Amazing ride! I really enjoyed the sound of the ladies voice commentating too. Nice :) (Ps. I just realised that the Safari web browser wont play this in 4k only 1080 but Chrome on a Mac will)
Passing so many massive detached houses. With one door. And I hear in Tokyo there's Japanese living and sleeping in tiny cubicles. Sleeping upright in what were/are internet cafes. I know where I'd rather live.
The blend of natural beauty and man-made beauty are marvelous! I appreciate the engineering that went into all of that infrastructure! Is this rail route more of a tourist line? It seemed like a tour guide was on this run. Her voice was beautiful.
It looks like a tourist line now, but that’s not how it started. How can I say this? Much of Japan’s train lines in remote rural areas were built for the benefits of the communities when roads were few and poor, people had no cars and there were barely no means for travel. Japan National Railroad, the former national railroad network , was largely made up of such rural transportations before the roads were improved for a better traveling for cars, and bigger trunk line connections between the fewer but developing population and industrial centers.. Then the wholesale drain of the younger workforce to the big cities happened, and rural communities were left in increasingly severe population decline and stagnation, which in turn caused more people to leave. Rural railroads which were built in the hope for area vitalization suffered poor usership. Many were abandoned and what’s left struggled for survival and downsized. That’s what you are looking at. There are many pristine beautiful places. Some enjoy modern tourism and attempts for attracting the tourists are made, but keeping rural railroad services going are not getting easier.
@@makik3762 Yes, I assumed these railroads started out as primary means of transportation. Building them also created a lot of jobs. Now that most people have automobiles and populations have shifted, tourism might be the main source of income for these rail lines in the present day. I know I would love to ride on these rail lines, even though I would have no other purpose in traveling to their destinations.
1:55:51 There is a badly damaged car on the right, in the moat between the tracks and the street. This seems to be quite unusual for Japan, where everything else is kept clean!
acm#1985 heck I been living in japan since 2013 and I been all over japan and it’s mostly clean but I have walked down the alleys at night just me and the wife who is Japanese I seen graffiti but that’s everywhere in the world but it’s very clean and it’s safer then the us
I noticed it, but thought I was mistaken and didn't back up the video as I was watching it while exercising. Thanks for the comment with the note of the time.
I noticed that too! Very scary when that happens as that can usually lead to a derailment. Signal went green too, so I’m really not sure why that switch wasn’t aligned. 私もそれに気づいた! それが通常脱線につながる可能性があるので、それが起こると非常に恐ろしい。 信号も緑色になったので、なぜそのスイッチが整列していなかったのか分かりません。
I read recently on a Wales Video that there is a design for those Points whereby the wheels of the train going one way, change the points for the next train (sprung operated Points) which will be travelling in the opposite direction. It is only used on relatively slower moving Trains AND on single Rail systems.. It saves having people at all Points to Change the Points.. I accepter the explanation as the Light rail in wales gave enough time to observe it in action..
Why are so many people taking pictures of the train at the crossroads? I noticed that in other videos, too. Are trains some kind of attraction in Japan?
It is almost a world wide hobby. The last Highspeed train from Plymouth in England to Paddington was like it was the first Train EVER to run in the world with the number of Photographers especially at Paddington which lasted about Half an Hour..

Произошел пошерстный взрез стрелки. От такого с рельс не сойдет, но стрелка может быть повреждена, что может стать причиной схода поезда в противошерстном направлении.
When your country public transport is enough for you so there's no need to buy a car or having one is more than enough so space is used at its fullest....no need bigger road, car park and the most important?less carbon emission and traffic jam!!
Why were their no Passengers on and off. Why was the traffic so light and so few trains going the opposite way if it was a work day ??. Not much sign of people around houses or Land ??
Awesome video, well done, I enjoyed most all of the video except the lady making announcements who wouldn't stop talking with that annoying voice otherwise a fantastic video !!
I had the sound turned down as i do not have any Japanees AND was pistening to my choice of music AND the voice irritated me too...I had a ball watching all around and wondering HOW they came up with that route well over 100 years ago .All over the world there are BRILLIANT Engineering feats and when one conciders the fact there was so little communication facilities. This is a very beautiful and therapeutic video but it seems like the colors were desaturated. Needs more green, blue, and pink.
Interesting to see a turntable in the yard at Mina Ota. Guess not too many of those around now.
Beautiful trip, thank you

The driver doesn't need to sound the horn at every (level) crossing. People actually stop for the train! I wish I had the means to go there.

@ep5 I was wondering about these switch types too, having seen them on many foreign (to me) rail lines. Thanks for the great explanation! :)
