup. He reminds me of my son's out who died a few years ago....he was a lab/pit mix with a brindle coat. I absolutely loved that dog and still miss him.
I HATE ponchos too. Unfortunately when I tried a rain jacket on my last trip, I realized it wouldn’t work. I have to use a scooter and my lap got completely soaked. I just bought a nicer poncho that will cover my lap and won’t be as flimsy/sticky.
I’m currently trying to downsize from being an overpacker in the parks, and I just can’t commit to the loungefly size, because having a water bottle is the most important thing for me.
For me, only reason to redo makeup once it’s on would be as a protective top up (I have skin that burns very easily, so I keep my hat on and we’re good). You look fabulous all the time so it’s great to know you’re a set and go girl!
I always bring a sweatshirt or cardigan (depending on the time of year) in a ziplock bag, to keep it dry. Just in case it gets cold at fireworks time, or the air conditioning gets to be too much. I also bring a packable towel. Great to dry off after water rides or rainstorms, also great for padding on those horrible uncomfortable bench seats (especially Animal Kingdom) or put down on a hot or wet seat.
I know you posted this a long time ago but this helps me tremendously. I am going solo and this is exactly what I needed to watch feels like watching my mom if she made a travel video!
Thanks for this content Jen! I am used to going to the parks with kids and a stroller so packing for my solo trip will be different. I bought the Kipling Seoul Small backpack in the Frozen 2 pattern. Glad to hear you like that brand!
Thanks for the mini tripod recommendation. Just ordered from Amazon for a really good price, along with a phone holder and a selfie stick. Heading out on one of the Magic at Sea Staycations in August (so jealous Karen has just been on the tester cruise), and I’m hoping these will be good to take with for selfies with the characters socially distanced.
This was great, lots of giggles from me. I swear Apple knows when your iPhone is paid off and the battery doesn’t charge all the way anymore. Will be shopping for a new iPhone before the Italy trip and nice to hear about the quality of the mini. 💖
Great ideas! I bring too much sometimes. Everyone in my party calls my bag the Mary popping bag. And they have needed stuff I brought with me. But if it is hot and the park day will be long I need to pare down!
The loungefly Disney bag did work for me and surprised me. I bought two raincoats from Costco, folded them to the size of the back of the backpack and put each in a quart size baggie. It still gave me lots of room, I make me an RFID wallet that fits my credit cards, and one for bills. Sunglasses, readers, lipgloss, eye medicine. I’ll buy small things and if I get something larger I scout out where to get it and get it later in the day. By the way, I squeezed out extra air in the quart size baggies.
Time for my lunch break and... Yeah! A new video from Jen🎉 I love your honesty and 100% agree the perfect bag for one person may not work for another. I also find my perfect Disneyland bag is a smaller Cross body bag but for WDW I need a backpack - but small and carry about as much as you (just swap video equipment for extra snacks 😝)
Oh ok, twist my arm… I “had to” run to Macy’s this morning to pick up the Kipling city pack for our Disney trip tomorrow, lol. I just packed it up and so far, I love it! Totally agree on the loungefly bags, they are so uncomfortable. I even have a few of the canvas ones that are larger, but I’m always so worried that I’m going to ruin them; I needed something I can put on the ground or get wet or sticky (kids) or smoosh under the stroller, etc. I think this bag will be perfect! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
Yes a bad bag at the parks is just as bad as the wrong shoes - we love our Loungefly bags for dinner out at Disney and even just a purse at home. My current park bag is a Youth size Disney backpack from Pottery Barn Teen
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video. I had a loungefly backpack in my cart to the tune of £70. I would have been so disappointed if I had wasted my money.
My bag has to be small. Big bags in the heat make me extra sweaty. I will take breaks at the hotel mid day and carry less in the park. Sometimes just a small crossbody if I can.
Hi, new subscriber! A few days ago I bought a crossbody Kipling bag (Aisling) for my upcoming Disney trip. It's perfect because I don't like a lot of compartments either.
I haven't gotten into Loungefly for that reason; I am looking for a back pack that is water/sweat proof so I don't sweat under my arms and my back when walking around the parks! LOL
I don't usually comment on videos. I've been watching g you about two years. You really helped learn the in and puts of DVC on order for us to buy last year. I just wanted to say thanks for this video. I have a loungefly and really liked it on our last trip. The trip before there was a slightly scary loading situation with a regular size backpack on Space Mountain. I don't have the smallest calves. The only con to loungefly bag is my husband doesn't do squishy shoes and I still carry a pair for my youngest too. I really didn't have enough room for 3 pairs of flip flops in the loungefly. So I found a kipling medium on sale and decided to order. I think this might actually be perfect it looks like it should hold up to the rain it's not huge but I'll have enough room for everything. Thanks!
I have a Kipling small Annic that converts from a backpack to a crossbody purse and I loveeee it. It's one of my most used bags just in every day life too. I do find it to be a tad bit small sometimes so I'm looking at perhaps buying a larger version. Sadly I think they discontinued the Annic style and I have regrets about not buying a larger one earlier. Depending on how crowded things are I get paranoid about backpacks in terms of it's very easy for someone to steal your stuff. So I like to have it crossbody during rope drop and such so I have it on the front of my body and I can hold on to everything, then I convert to backpack later. It's also nice to have the crossbody option for when my back gets quite sweaty ahha. I love the nylon fabric Kipling uses though and my bag has held up so long over the years. I take the little monkey off and I use that ring to loop my hand sanitizer on (I did this pre-pandemic too, it's just nice to have it on the outside of my bag for sticky hand emergencies). My preferred sunscreen method is to get the spray kind, go stand in the shower, and then spray the heck out of my body. Fumes stay in the bathroom and like you said you get great coverage! Then just let it dry for a couple minutes before getting dressed haha.
I hate the ponchos too, but I need a scooter for the parks and two ponchos cover me and the scooter so we don’t have to stop and take cover when it rains. Our last trip my daughter also climbed on between my feet under the poncho when it rained.
I love me a good park bag video! 🥰 Marc use to carry a huge bag but for the most part I’ve always carried a small backpack and it’s held everything I need!! I don’t think a crossbody would work for me. I love your Kipling bag pattern.
The Kipling bag is definitely one of the Citypack range. There are a few different sizes in the range. I use the largest on the back of my scooter in the parks, and the smallest (the mini) as a handbag/purse. They really are the most functional of the Kipling backpack designs. I particularly like the extra flap over which some of the other types don’t have. Just that extra security.
I've never really understood the fascination with Loungefly backpacks. Cute, just not practical imho. Great vlog. You have such a knack for getting valuable details into a concise format! I'm learning so much- Thanks!
Love the bag.I’m debating on getting a Vera Bradley mini backpack for the parks. I’ll decide once I see them in person in august. I recently had to buy a new power bank because my daughter dropped mine in the pool 😡😡😡 so I decided to get a solar rechargeable one on Prime Day with 260000mzh (or whatever it is). I figured that would recharge my phone and 3 fans and I can hang it on my backpack so the sun could just keep it full of power
I love Kipling bags. Their medium backpacks have been a fav of mine since my kids have been toddlers and needed less stuff but having a hands-free bag was still essential. At the beginning of last year I got an adorable Frozen 2 backpack from Kipling and then had a couple trips canceled and haven’t gotten to use it yet. But I know it will be perfect for my stuff and a bit of the kids’ stuff.
A couple years ago on a MNSSHP day rope drop to end of party, we walked over 16 miles. That day, thankfully, I only did a fanny pack worn on my side hip. Regular days, though, I like a bag the size of the one you prefer.
Hiiieeee Jenn.. Hiiieee Jenns puppy.. I am still working on what my fave bag would be.. I have tried several different types of bags... This next trip I plan on simplifying it and minimizing... Great video idea...TFS
@@JenLefforge Unfortunately for my bank account I’ve found many bags that work for me 😆 I love that you said this is what I BRING, allowing that everyone has different needs.
I always try to carry minimal stuff into the parks with me, but my husband would tell you that's because I just hand it all off to him to carry. For me, it's less that carrying a bag makes me sweaty (I'm going to sweat anyway, it's Florida), but more that I *stress out* about getting my bag stowed and secured in time before rides start. What I've started doing is wearing what I call "adventuring pants" instead- usually knee length or longer, technical fabric so I stay cool, and with lots of pockets. I can usually find them at the Eddie Bauer Outlet or Costco for $20 or less. Best part: pockets don't count as bags, so I can skip the bag line at security!
Great video as usual Jen. I would love to hear a Real Talk with you on filming while in the parks. I watch a lot of TH-cam videos where creators are filming in very public places (such as Disney) and I wonder how they do it 1. Respectfully without being too loud or disruptive to others and 2. confidently without feeling strange talking into your phone or camera with a bunch of others around. I would love to film more in public but I want to do it right. Any suggestion?
I so love this because I have the hardest time figuring out what exactly I need! I’m an asthmatic so I do have to have those items - but I’m trying to down size. I love your Alice in Wonderland bag!
Oh my your such a breathe of fresh air… So down to earth, and normal.. I’m from the Uk and pack-a-Mac is something I never go anywhere without one…I also HATE those stinking ( your right they do stink!) ponchos. Mine is a trespass…. Love that size of bag…..I’m a “ let’s pack everything “ person, but usually I need some of it..or someone else I’m with dose… Brilliant video… Ps found you a few weeks ago via Jens Happy Home 👍
What a cute bag and it is definitely something that goes into long discussions: which bag are we taking? Although having a stroller means you can add 23943 other things you may or may not use! I also agree with LoungeFly bags are SO CUTE and so not what I can deal with!
I think I've just ordered this bag. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same one or the smaller version maybe? Sadly no disney prints on the UK website but I did get a coral and black flower print for half price £38 ($52) which is still a lot for me to spend on a backpack but I do love the kipling brand and while I might not have a disney trip it seems like it will work well for an upcoming trip / every bag.
@@rofuar2k2 technically no, but the nylon dries very quickly. I haven't had any issues with the contents getting soaked, but I also bring plastic bags for my phone on water rides! No issues using in the rain!
I love my Loungefly bags! Don’t make me hot, aren’t heavy, hold all I need, and have done AMAZING in rain!
Yes so many people do! They just don’t work for me but sounds like you’ve found your bag!
I always also pack a “packable”, reusable nylon shopping bag in my park bag.
I love your personality! Your wheeze laugh sounds just like mine a girl we were wheezing together!
I adore you!!
I love someone who can teach and make me laugh!
I HATE ponchos too!!
Ty, and i’m on a scroll through your videos!
LOL
@@genxkay358 thank you for this tip!!! I just checked these out , so adorable!!! ❤️
Jen you cracked me up in this video! Loved this one!
Taking my lounge fly but I have got out the Kipling too handy hints thanks
Thanks!
I have a huge collection of kipling bags they are the best!!
I always use a Longchamp bag for Disney( the backpack or the small sized Le Pliage). They are lightweight and waterproof.
My daughter is trying to find a new perfect park bag. This video is great timing.
Awesome! I'm so glad!
Is the size in the video the small of the mini?
Thank you! This video was so great to watch! You're so funny! Appreciate the helpful tips!
I stumbled upon this video looking for a Disney bag - I have a bin full but no go to. Very helpful!!! So much so, I subscribed! ☺️
Welcome! So glad you're here! And yes, this is now the only one I use. took a minute to get to that point!
Oh this is brilliant, I always overpack because "I may need it" what are your thoughts on umbrellas and spare socks for wet weather?
Umbrellas aren't really my thing and if it's going to really pour I will usually wear my water proof shoes (that don't require socks) great questions!
Water proof shoes? Tell me more.
I've never really understood the fascination with Loungefly backpacks. Cute, just not practical imho. Great vlog. You have such a knack for getting valuable details into a concise format! I'm learning so much- Thanks!
What a nice comment! Thank you!
I love the smell of L'Oréal lipsticks. Kind of grandma but in the best way! 💄 Loving your videos, btw! 💕
Here for the poncho hate!!! And as a loungefly lover this makes me sad but youre so right, theyre hard to get into!
They are adorable, no question!
Love that, Kari! Brilliant!
I can't wait for you to be able to use that bag!
A couple years ago on a MNSSHP day rope drop to end of party, we walked over 16 miles. That day, thankfully, I only did a fanny pack worn on my side hip. Regular days, though, I like a bag the size of the one you prefer.
Yeah, if I go TOO SMALL I end up regretting what I don't have! And 16 miles holy cow . . .
Yes for Trespass! I'm from Glasgow, Scotland where Trespass was founded and is still based, great jackets!
truly great bags!! Love that!
I love your energy!
Hiiieeee Jenn.. Hiiieee Jenns puppy..
I am still working on what my fave bag would be.. I have tried several different types of bags... This next trip I plan on simplifying it and minimizing... Great video idea...TFS
Not mentioned, chafing cream for arms and legs if wearing a tank top and shorts. Wipes/ziplock bag ...you'll find a use trust me
I absolutely use Body Glide but don't generally need to reapply it during the day so it doesn't go in my park bag. Great tip!
"It's a skill." LOL! Good skill to have!
Yay! I love park bag videos! Thank you! I’m a loungefly lover because they fit on my frame nicely, but loving that Kipling.
It's all about what fits YOU, right? I know so many women that LOVE them! So glad you found a bag that works for you!
I’m going to Disney in July, so I’m binging videos like this. We are going to be there for 8 days i think, so I’m trying to find the essentials
Just found your page and... I LIKE IT!
Awesome! Thank you!
The lounge fly bags hurt my shoulders all day in the park but they are so cute
Just love your videos! Helpful and boy you crack me up! Thanks for your time..
I so love this because I have the hardest time figuring out what exactly I need! I’m an asthmatic so I do have to have those items - but I’m trying to down size. I love your Alice in Wonderland bag!
Ooh hope we are in Disneyland at the same time!! :)
The great unpleasantness💕💕💕
What's your opinion on cooling towels for the park? We're going in July.
I’ve used them in the past and they work well!
Oh my your such a breathe of fresh air…
So down to earth,and normal..
I’m from the Uk and pack-a-Mac is something I never go anywhere without one…I also HATE those stinking ( your right they do stink!) ponchos.
Mine is a trespass….
Love that size of bag…..I’m a “ let’s pack everything “ person,but usually I need some of it..or someone else I’m with dose…
Brilliant video…
Ps found you a few weeks ago via Jens Happy Home 👍
Thank you so much, Tracie!!! And I'm so glad you found me via Jen - she's a dear friend and a wonderful person!
What a cute bag and it is definitely something that goes into long discussions: which bag are we taking? Although having a stroller means you can add 23943 other things you may or may not use! I also agree with LoungeFly bags are SO CUTE and so not what I can deal with!
I also have this bag I love Kipling bags
Team naked sunscreen application! I hate when I get it on my clothes, so pre-slathering is the way to go.
Right?!?! I'm also much more likely to use the correct amount when I do it this way!
Just started following you and you have become my favorite You-tuber! So many great ideas and I love your humor!!!!!!
That’s so kind, Cindy, thank you!! And welcome!!❤️❤️❤️
I agree on so many levels
I have that same skill of getting chocolate one me every time I eat it LOL! I am on the hunt for a backpack for DH to carry at Walt Disney World.
I was in the parks in March and used my MZ Wallace mini metro tote..it's a very lightweight crossbody and is smushable
I like the technical term "smushable" and use it often. 😂❤️
Amanda Is the mz Wallace bag waterproof?
@@rofuar2k2 technically no, but the nylon dries very quickly. I haven't had any issues with the contents getting soaked, but I also bring plastic bags for my phone on water rides! No issues using in the rain!
