RV Product Review: RV Lock Keyless Entry Handle

- RV Lock was kind enough to send us their V4.0 Keyless Entry Handle to try out and make this product review! We've had our eye on this lock for a while now, mainly because we like the idea of being able to give someone the code to our RV in the case of an emergency for our dog, Carmen. If we're out and can't get back in time we can now easily call the campground and ask them to remove Carmen from the RV :)
Also, in case you're wondering about the beeps the lock makes in the video, they do have a Silent Mode! If you hold the #1 button for 3-5 seconds until you hear a beep, it will turn off the sound. Simply repeat the process to turn the sound on again.

We have the same lock and love it!! We learned watching another video by "All about RV's" that if you press and hold the 1 on the keypad, it will stop the loud lock and unlock beeps. Then you aren't announcing to your neighbors that you are leaving the RV 😀.

Haha yes we found out about the Silent Mode from the company after we filmed the video. We've since turned our beeps off and it's been a lot nicer. We added that tip in the description box in hopes some folks would see but nothing beats saying it in the actual video! Thanks for adding the tip here in the comments!
My camper came with this & it's great. Stop at the beach and not have to worry about keys. I did take mine apart and install a piece of weatherstrip over the little speaker. I like the beeps but don't like broadcasting to the entire campground. Thanks for sharing!

That's great! I'm sure you'll love it. We learned a tip after recording this video, you can turn off the beeping (some people think it's too loud) by pressing the 1 button for 10 seconds. Press it again for 10 seconds if you want to turn it back on 👍 Hoping your retirement comes soon so you can hit the road! Happy travels!

They work great. We’ve had one for a couple of years. We did have one fob fail after a year. One suggestion is to keep the physical keys somewhere outside the RV such as in the truck in case the battery dies in the lock.
That's true! We did end up putting one of the keys in the truck just in case.

Thanks for the instruction on installing the RV Lock. I'm REALLY considering purchasing one of these for a couple reasons, our travel trailer door has a tendency of popping opened after it is locked. Once we get camping I especially don't want our dogs to push the door opened either. Love the key fob as well!! Just need to ask if it will fit our 2013 Coachmen Catalina Santara 272BH.
Seems like they should include the water tight gasket in the kit. Especially if it’s a common issue. But any any rate we still plan on getting one of these. 😁
Yeah, I can see your point. However not everyone needs one, I think certain manufacturers are known to need one more than others. It's a pretty cheap piece too so we didn't mind having to pick it up ourselves 😊Let us know how you like yours once you get it installed!

Though it’s entirely dependent on having wifi, it would be super cool to have a HomeKit enabled one that you could unlock with your phone.

We installed and RV lock back in May 2018. One thing we noticed was that when the batteries got weak the remotes stopped opening the door, however we could still punch in our code. Definitely keep a spare key hidden in the truck in case you need it to get into the unit. We found the door didn't latch/close as easily once we installed the lock. We always had to give the door and extra push to close it. We even adjusted the catch plate on the door frame and it didn't help. Did you experience the same problem?
Yes, we did end up putting a spare key in the truck as a just in case. We still have one on our keychain too since I still have my keys in my purse. We did have some resistance when we installed it but after we moved the catch plate on the door frame it fit well again. Maybe if you guys got a wider catch plate from Home Depot that might help?
We plan on getting RVlocks just so we have everything keyed alike. I'm not sure we need the keypad or remote though.
Do any of you get two locks since you have 2 doors? If so, will they be the same key?
We have been wanting one for a while. Especial after a few months ago somehow the dogs got locked in the 5th wheel with the keys!!!! We still aren't sure how this happened but the spare was inside too!!! We keep the spare in the truck now. Someone else's camper key fit our door after an hour of panicking.
How scary!! That's really lucky you found someone in the campground with a kit that fit. We had someone in a campground a few months ago knock on our door and ask if we'd test our key on their Solitude because they had locked themselves out! It didn't fit (and they didn't have pets inside thankfully) but they ended up having to call a locksmith. That was the day I started getting nervous about doing the same thing lol. But thankfully now having the RV Lock has gotten rid off that fear 👍

Good lock from the reviews, but unfortunately RVlock does not make one for the most popular/used entrance door lock in the market. Replacement for the TriMark 030-0900 found on most Fleetwood's, Newmar's and Tiffins.
We have a 395M, do you know if there different locks based on what model RV you have or are they a one size fits all?

The RV Park or camp host would likely have a key anyway. Virtually all RVs use the same key.
We have seen too many people locked out and noone else's key would open their rig.
Unfortunately it does not seem to work for a Class A with the door in front of the axle.

Why don't they include the sticker with the lock purchase? Seems sketchy that you spend $250 on a lock? Then if it doesn't fit correctly you have to order a $14 sticker.

We didn't actually. With the gasket, it had a good seal.

Discount code doesn't work
RVLOCK is just a re branded name. I got the excact same thing under a different name , same parts and everything for half the cost. Just look for SAFETYON rv lock on amazon and save half the cost. I've had mine for over a year now.
Hi! RVLock is the original manufacturer of keyless locks for trailers and RVs, not just a re-branded name. The lock sold by Chinese knockoffs on Amazon is not our product and is a plastic version of the locks we produce. It doesn't come with the same features as ours and the majority of customers tell us it isn't as reliable.
Is the back plate plastic or metal
Yes it is plastic, but it's definitely sturdier than the lock that came from the manufacturer.

We have been wanting one for a year now and they are having a end of summer referbished sale so we are thinking of picking one up and decided to watch your video again for a refresher on it before we buy. Quick question any idea what the difference is between the one you have and the smaller more compact one? I kind of like that one better but want to make sure there's no major differences. The company said it's more for rigs with large glass windows which we don't have. Same door as yours, different model solitude though. And thanks for the gasket info. Forgot about that!
@@macc3936 thank you! The smaller one is shorter in width (4.5" compared to the one we have, which is 5.5") so it might not fully cover the hole from the old lock. You might want to remove your current lock and measure the hole before ordering the compact one, just to make sure it'll fit!
