    Let us know how you prefer to set your press in FM23 in the comments?

    Omg. This video is the perfect example of what standard vs much more often does. Exactly what we talked about in the discord. I love how you are able to put this into a video so clearly! Super well done! Lovely vid! ❤️

    Really great video this. I like the idea of using the pressing slider balanced with player & opposition instructions which can allow you to balance maintaining shape with applying pressure, definitely seems the way to go

    • @TheManagersSeat

      It does seem like the opposition instructions can be a great way of tweaking the press to get it just how you want it

    Great insights, just come across this video and your other video ‘is pressing dead’ and they’ve got me reviewing all again my asymmetrical 4231 formation for Brighton. Wanted an aggressive pressing style with this starting with a pressing forward, however sometimes find games I dominate the opposite team gets that 1 goal that they don’t deserve and now I think it may be through my over aggressive pressing and player being dragged out of position. Great videos and in depth reviews. Thanks.

    Omg you LEGEND! Set my opposition settings accordingly, and they push like demons without the need for high intensity tactics now! Best tips I've had yet.

    This is an excellent breakdown and really helpful for tactical design. The main issue seems to be how black/white the slider dictates the players' behaviors. If pushed to the right, they will run around wildly and leave gaps when there's no need. If left in the middle, they won't tend to make the extra push when the situation calls for it. A human would adjust from time to time, but the slider dictates a strict behavioral response.

      Then use opp instructions to trigger the press just how you want it while maintaining your balanced press and team shape

    Question I'm always let with after these types go videos where you go from one extreme to the next is, of course players won't perform the style correctly, as there has be no time to train them in it, so they're aimlessly just attempting to do what is asked of them.
    I would love to see when a team has had a few months of one style, and then how they execute it, and the same save, but where they've been trained the other extreme and see what effect that has.

    I love these kinds of breakdowns, super informative stuff. I'd love to know how counter-pressing affects your pressing behavior. Is there any value to having it on if you are not playing a high press? How long and where does it affect where your players chase the ball before returning to their "normal" defensive behavior?

    • @TheManagersSeat
      @TheManagersSeat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think Llama is indeed planning on making a video analysing how players behave when counter pressing is used/nor used. Thanks for the suggestion!

    • @roastiez7843
      @roastiez7843 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always used much more pressing. If I'm pushing for promotion or a league title, I'll notice it's like clockwork, the last 10 games are like I have a different team, losing to bottom of the league, 4-0 up, then 4-5 down . Got a squad more than big enough, sometimes even 3 players in each position, and never playing people with fatigue. I don't even like playing people with high match load If I can help it.
      So I was convinced I was managing the loads properly, but this has got me thinking, why don't I drop the intensity towards the end of the season, cos there has to be a reason my seasons go to pot at the same time

  • @phnompenhandy
    @phnompenhandy ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Fascinating - more like this, please. How do you find lower league part timers compare to Arsenal in pressing?

    • @TheManagersSeat
      @TheManagersSeat  ปีที่แล้ว

      The willingness to press is probably similar, but the effectiveness may vary, as lower league players may not be as quick, as strong, as determined or have as good tackling

    • @phnompenhandy
      @phnompenhandy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheManagersSeat I find they don't have the stamina. I might press bigtime for the last half hour if I'm chasing the game and i think the oppo will tire.

    It can be frustrating to have players too high up the pitch when the press is set to more or much more. I guess if you are High Press as setting in the field it is useful to go Standard, at least in the lower leagues.

  • @pWndConan

    Imo the most important thing about good Gegenpress is having mentaly strong players with high "workrate", "determination","descision" and also "stamina". Just look how many Liverpool Players have high workrate and generell good mental attributes.
