Micky is like a dad, a father figure to Rocky so when Micky is yelling at Rocky after he took his locker away it's just a father's disappointment in his son wasting his potential. A lot of people thought Micky was just trying to suck up to when he got a shot, he was honestly trying to look out for his best interest.

Here’s a little bit of trivia: When Rocky is complaining that the poster mixed up the colors or his shorts, that was from a real mixup from the poster maker for the film’s production. So, they decided to acknowledge the mistake in that scene, which I feel really adds to the character and realism of the film.

What gets lost is all the characters are real. When Rocky rejects the offer to fight Apollo everyone is like of course you do. He gives a real reaction you would give. I am an amateur and you want me to fight the best in the world? The whole movie's look and feel you can relate to and I think that is why the movie and the characters endure.

When I was a kid I would watch Rocky IV over and over again as Dolph Lundgren was once my idol. As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate the other Rocky's more. For all its goodness IV was predominantly just a montage Picture.

The entire "Rocky" series is, and always will be, the best collection of "chick flix" that us men aren't embarrassed to admit liking. Because in reality they are well written romance dramas, they just happen to contain a little boxing.

I can’t wait for Rocky II. It’s sooo good.
For the record, there are 6 Rocky movies 1-5 and Rocky Balboa (6).
There is also a director’s cut of Rocky 4 (I believe it holds up to time a little better) but everyone should see the theatrical version first.

I’m glad we can see the movie now, your first reactions like “The Empire Strikes Back” were unwatchable because of the distortion, but you were figuring it out. This one is excellent. Watching you, I kept thinking you reminded me of someone, then I realized it’s the character Whitley from the tv show “A Different World” a Cosby Show spinoff that was on in the 90’s, except you don’t have a southern accent. Hey, just found your channel. I see you have a pic of De Niro as Max Caddy in "Cape Fear" in your banner. Definitely do that movie if you haven't seen it yet! We need way more reactions to that movie. Also, I see you're a musician! Hope you do something music related. "This Is Spinal Tap" is not only a classic comedy that musicians can quote endlessly....but it's only a hour and 25 minutes! Or 1985's super classic "Amadeus", Best Picture winner, fantastic movie, super mindblowing (and inspiring) for any musician.......You're a producer? Paul Dano as Brian Wilson in "Love And Mercy" has some of the best recording session scenes in any movie I can think of. Angela Bassett as Tina Turner in "What's Love Got To Do With It" is incredible, as is Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn in "Coal Miner's Daughter". The Beatles' first movie, "A Hard Day's Night" is a classic comedy that basically invented the music video. And "Singin' In The Rain" is the most entertaining movie and best musical ever, and I don't usually like musicals. You play sax? I wouldn't normally say "Bird" with Forrest Whittaker, or "'Round Midnight" with Dexter Gordon (Dexter Gordon acting!), but with you, I'd definitely check out reactions to those. DEFINITELY at least put "Spinal Tap" and "Amadeus" on your list, you can see that other reaction channels have done them....but we need way more. I'm much more interested in variety than seeing the same movies reacted to over and over again. PS: Another GREAT movie for music producers is "24 Hour Party People" about the Manchester music scene of the 80s, has some hilarious recording session scenes.

So many fun facts about this movie. At the time Rocky was written, Slyvester Stallone only had $106 in the bank and his wife was pregnant at the time. Producers liked his story so much that they'd offered him six figures for his screenplay rights. But Stallone wouldnt accept any dollar amount unless he played the part of Rocky. Stallone was so confident in his screenplay that he would risk everything. Producers even added to the six figures offered totaling over $250k if Stallone would just walk away but he'd still refused. United Artists eventually agreed to cast Stallone but he'd only received $20k for the part.
Someone else had already brought it up but the lead singer in the street corner is Slyvester Stallone's brother, Frank. He is also seen again @ 30:10. Butkus the dog was actually Stallone's but before Rocky, Stallone was so broke he was forced to sale Butkus and was deeply depressed. After the success of Rocky he'd payed thousands of dollars to buy the dog back. The only true star of Rocky was Mickey played by Burgess Meredith would had been active since the late 20s and played The Penguin in the old Batman series during the mid 60s. Stallone's mob boss was Gazzo, played by Joe Spinell would go on to be godfather to Slyvester Stallone's son in real life. And the bell ringer ending the fight toward the end of the movie was Stallone's father.
In the end, after a $960k budget, the movie was a total success reaching over $220 million dollars at the box office and giving 'Rocky' the nod for best picture at the '77 Oscars and giving Stallone an Oscar nomination for the role of Rocky. This would open up giving more rights to Stallone as he'd received the nod to not only write the sequel but also direct it. Rocky II would be released three years after the first movie. Til this day, one of the main reasons why Rocky is so beloved by many including women is that before watching many think of the movie as your typical sports movie but it isnt. It is more of a love story and the character development between a man and a woman who found and supported each other. Actual fighting only occured at the beginning and end of the movie with character developement in between. So onto Rocky II, Reemnok! Enjoy the rest of the franchise. And by the way, you are very beautiful 😃

A few more facts….the banner with him in the red trunks was really a mistake but they didn’t have the budget to fix it so they leaned into it. Again because of the low budget, him running through the streets, those aren’t actors, they were real vendors and was just gorilla style filming following Stallone with a camera. The director wanted to cut the scene with him in bed the night before the fight talking with Adrian and was done on single take because Stallone refused to let it go feeling it was crucial to Rocky’s motivation for the fight so the director finally gave in but only allowed one single shot at it.

With inflation adjusted, Rocky got paid the equivalent of 228 dollars. Sound better than 40...but I'd never willingly get my ass kicked for 200 bucks. 20 grand, I'll step into the ring with Mike Tyson. (It's not gonna last long) but for 200 bucks? I wouldn't risk WWE wrestling these days for that little cash.

U really should watch any documentary on how this got made!! Broke, almost homeless, sold his dog...for real!😮...wrote the script in 3 weeks. Was asked big money(back then) to sell it, but not star in it. He always said no. Finally sold it for 30k to ABC TV. He was good friends with and done a movie a few years prior, with Henry Winkler. He became THE STAR of😊 abc tv in the show Happy Days, as the Fonz. He heard Stallone sold the script to ABC. Henry goes to the ABC heads and says, u don't GIVE me that script, I leave the show....they gave it to him! Stallone never made a ton of money on the rockymovies. Only as a writer actor choreographer. He got ripped off by the first producer, who bought the rights and rocky name, and never sold it back to Stallone, though he's made billions! Based on a real tune up fight, for Ali. He was going to fight Frazier later in the year, for the title, but he wanted a tune-up fight. He fought against Chuck Wepner, a journeyman tomato can bleeder, who was good, but never top 10 ranked. And he damn near knocked Ali out!😮 The guy singing outside, is his real brother Frank!😮 The first guy he fights in this movie, Spider, shows up in Rocky Balboa or Creed! The teenage girl he talks to, also comes back in one of those movies! Adrian is the sister in godfather!😮😮 Stallone almost died in 4, because Drago, actually cracked his ribs, puntured a lung, punctured his heart sac! Drago in real life, has multiple masters PhD in engineering! The blonde wife of Drago, shows up in Creed 2 and so does Drago, and Stallone actually married that woman, and had beautiful daughters with her! Tommy Morrison in part 5 was a real boxer and could have been the greatest ever, but drugs and booze got him. In 3 Clubber got the role, by winning a Tough man contest! In 3 hulk Hogan, hit Stallone for real in the back of his shoulders with his forearm, and moved vertebrae. Dennis Quaid did a amateur tough guy boxing movie, kind of based on the Clubber Lang actor, that was very good, called Tough Enough! and busted his lip open! There was never going to be a 2, but this movie made so much money, win Oscars, etc., Stallone wrote a sequel! When he was accepting an Oscar for this movie on stage, Ali comes up, grabs him, fakes punches at him and says, "u stole this movie idea from me!" Paulie has done a couple other great movies, Rob the Mob, and Pope of Greenich Village! Adrian is part of the Coppola family.... Francis Ford, Nick Cage, Sophia Coppola... maybe her daughter! What 1 and 2 are really, the ultimate love story! U can go see the Rocky statue in Philly! The mistake of colors he's wearing, in the auditorium, was due to a mistake and money problems, so they kept it in, and had the dialogue reflect this! Watch all but u can skip 5, finish the Rocky series, then go to Creed! The Great fight ever... middleweight Ray...boom boom Mancini vs Duk ku Kim,... outdoors, Caesars palace. Outdoors. Went the distance. Slug fest. Kim died in the ring. He fought the last round with a busted blood vessel in his brain. Fights went to twelve after that.

Just finished watching, I enjoyed your reaction, it’s long for a reaction, which is great!
The reason Micky tells Rocky to “stay down” towards the end of the fight after Creed knocks him down, is because sometimes when a boxer gets knocked down the referee doesn’t start counting right away, but is busy making sure the other boxer takes the opposite corner, so Rocky can stay down a few more seconds before the count begins. I’ve seen this in professional boxing as well.

I believe in your creed reactions you had mentioned you had watched the rocky films with your dad. How was it watching this solo?

Rocky IV will be the tough one and anything Rocky brings back memories watching fights with my Dad. I get quite emotional afterwards so I'd have to say it's tough...and takes me a while to snap back... I miss him dearly. But despite the sadness the films so far that I've watched (1 & 2) are really really amazing.

This movie got a pretty good number of Oscar nominations at the time. It won for Best Picture, while John G. Avildsen won Best Director. Stallone got nominations for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay, Talia Shire (Adrian) got one for Best Actress, Burt Young (Paulie) and Burgess Meredith (Mickey) each got nods for Best Supporting Actor, while the song during the training montage, "Gonna Fly Now", got one for Best Original Song.

🎼When Rocky is starring in the mirror at his self as a kid, the name of the song playing in the back round. Is "Reflections"🎶 It also sounds like "Summer Madness" - Kool & The Gang. Been on my workout playlist for many years🏋‍♀🏋🏋‍♂

    1. Actually Rocky doesn't qualify as a Heavy Weight. He doesn't weigh enough.
    2. Adrian looks Way better without her glasses.
    3. Stallone kept the turtles and Butkus. The turtles are still alive. Butkus, he had to pawn off to make ends meet until this movie started to make 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
    4. You can't blame Rocky for working for the loan shark because he made more doing that than boxing. Gotta pay bills.
    5. $150,000 just to fight🤑
    6. I loved Burgess Meredith A good first time/share is the original "Clash of the Titans" with him.
    7. A good First time/share for Stallone is "Tango and Cash" with Kurt Russell.
    8. Welcome to this entertaining rabbit hole.
