    I keep reading in the comments that the featureless faces are creepy. However, as a native Chicago girl these dolls remind me of the artwork of famed Chicago artist Annie Lee. I would love to see a scene from her work re-created. please check her out and hopefully you are inspired!!! great work as usual Toya!!

  • @RoseWaltz
    @RoseWaltz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    i was making dolls similar to this one - i would wrap the wire skeletons with quilt batting and stitch it down every now and then to keep it in place, then dress it with the skin and add fluff to the calves and hips as needed - they were smaller, though, about six inches, for a doll house - i think it would work on a larger scale
    your project makes me want to start sewing again!

    • @MyFroggyStuff
      @MyFroggyStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Wow!!! Thanks!!! I did try wrapping them but I didn’t think to stitch it down 🤦🏾‍♀️ I will try that next time, thanks for the tip 😃💕

    • @recoveringsoul755
      @recoveringsoul755 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyFroggyStuff I was wondering if you could make one with needle felting, but it's an advanced level extreme craft with the skeleton . Michael's used to sell fabric dolls, eyes, lips as patches you could sew in. I bought them and was too lazy to even do that much, ugh. I think they were about 18 inches though

    They turned out to be so adorable! You can always print one of Bella's paper doll patterns for the face to do an iron-on face. I think you could even resize the pattern to 1/4 scale, so that it fits infant clothes and shoes or 1/3 scale for Smart Doll vs!!!

    You're SO creative & talented! I wonder if you've ever considered doing a video about yourself~ How you got started, your education, if you were ALWAYS interested in crafts/ sewing/ dolls, etc. I just turned 60 & my Nana taught me to sew on her old treadle sewing machine when I was about four. We moved cross-country when I was 6, so she gave it to my Mom to bring with us. My four kids had never worn store-bought PJ's, so one Christmas they asked for them. They were so disappointed! They complained that they didn't fit right, they were "itchy" & they kept getting twisted around, LOL. By high school, all their friends were asking for "designer" clothes, AND to learn how to sew (both of my sons' friends, too). Recycling Thrift Store purchases was usually a lot cheaper than buying fabric, so we spent a lot of time at them & knew which ones had the best deals. I've made my daughters baby doll layettes, complete with mini-diaper bags, play pens, etc., but I was always too scared to try Barbie things. You've inspired me to brush off all my tools & get busy for my granddaughter. Thank You SO Much for ALL these AWESOME videos! You have an infectious positive attitude & great ideas and amazing skills!
    Many Blessings to You & Yours

    • @recoveringsoul755
      @recoveringsoul755 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow you make all your families clothing? Both my sister's really took to sewing, one made her own wedding dress even, the other made my daughters Halloween costumes . Had a bride dress that the dry cleaners commented on how well made it was all the seams were covered. Wish I had liked it more because I'm 5'10" and it's hard to find clothes that fit me. The men's dept is often easier for jeans and long sleeved shirts. My mom got patterns for Barbie clothes and made dresses for our dolls when I was little and I'm about your age. They were still selling Barbie patterns in the late 90's and early 2000s.

    I love this idea, they turned out so cute~! Here’s another one for a possible future project, take one of the stiff Barbie bodies with the all straight limbs and utilize it into a bendable one: cut the hands, feet and neck part(under the collarbone, so it won’t show through the clothes), poke holes in them and connect them to the end of a wired skeleton, glue on top, and dress the skeleton with a stuffed pattern copied from the proportions of the average Barbie body, dress in a cute pajama set(cutie reveal clothes!), and create your very own 1993 Bedtime or Slumber Party modern version of the doll!
