    we bought a Carmtek 10 digits rv door lock .When we shut the door there is a steady alarm in the door lock , after removing the battery it shut it off. there is no mention of a alarm in this door lock.

      We have the 8 digit door lock and love it, never had any issues. The only thing I could suggest is to contact Carmtek directly to see if they know what the issue is. Really sorry I couldn't help but hopefully Carmtek can.

    How did you know that the extra 1/2" or so needed to come out of the bottom, and not the top?
    Looks like a quality product.

      Hey Frank, great question. I removed the old lock and tried to install the new lock by lining up the screw holes from the faceplate to the new lock. I could see the bottom of the lock would hit the door. After that it was as simple as using my Dremel tool to cut out about 3/16 of an inch from the door.

      @@RiversToRidgesRV That thar was my question exactly. I'm ordering this same lock and my door is at 3.5, so I need to cut a quarter inch. But I'll have to use my American ingenuity and U.S.M.C. Field Artillery "just make it work" experience as you did. Git 'er done!

      We added this type of door lock (a different brand) and love the convenience. We quickly began just using the keypad instead of the fob - one less thing to carry around. We do keep a spare fob and key in our truck.

    What was the thought process in choosing the 8 digit key pad over the 10?

    • @RiversToRidgesRV
      @RiversToRidgesRV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @rdance3, Carmtek sent us the 8 digit key pad locks for review, so we didn't have the option. We love the locks they sent us and I'm sure we would be just as happy with the 10 digit lock. The 8 digit lock is less expensive.

    Why do they keep making these door latches with the total garbage wafer locks? They can be raked open just about as fast as using the key. Won't somebody please make one that uses a standard key cylinder so I can actually make my trailer secure?

      We understand what you're saying Tim. As we've always been told, if someone wants in bad enough, they're going to get in no matter what. Hopefully it's enough to keep an honest person honest.
      Thanks for writing in.

    If you are trying to change the code and mess up, how do you start over? 1,2,3,4 doesn't work now and the new code doesn't work.

    • @RiversToRidgesRV
      @RiversToRidgesRV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @user-rm7yn6tq6w I just looked at the instructions again, this is straight from the manual:
      *Note:* If you're having problems programming your new code you may need to do a factory rest by pressing the "code reset" button (on the back of the handle) with a paper clip and keeping it pressed for 7 or 8 seconds. Then you can start the programming steps again.
      *Note:* Once the factory reset has been done the remote FOBs will also need to be reprogrammed.
      *Programming Steps*
      STEP 1: Keep the "8" button pressed for 3 or 4 seconds
      STEP 2: Type in the default code "1234" and press the "LOCK" button
      STEP 3: Type in your New Code and press the "LOCK" button
      STEP 4: Confirm the New Code and press "LOCK" button
      Hope this helps you

      @st6795 Sorry to hear that. We've had ours for over a year now and never had an issue. We have them on both of our doors. We don't use the key fobs, we only use the keypads on the locks to enter or lock-up. Do you mind if I ask what issue you were having?
