  • We walked many miles at SEMA this year and found a lot of cool companies. One of the good things about me is that I love finding companies that are the best at what they do. Rousseau is great at what they do. There were other companies we mentioned that intrigued me a bit, so now I have to go down the rabbit hole of checking out their catalogs as well.

    When I was a young mechanic apprenticed.. I wish I was taught that the most important thing to be taught was organization skills. 35 years later I still struggle with that. When I’m disorganized, it makes me feel like crap. Having my tools where I know they are when I need it…is key now. Having a system like you were teaching, I believe is key for any young mechanic!!

    The reason lots of people don't capture the runoff water in a drain is because once you catch it you are responsible for the safe environmental disposal but if you let it run down the driveway into the gutter it's totally legal.

    So pan the organizer did have the best cabinets after all
    We should get his take on the sonic vs the ROUSSEAU, since he has had the ROUSSEAU for a while now. In other videos, it seemed he liked the sonic better at the Hellen hosue and the organization and full package trumps what might be a slightly better built cabinet

    I was watching a video on Proslats Fusion Plus Cabinets and Core Toolboxes from SEMA and was hoping you had a chance to take a look at them. They seem to be well constructed with a nice amount of customization and the ability to change the skins to a different color in the future if you ever want to change the cabinet color. They also mentioned that the cabinet drawers will be available with an upgrade to the same Austrian glides that they have on the toolboxes beginning next year.

  • @robertmccall3795

    I think I really loved the ROUSSEAU cabinets as much as Matt. They are so darn nice. Loved the pull out versatile vertical drawers they had. I think a black trim and OG blue facings with the Hex logo on a stainless backsplash would be tight in a garage. If the tool organization in them would be like Sonics foam inlays, that would top it for me. Cmon Matty do this!

    Definitely get the koken nut grip and hex grip. Between my partner and I we have all the Koken sockets. You are gonna want the semi deep z or the regular koken because the z series regular are essentially a swallow in regular sockets

    @bert4910 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Don't forget the GTR!

  • @andru12qw
    @andru12qw 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Bought into Koken a few years ago. I love the z-series sockets but one thing to note is the shallows are extremely shallow. I went with the semi deep, and deep Z-series, as well as the shallow non z-series. The big positive side on the z-series is how tight they fit on a nut or bolt as well as the wall thickness of the socket itself. They are a little thinner and for this reason the deep wells can fit in very tight spots. So, since the fit is tight, it feels that much more secure when you are wrenching something down or torquing it to spec.
    Another thing on the deep wells. The shoulder on the inside of the socket is not too deep. So if you are fishing for the bolt blind, the nut won't fall down into the socket and make it harder to thread on.
    Finally, the non Z-series sockets and bits cover just about every option you could imagine. Their nut grip sockets that they have been releasing recently have also seemed to be pretty popular.

    Finally! Proslat. I said that years ago. Their cabinets are ok and expect damage, but the slatwall is the best for people who DO wanna hang stuff. But you should consider slatwall mostly for using it as a shelving system that you can reorganize when needed. Like for presol and kranzle etc. The whole power washing unit could be mounted to it if you wanted,instead of against sheetrock. But only aluminum. The plastic stuff is kinda low end. Easy to install and great margins. I became a dealer because I convinced two buddies and myself to buy enough to become a dealer.

    • @progression_decibel
      @progression_decibel 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your input - is Proslat system (or your honest opinion, any other brand's slats) compatible with most available brands accessories such as those from Gladiator, Craftsman, Kobalt, etc., etc.? I am in the market for a slatwall system but I find that each company has their own unique and useful hanging hooks and shelving. I'll butcher the build element but I think it comes down to the spacing in between each slat, something like 3" on center?

      @@ObsessedGaragewould recommend you consider checking out their 3 pH system for decontaminating a ceramic coating/paint in general. They were the first to bring an acidic shampoo to the market and 3-5 years later ceramic coating companies have discovered it’s an important product to have in arsenal and have created their own but it’s still not as good as Purifica. They will finally be available in the US. Labocosmetica is a very underrated company but they will become increasingly popular now that they have entered the North American market

  • @hashaampiracha3712
    @hashaampiracha3712 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    We as professionals do like to have exclusivity to some degree for coating. If anyone can install they won’t value your work as much. Not everyone thinks like Matt actually the vast majority doesn’t. When they hear pro only they trust you as you went through some sort of qualification to install a coating. I personally use artdeshine and kamikaze. Almost all kamikaze coating are able to be bought by consumers. So if you want pro grade coating without being a pro look at zipang 2.0.

    • @CryoPreservationAustin
      @CryoPreservationAustin 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pretty soon you will need to adjust your train of thought. And before I give my opinion, understand I own and audio visual company and believe in protection of the installers. But when it comes to auto detailing there is no protection. Pretty soon the every day guy will be able to go to autozone and buy a quality ceramic coating. As a pro you have to sell yourself on the quality of the paint correction you do. Cause the everyday guy isn’t gonna buy $2000 worth of polishers and pads and spend hours learning how to polish correctly. At the end of the day the coating is only as good as the preparation it’s laid on. Same reason people don’t paint their own cars. It isn’t the paint process that’s hard, it’s the 1000s of hours of prep that make the paint look good.

    • @timothywolleck7628
      @timothywolleck7628 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally disagree. I think that most car guys do think like Mat, especially the ones that follow his channel. They want the best products and we want to do as much work on our own cars as possible. That’s why people appreciate Mat doing the quality testing for us because we actually save money by buying only one product that works instead of several that don’t. Why would I ever buy a ceramic coating that I couldn’t apply myself. The labor that the pros are charging for applying a wipe on wipe off product is completely ridiculous. That being said a sucker with too much money is born every minute.

    • @timkinley1779
      @timkinley1779 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Some people just don't want to devote the time and money to do something they'd rather pay to have done. I pay for several services, by professionals, because I don't want to do it. Not because I can't. I do several vehicles weekly, because the owners are working their regular jobs.

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah man I totally get the why. Surface level it makes sense. My argument is that your customers aren't going to do what you do even with access to a product. Shoot, we can all buy the same polish and polisher that you are using. That's the hard part. The coating is the easy part. I just get frustrated with companies investing their life's work into something and then marketing it the exact same way as everyone else.
