I don’t nor have I EVER seen this as “modern play wrestling vs old school wrestling” I see this as GOOD Wrestling and Bad wrestling. A good match gets you interested in it. IE Steamboat and Savage at Mania Three. There is a list of these matches. Good matches happen in many eras and we’re done by the people capable of having them. Then there is the dumpster fire that is AEW and the trash that is modern WWE.

All three of you guys are correct. They had to keep coming up with ideas because they weren’t on guaranteed contracts like they are now. They made money based on how you drew. Today, they get a paycheck regardless, which is why you see so much “laaaaaazy booking”. That also has to do with the clowns these days thinking they know everything about the business so they don’t listen to the ones that do know how to draw money, how to have a match that people want to watch, so why have a Booker if they’re just gonna do whatever the fuck they want to do anyway? We finally got 2 different shows. AEW Collision for Pro Wrestling technicality and grounded storylines, while Dynamite is for the fun stuff and for fans to indulge in despite of how silly it could be sometimes.
Yeah, I am interested to see the roster for Collision. I expect FTR, ThunderRosa and alot of the other outcasts who were not in the EVP clique to be there. Its going to be interesting if that group on a Saturday starts to outdraw Dynamite on a Wednesday.
Honestly hoping it's Punk and Omega at the next ppv. Matty and Nicky can kick rocks but Punk and Omega could have a match. It'd be one of AEW's most anticipated matches ever for sure. Winner of Punk/Omega goes into a program with MJF with the other being the 3rd party in the situation.
They don’t mesh well. Kenny has the back and forth matches with no selling and high spots. CM punk is an actual wrestler, it wouldn’t work unless punk calls every minute of it.
Omega's been such a tremendous waste there since Punk debuted, which is when I started watching AEW. Don't know what he was like before then. Yes, he's been injured for a lot of it... but here's a guy that can actually have a singles match and is/can be a legit singles star in a company that's begging for singles stars if the 4 pillars angle is anything to go by, and they're tying him up in trios matches that nobody cares about and multi-man garbage wrestling matches. Or, even more frightening, this is something that he actually wants to do and it's his call to not be a draw for his own company to instead play in the sandbox with the children.
It doesn't matter if Punk comes back or not, if TK doesn't implement some type of leadership in that company then Collision is just going to turn out looking like the second hour of Rampage. Rampage started out strong with some good matches too, now, despite the enormous roster, we get Kip Sabian, Emi Sakura and Nyla Rose.

I absolutely LOVE Punk's work as a heel, and it would definitely play great with the mixed reactions he's getting. But I feel like there's already too many heels in AEW, and not that many tangible babyfaces. Aside from maybe Darby, Ricky Starks and Adam Cole, I don't see any babyface singles that could pull people in near the same level as Punk. They really dug themselves in a hole.

I started watching AEW before Punk and saw massive potential in the show, im a huge Punk fan and he completely had me hooked on tuning in week in week out and ultimately started enjoying the other stars like MJF, Hobbs, Darby, Miro, Andrade etc hell even Hangman until all this chaos after all out. Since Punk got screwed by the 'evps' the show has literally been held on MJFs back because the rest of the show isnt worth watching. Youd think us fan's would be a little more excited to see Punk come back, personally im a little excited but you know Tony will drop the ball and not book the angles that make the most sense, just like theyve buried their best babyface. I dont understand how all of the 'big stars' dont sell anything in the ring, its glaringly obvious to us fans. The show without people like Punk & MJF is night and day.

Of course, it got very mixed reactions, but had he not had Punk show up in Chicago for Collision things would have been far worse. A really funny thing happened during this show. During an early break on Fite TV, you get a splash screen with some theme music playing. They accidentally played a few seconds of Tony's announcement. Out of nowhere it was "Thanks guys." And another few words of it too. Best part of it? Now as long as he can beat the damn gout, he should be good. As far Phil Brooks' involvement in the company, I'm not positive that the middle school gymnists that are allegedly the EVPs, are gonna welcome him with open arms. In the best interest of the company, they'll need to understand that despite their best efforts, Punk is and will always be a top drawing talent and they'll always be mid card. The bar is very low in this company and any mark can be in charge and a billed as a top talent. There's about 30 wrestlers and 100 marks in AEW. It's actually less available when you factor in the injured. Company has a huge issue with wrestler safety (actually no real authority over immature wrestlers preventing them from killing themselves doing phony moves) and too much wasted juice. That's to name a few of many of the issues that the outlaw promotion that Turner operates, has. If this company had common sense organization and mature adults in charge, this whole CM Punk fiasco wouldn't have existed. And if an investigation needed to be done, it would have been comprehensive and thorough and everyone involved would have been interviewed. Complete transparency. Mature adults in charge, not money marks having a weekly wet dream for just 800k viewers a week.

I think Collision was Punk's idea. I think Punk said he was going to sue if they didn't let him take the serious guys and do his own show. If Punk wasn't in the driver's seat for all of this, that wouldn't give him control over the show after what happened. Punk is a legend.
You can really see that Cornette and Brian (by proxy) have slowly cooled on their distaste of Omega (which I agree with all the criticism). In the last few months Jim has had at least a few episodes where he doesn’t out and out curse the day omega was born like he used to do.

Honestly hoping it's Punk and Omega at the next ppv. Matty and Nicky can kick rocks but Punk and Omega could have a match. It'd be one of AEW's most anticipated matches ever for sure. Winner of Punk/Omega goes into a program with MJF with the other being the 3rd party in the situation.

I absolutely LOVE Punk's work as a heel, and it would definitely play great with the mixed reactions he's getting. But I feel like there's already too many heels in AEW, and not that many tangible babyfaces. Aside from maybe Darby, Ricky Starks and Adam Cole, I don't see any babyface singles that could pull people in near the same level as Punk. They really dug themselves in a hole.

I started watching AEW before Punk and saw massive potential in the show, im a huge Punk fan and he completely had me hooked on tuning in week in week out and ultimately started enjoying the other stars like MJF, Hobbs, Darby, Miro, Andrade etc hell even Hangman until all this chaos after all out. Since Punk got screwed by the 'evps' the show has literally been held on MJFs back because the rest of the show isnt worth watching. Youd think us fan's would be a little more excited to see Punk come back, personally im a little excited but you know Tony will drop the ball and not book the angles that make the most sense, just like theyve buried their best babyface. I dont understand how all of the 'big stars' dont sell anything in the ring, its glaringly obvious to us fans. The show without people like Punk & MJF is night and day.

Of course, it got very mixed reactions, but had he not had Punk show up in Chicago for Collision things would have been far worse. A really funny thing happened during this show. During an early break on Fite TV, you get a splash screen with some theme music playing. They accidentally played a few seconds of Tony's announcement. Out of nowhere it was "Thanks guys." And another few words of it too. Best part of it? Now as long as he can beat the damn gout, he should be good. As far Phil Brooks' involvement in the company, I'm not positive that the middle school gymnists that are allegedly the EVPs, are gonna welcome him with open arms. In the best interest of the company, they'll need to understand that despite their best efforts, Punk is and will always be a top drawing talent and they'll always be mid card. The bar is very low in this company and any mark can be in charge and a billed as a top talent. There's about 30 wrestlers and 100 marks in AEW. It's actually less available when you factor in the injured. Company has a huge issue with wrestler safety (actually no real authority over immature wrestlers preventing them from killing themselves doing phony moves) and too much wasted juice. That's to name a few of many of the issues that the outlaw promotion that Turner operates, has. If this company had common sense organization and mature adults in charge, this whole CM Punk fiasco wouldn't have existed. And if an investigation needed to be done, it would have been comprehensive and thorough and everyone involved would have been interviewed. Complete transparency. Mature adults in charge, not money marks having a weekly wet dream for just 800k viewers a week.

I think Collision was Punk's idea. I think Punk said he was going to sue if they didn't let him take the serious guys and do his own show. If Punk wasn't in the driver's seat for all of this, that wouldn't give him control over the show after what happened. Punk is a legend.

You can really see that Cornette and Brian (by proxy) have slowly cooled on their distaste of Omega (which I agree with all the criticism). In the last few months Jim has had at least a few episodes where he doesn’t out and out curse the day omega was born like he used to do.
I’ve been saying the same thing. Tbh I think Kenny probably handled the whole situation the best out of all parties involved. If true that he tried to get Larry out of the way of the fight, then that’s already a few points for Kenny. I think Omega VS Punk has major potential. At least Kenny looks like an athlete compared to the Buckaroos…
Cornette even said Kenny's work in Japan is better and more palatable than anything he's done in AEW besides that Danielson match. At this point, he considers Jon Moxley the absolute worst and really hates him.
@@SunshineStateCoasters yes, especially recently too. I think Kenny got back on the sauce to recover from his injuries and he’s in amazing shape appearance wise now. His work is the shits but he at least looks good and Danielson proved he can be carried.
